Crossroads. (Jonathan Crane | BST Project)
Cheers!
An update of some concept art from last year-- I still liked the backgrounds, but wasn't satisfied with Crane's design. The original intention for these was to test the character design and palettes with my painting style to see how they'd look together. Also practice for converting a background for different lighting conditions. I'm much happier with the end result this time around :)
I'm drawing over old illustrations to test the new BST designs-- in this case, Jonathan Crane. I also made a little 4 frame animation for fun :) I'm really happy with the new design, as well as just understanding anatomy and design better in general. As noted in the original post, the lighting/background reference was from a shot in Key Largo (1948).
Re-doing Crane's design on a painting from last year. Feels a bit like time travel-- going back to fix past mistakes after learning what you should have done :)
Testing Crane's design at odd angles. Finally got to use the 3D model I made of Crane's apartment hideout to get this above view of his narrow little kitchen. I'm understanding forms better now and can grid things out when the perspective gets odd. Getting there :)
