Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave*1, the latest entry in the Fire Emblem series, will go on sale for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
First, take a look at the video released as part of Nintendo Direct 2025.9.12.
The Great Gladiator Games*2 begin
The story is set in a giant arena surrounded by a fervent crowd. A man called the Divine Pope*3 declares the start of the Great Gladiator Games of Dagtheon*4, and many different characters clash in battles of strength and conviction.
Four Warriors
Here, we'll introduce four warriors who aim to take part in the Great Gladiator Games.
Cai
A country boy who is determined to enter the Great Gladiator Games, for which proud warriors have gathered, in order to save his father.
In addition to his proficiency with a spear, it appears he can fight while mounted on trained animals.
Theodora
A woman followed by a great number of soldiers. She also has great physical strength--enough so to defeat several armored enemies with one swing.
In real combat, as well, it appears that she can call on her host's strength to attack.
Dietrich
A swordsman recognizable by his handsome face and long hair. Though he speaks dryly, his deep love for battle is clear.
On the battlefield, it appears that he can use a special technique to move instantaneously, ignoring obstacles.
Leda
A woman who captivates with her enchanting dances. From her words, we can see that she holds an exceptionally strong conviction.
In battle, it appears that she can summon powerful monsters using song and musical instruments.
In the video, many different characters appear in addition to the four introduced above, and fierce battles rage. Doesn't it make you wonder how the Great Gladiator Games are going to end?

Notes:
1: The Japanese title of this game is 万紫千紅 (Ban Shi Sen Kou), which is a somewhat obscure poetic expression. It literally refers to large amounts of different colored flowers, but is used to imply beauty through diversity.
2: Great Gladiator Games - The phrase used here is 大剣闘祭 (Dai Kentou Sai) . 剣闘 (kentou) refers to the kind combat and entertainment performed by gladiators in ancient Rome. Based on the English trailer, it appears they went with a different vibe in the localization, renaming this event the "Heroic Games".
3: Divine Pope - The Japanese text is 神威法王 (Shin'i Houou), which is not a title used in the real world. 神威 (shin'i) means divine or godlike power and authority, and 法王 (houou) is a word that can technically refer to the leader of a religion generally, but is most commonly used to refer to the Pope in Rome. Something like "High Priest" would also work as a translation, but given the Rome-inspired setting and Three Houses's whole vibe, I reckon this title is in fact meant to evoke Catholicism specifically. I could be wrong, though. Anyway, they definitely will not use the word Pope in the localization, and "Divine High Priest" also sounds lame, so the localization team will probably come up with something a bit different. (Or at least, I certainly would if I were them.)
4: Dagtheon - Presumably the name of an in-world location. In Japanese it's ダグシオン and I reckon that would be pronounced like /'dagθi,ən/ in English, or perhaps /'dagsi,ən/. Just made a guess—could also be Dagseon/Dagsion, Daxion, etc. The name could also be changed in the localization, as were many place names in Three Houses.
Miscellaneous notes: "Cai" is pronounced like the first syllable of "Kyle". The E in Leda's name is pronounced like the E in "bed" or "pet". Though, again, they might pronounce these differently in the localization.
