Character design model sheets for the Obi-Wan Kenobi Akira bike slide re-animated thing I did recently. Wanted to see if I could make the design look more like AotC!Ewan. Still developing my character design style, so I used this as practice :) I feel like I failed with the armor knees/elbows but simplifying that design down for 2D animation was never going to be easy...

I saw people redrawing this shot from the Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) cartoon in their own style, but I wanted to reanimate it instead, for fun and practice :) I know the cape covering the first few shots makes things easier to animate, but I really wanted to see the character & bike more, so I did a cape-less version, too :) [OpenToonz & Clip Studio Paint]

I'm using screencaps from SW:IV to study a few things– designing a shot, set design, digital painting, and developing a more realistic approach to animation character design. I really love this shot of Obi Wan-- from "too old for this sort of thing" Ben back to Obi Wan, Jedi Master, General Kenobi, total boss. (painted in Clip Studio Paint)

Just a rough character design, animation workflow, and lip sync experiment. Used a quote/shot from a film I liked (Star Wars: IV A New Hope) so I wouldn’t overthink things– just observing and drawing the reference, not really exaggerating anything major, noting the timing and movement of everything :)

Not perfect, lots of mistakes as I figured things out along the way, but I learned a lot and I think it's a big improvement :)
