Today I went to the Boston Teen Author Festival and met a bunch of cool people. It’s only the third year, but there were a ton of people there!! I got a few books signed for myself and couple for friends, and some book swag. I also made new friends Olivia - thebookwisher and Nicole - bookhoarder21!! Olivia recognized my url when I mentioned it and was like “wait you’re bookphile?” and that was my very own celebrity moment. Lol
I didn’t know many of the authors there, but I was the most excited to meet Renee Ahdieh (rahdieh). Leigh Bardugo was there too, but since I’ve met her earlier this year and I figured there were too many people to just stop by for a hello. I didn’t really know any of the others and there really wasn’t time to chat because of the amount of people present.
The best part was how funny everyone was. YA authors have the best sense of humor (even if some of their books are sad). At one of the panels I was at there was solid two minutes where everything was a dick joke, which Melissa Grey started and others continued. At one point they were discussion magic systems and rules and Bardugo was like “I always wondered why they didn’t just shoot Voldermort? Muggle it up, get it done.” XD Earlier at the intro panel, she said she’d ship Alina with Edward Cullen and make him sparkle with her sun bender powers.
Overall, great experience, I’m glad I went.
