Blue Sky, Yellow Sun

So this is a super rough draft of the new fic. I’m actually quite pleased with it. The title is a working title but it kinda fits for what I have planned. Tell me what you think?

Porthos knew it the second he blew up the door; they were too late. Other than the sound of rubble falling and the slight ringing in his ears, there was nothing. Rage started to gather in his chest as he readied his assault rifle and followed his commanding officer into the lab. Even though both men were clad in black body armor with helmets and gas masks, Porthos could tell that Athos was controlling his rage just about as well as he was, which is to say, not at all.

“Damn it!” Porthos was certain that the rifle Athos carried would have been thrown across the room had it not been strapped to him. ‘We’re too late! Again! What does this make- three times?”

“Four actually.” Porthos looked around the room, trying not to be sick. There were two lines of square, glass cells, each one resting on a destroyed monitoring system and reaching to the ceiling. Vaguely human shapes were slowly starting to decompose in the clear cubicles.

“I’m sick of these Red Guard labs getting cleared just before we raid them.” Athos sighed, shouldering his weapon. “Though, I suppose this one shut down a few days ago if the bodies are any indications.”

Porthos let his own weapon drape across his chest as he moved into the room. While it was obvious that they would find nothing of any use here, they still had to check. Treville’s orders. Still, he tried to avoid seeing the bodies, not wanting more death haunting his dreams.

Still riding the adrenaline high from storming the lab, all it took for Portho’s rifle to come to bear was the soft sound of a hand weakly slapping glass. Heart in his throat, he lifted his eyes to look into the cell. The soft brown eyes stared back at him, silently pleading for help.

“Athos! We’ve got a live one!” He returned his focus to the pathetic creature still held captive. “Cover your head- I’m going to shoot out the glass…”

Porthos let a stream of bullets shatter the glass enough for him to get to the captive. Breaking away a bit more of the cage with the butt of his rifle, he held out a hand but was surprised when the prisoner recoiled. He was even more surprised when great white wings wrapped around the body, effectively hiding it.

“So...bird DNA.”

Porthos glanced behind him where Athos stood to watch. “I’d say that’s pretty good guess. This one have a name?”

Athos found a small plaque at the base of the shattered cell. “ ‘Savoy Lab: Avian unit: 006.13/22, codenamed Aramis’.”

dang.. i did bad on my bsys midterm. (aka, the only class I managed to get an A in).  I usually get about +10% above class average, but now.. ugh, in my defense it was on Access, a computer program that I've never used before.

Class average was 81.

I got 62.

bsys was my gap boosting class and now... well now i got nothing. :(
