↳ There he was. In midst of his workplace, standing straight, sunglasses on his face, nose a bit too high, with an attitude as if he owned that place. The rage was welling all the way up inside of him, so quickly that the wrench cluttered from his hand. The boy turned around at the sound and they stared at each other, just like they did in the night of the race.

Jimin was looking over Jungkook’s shoulder, seeing Taehyung leaning against his car not far away from where they were and then back at Jungkook. Biting his lip, Jimin thought that if Taehyung was there, then it couldn’t be because of something Jungkook wanted to do to him. He liked Taehyung. There was no reason to be afraid. Motioning over to the crowd, he spoke up, “Jin is close by…so…” He wasn’t sure why he had felt the need to secure himself and show Jungkook that he wasn’t alone, but maybe it was just his wariness. Rolling his shoulders back, Jimin took a deep breath, taking a step closer to Jungkook, “What do you want?”
Jungkook smiled, or rather showed a sad little imitation of it. It was pathetic how it still hurt even though Jimin’s reaction was completely logical. How was it that emotions and logic never went hand in hand? Why couldn’t he just reason himself into stop loving Yoongi or stop regretting his choices or losing sleep over it. It could have been so much easier for everyone if he just had let go.
“I’m not going to hurt you Jimin.” He didn’t make the effort to hide the tiredness from his word. “Although you probably won’t believe me, I never wanted that. Not really. And definitely not like this.” He shrugged his shoulders. “But it doesn't matter what I wanted. What matters is that you got hurt and... it’s not just the physical damage, the bruises, the pain you must have been in. I’m sorry for how I treated you in general. How I always tried to fight with you, all the tension, the passive-aggressiveness when instead I should have just accepted you into the group. I’m sorry. For everything. And... also for what happened with you and your parents. If you want me to talk to them, to explain that it wasn’t your fault how everything turned out then I’ll do it, I promise. This is not a trick to get back at you or play you or... or to get back on Yoongi’s good side.” He kicked a little stone with the tip of his shoe, just to distract himself, because speaking the older’s name still made the ache flare up anew in his chest. “I know he doesn't want to talk to me. And that’s alright. I just... just wanted to get this off my chest.” He nodded, more to himself than Jimin. He had made it. He had told him what he wanted without running off again. He could go home now. “Anyway, Thanks for listening to me. I’ll stop bothering you now. Enjoy the race.”
“No!” Jimin said a little louder then he intended to, reaching out for Jungkook’s arm to keep him from going anywhere, “Please…let me say something, too.” When Jungkook looked at him in confusion, Jimin gathered all his strength. “I just… I think I have a say in this, too, right?” He began and let go of Jungkook’s arm. This time he didn’t step back. “I knew you always disliked me and I’m sorry that I hurt you as well with kissing Yoongi in front of you and all…if I would have known, if you would have talked to me, I would have kept it down a little,” Jimin shrugged his shoulders, gazing at Jungkook. “And please don’t talk to my parents, please. It’s okay. They would only try to arrest you or make you say something to the media to clean my name, but I don’t want that,” Jimin said with a sad smile, “I’ll figure that out on my own.” He sighed, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
“Thank you,” Jimin said a little breathless, “Thank you for coming here and apologizing. It really shows…about who you truly are, I think. It doesn’t make it better and it was absolutely wrong to do all of this…but in a weird way I can understand you…even though it still hurts.”
Their roles were reversed for a second when Jimin reached out for him and Jungkook was the one who was stepping back with insecurity in his eyes. Of course, he had thought this over and over in his head before but never in any of those thoughts had Jimin being nice to him right away been an option. He was positively overwhelmed. And pretty much rendered speechless.
For a moment it was quiet and then Jimin could hear the roaring of the engines as he looked over his shoulder. It was the last round. “Yoongi will need a little more time,” Jimin said and returned his attention back to Jungkook, “But if you truly want to make it better and if you listen a little more to Taehyung…,” He motioned over to him, before a little smile appeared on his lips, “Then I think everyone will forgive you. I do.” He reached out his hand for Jungkook to take, just when the people around them started cheering and chanting Yoongi’s name loudly. “I forgive you,” Jimin repeated not sure if Jungkook had heard right.
Jungkook was torn between wariness and surprise, hope and all the guilt he was feeling. He had no idea how to react, a simple thank you wasn’t nearly enough but he was running out of time to think of something else because Yoongi was about to win the race and then he would come looking for Jimin and… yeah, he better should get going. Like right now. So, he actually settled for a quiet thank you and a shy smile still filled with worries and uncertainty.
“Stay close to Taehyung, will you?” Jimin said and looked over to Taehyung. He had noticed it before. First when they all had stayed over at his summer house, then at all the parties and races. Taehyung was always there, wherever Jungkook was and then Jimin had noticed a familiar look in the other’s eyes. One that was filled with love and worry for Jungkook.
Jungkook tried to understand what Jimin was telling him right now but he didn’t seem to get a grasp on it.
“You will break his heart completely one day if you keep on worrying him,” Jimin chuckled low, before his voice got serious again, “Sometimes we don’t see how much certain people really love us…and Taehyung really likes you.” Shrugging his shoulders, Jimin took a step back again, a smile forming at his lips when he looked at Taehyung, whose eyes were almost fixated on Jungkook and who probably was occupied worrying way too much about the younger again.
Jungkook sighed deeply. “Yeah, his heart is too soft. And I know it could get him into trouble but - right now I’m really thankful for his lenience and care with me. It’s nice to know that you’ve got a friend that is there for you - even if you behave like a complete asshole. Not that I’m planning on repeating something so awful again but... it basically means that if I try to keep my shit together, I can rely on his friendship. And... and even if it’s not like … like you and Yoongi, it’s still something good, right?”
Jimin giggled at Jungkook’s blindness to what was so obvious to everyone else but the younger. “Jungkook…are you really that blind? His heart is soft for you,” Jimin tried to hint once more, but when Jungkook just kept on talking about their friendship, he interrupted him again, “Taehyung loves you, you idiot!” He ran his fingers through his hair, a little nervous about the fact he had just outed Taehyung like that but the other probably would have never told Jungkook in the first place. Too scared that Jungkook would never love him back. Looking over his shoulder, Jimin could see how the people were running onto the race tracks to celebrate the racers. Yoongi wouldn’t be very happy if he’d see Jimin alone with Jungkook, even if they had made up now. It was still a long way to go for the other and for Jimin. Jungkook would need to prove himself a lot more, especially to Yoongi, but the apology was a huge step and he was very thankful for it. It was a lot easier to breathe for Jimin now. “I think Tae’s waiting for you,” Jimin raised an eyebrow cheekily, before he waved Jungkook goodbye, “I see you around then.”
When Jungkook finally went back to the car his steps were light and quick. He felt like a big part of the weight that had been pulling him down had vanished, just like that. He wanted to believe that it would really be better now, that he wouldn't feel so guilty and that Jimin and he would be okay. But alone the fact that he was practically fleeing from the race now that things were settled to avoid being seen by Yoongi proofed to him that there was still a long way to go before he would be able to get back to ‘normal’. When he finally was back in the car he slumped into his seat, shutting the car door closely and securely. He sighed deeply and with a smile on his face.
Taehyung sat right back down next to him, looking at the younger curiously. “And?” Taehyung mimicked the smile that was visible on the other’s face, “I guess it went well? Or why that smile?” He reached out for Jungkook as if he wanted to wipe something from his lips, but Taehyung just wanted to poke Jungkook’s cheeks a little, happy and relieved to see him smile again – finally.
“Yeah, it went…amazing, really! He not only listened to me but said that he would forgive me! Just like that! Can u believe that?” He chuckled, more at ease than he had been for quite a while. “He was just a little misguided about one thing. He kind of took your caring nature the wrong way.”
Taehyung smiled, looking at Jungkook fondly and only then his expression turned confused. “What…what do you mean? What did he say?” Suddenly Taehyung felt a little too nervous. His heart beating so fast, he was sure Jungkook could hear it. So, he coughed a little, turning back in his car seat, he fumbled around with the keys before he put them in and let the engine roar.
“He actually thinks that you’re in love with me,” Jungkook shook his head, the disbelief clearly written on his face. “Maybe he just wanted to be nice, make me feel lovable or something... or he actually believes it.” Jungkook shrugged his shoulder “Well he doesn't know you as well as I do.” His voice grew softer “You being kind and attentive doesn't mean that you’re in love with anyone. It’s just who you are. You’ve always been like this to me. For as long as I can remember.”
Taehyung stalled the engine right away when Jungkook spoke the words out loud, he had never dared to say himself. He was getting even more nervous now, trying to get the car back on but he failed miserably. Way too nervous. His heart beating wildly against his chest. “Yeah…,” Taehyung chuckled low, trying not to feel too hurt by Jungkook’s words. Taehyung had always been aware that Jungkook didn’t love him. He was helplessly in love with Yoongi and Tae…he was helplessly in love with Jungkook. Taehyung promised to never act on it, even though it meant years of heartache. But he focused on the good things he had with him. They were business partners, roommates…and that was it. He would only make it worse with a confession.
Taehyung's hands were shaking, when he reached for the keys again. “Yeah…he probably just…wanted to be nice,” He looked up at Jungkook, trying to show him a reassuring smile but he failed massively so he quickly kept his focused back on the road and starting the car again, his voice turning quiet, “And I’ll keep being like this, don’t worry about that.”
Jungkook furrowed his brows when he saw Tae’s obvious reaction. “Oh, I’m...I’m sorry Tae, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. Please dont think I’ll start mindlessly obsessing over you now like I had started to do it with ... with Yoongi. I’m not taking what Jimin said seriously. I won't make it awkward, promise”
Taehyung chuckled low, shaking his head when he turned off the engine again to turn a little towards the younger. “I know you won’t,” The older said with a low voice, “I know you wouldn’t fall in love with me.” Just for a second it was absolutely silent, before Taehyung gave the keys over to Jungkook, asking him to change seats and drive instead. “I don’t feel so good,” He mumbled and opened the driver’s door, “Headache and stuff.” He got out fast, taking in a deep breath from the night air, raking his hand through his hair.
Yeah, Jungkook would never fall in love with him. Some people just weren’t made for happy ever after’s and Taehyung were one of them. He had always known that. He leaned against his car, rubbing his hands over his face, making it grew paler than it already was. When he heard Jungkook getting out as well, he quickly returned to a normal expression and walked over to the passenger seat.
“Tae, wait.” Jungkook gently reached out for the older and touched his arm to ask him to turn back around towards him. “Did I say something wrong? I wasn’t... it wasn’t my intention to... Tae, did I hurt you?” He would utterly confused right now and as Tae grew more and more restless he was fearing that whatever he had done it might drive Tae away.
Putting a faint smile on his face, Taehyung took Jungkook’s hand from his arm, caressing over his soft skin sweetly with his thumb before he let go. “It’s fine, really…I’m just…tired,” He said and reached out again to touch Jungkook’s cheek. Suddenly Taehyung felt like that he needed to, that he wouldn’t have much time until he wouldn’t be allowed to do so again. Because Jungkook will fall in love again. And not with him. “I’m sorry if I worried you,” Letting go of the younger, Taehyung opened his mouth to say more but there were no words coming out. He just looked at Jungkook for a moment, before he could find the words again, “Don’t think too much about what Jimin said, okay? Let’s just go home.”
Now that Jungkook looked at Taehyung properly he saw how tired his friend really looked. Tired and exhausted. Tae had been with him many times during the last weeks, cheering him up when he felt like he couldn’t look forward and distracting him when the heartache got too bad. All while trying to be with the rest of the group without hurting Jungkook too much and not snubbing the others at the same time. It must have taken quite the toll on him too. Feeling emotional, Jungkook hugged Tae tightly without any warning, holding him close to him the same way Tae had done it for him so often now. “Thank you, Tae. Really. I don’t know what I would have done without you,” He finished with a little kiss on the cheek that felt strangely intimate. Maybe it was what Jimin had said but somehow, he had to keep himself from kissing Taehyung for real in thanks.
Taehyung almost flinched when Jungkook’s lips touched his cheek ever so softly and his hand wrapped around the younger’s waist to keep him close and instead of letting him go, he just kept him there, tightly against his own body. A small smile stole its way onto his lips and with the other hand Taehyung caressed over Jungkook’s cheeks, gazing into his eyes. The ones he had fallen in love with so many years ago. “I’m always there for you,” He murmured, letting his hand fall down to Jungkook’s neck, caressing his soft skin there, just like Tae knew Jungkook loved it.
Jungkook closed his eyes, just enjoying the caress, completely relaxed in Taehyungs embrace. The other meant safety for him, comfort. He could be as he was and even though he was determined to be a better person in the future it was incredibly soothing to know that there was someone who already loved him exactly how he was, even if it was ‚just‘ in a friendly way. Taehyung knew everything about him. All his heartache, the pressure the younger felt each time he wanted to show off his skills, whether it was at work or anywhere else. He knew about Jungkook’s first love, the first kiss he had shared with a boy right behind the gym hall of his school where Taehyung had waited for him each day. And he had listened to his giggles, to his rant about how cute the other was. All of them had finished school already but Jungkook and it was always Taehyung who made sure that the younger was everywhere the group was. He was the one asking Jungkook to be business partners, knowing about the dream of his to become an artist and offering him a room in his apartment when Jungkook wanted to finally move out of his parents’ house. He knew about the sweet little scar on Jungkook’s cheek, that he was tracing softly right now, deep in his thoughts, and how he had argued with his brother about who could use the computer first. Jungkook had shown him every part of himself in trust and Taehyung had took it upon him to keep him safe as much as he could. Because he loved him. From the very first day he had seen Jungkook when Hoseok had brought him into the group, telling Taehyung how good of an artist he was. It had been so long ago. So much had happened. He was so close, yet still so far.
Taehyung was tracing his scar and it made him fidgety, nervous, kind of restless. Because it was something intimate, something Tae normally didn’t do out in the open like this. And he looked at him like... like Jungkook meant so much more to him than friendship. It was overwhelming. And Jungkook didn’t knew how to handle it. He had never thought of Tae like something more than a friend. He had been so busy being in love with Yoongi head over heels that there hadn’t been room for anyone else not even theoretically. And now he didn’t know what to think.
Taehyung’s heart always longed for him, his eyes always searching for Jungkook’s who was always busy with getting Yoongi’s attention. Taehyung had seen how Yoongi had pushed the younger up the wall a few years later, kissing him senseless, completely drunk on the alcohol and the adrenaline of winning an important race. It had hurt so much. That night, Taehyung had closed up his heart forever. A part of him had wanted to tell Jungkook, confess his feelings towards him but he realized too soon that Jungkook would never fall in love with him. Why would he? He was just his friend. The one who was there for him. Always. And it would stay like this. Taehyung wasn’t sure if people could die from a broken heart, but it for sure hurt. He sighed deeply, looking back into Jungkook’s eyes, before he could find the right words, the right beginning to what he was about to do.
“Would it be...,” Taehyung began quietly, letting go of Jungkook slowly. The words had been so clear in his mind, he knew exactly what he wanted to say, but now that he was saying it out loud, only a mess of it came out: “Would it be so...stupid... if...I mean...maybe...I eh… I just sometimes wonder...that...if ehm...you and me…could be ever... something, just hypothetically speaking... I...just thought about it...not in a weird way of course..and...I know I’m not really one...that you...find attractive I guess...I’m weird...not cool like Yoongi...or Hoseok… or handsome as Jin...or smart like Namjoon...I just thought...we...but...you know...ehm….woulditbesostupidifwhatjiminsaidwastrue?” His heart was beating so fast, while Taehyung was biting his lip hard to not say anything anymore. When the realization hit him, he suddenly felt so anxious, ready to bolt and just ran away.
Jungkook swallowed hard. His first instinct was to think of this as a joke, a cruel one. that Tae had stayed with him as some form of punishment, to make him rely on him so it would hurt all the more if he pretended to care just to take it all away. He took a step back, looking at Tae, trying to find a smirk or something else that would give away that he was teasing him, that he was trying to make him believe he could be loved just to tell him it was a joke later. He could feel the anger rising inside of him, the same kind of feeling that had made him drug Jimin and do so much else. He didn’t want to go down that road. It had made him hurt people. In his wicked way of protecting himself and trying to look out for his heart he had send everyone to hell, including himself. He had sworn to never do that again. So, he let go of the insecure part of him, the aggressive one, the part that saw the worst in people. He needed to trust in Tae, in his kindness. Even if it meant to make himself vulnerable and damageable. “You... you’re not toying with me, are you?” His voice was small and even to his own ears it sounded horribly shaky.
Taehyung closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath before he spoke again, looking at Jungkook softly, “Did I ever?” He shrugged his shoulders, not sure why he had confessed in the first place. It would only make it awkward now. Why did he even think this was a good idea? Jungkook would never fall in love with him. He had nothing to offer. Nothing that the younger one needed. Turning his head, he looked over to the race track, the music was blasting loudly, and he could see the people dance around, cheer for the racers. It seemed so far away right now.
“Just forget that I said it, okay?” Taehyung mumbled, rubbing his neck awkwardly, “Just…I’m sorry.” He turned, opening the door of the car again. He just wanted to get out of here quick.
Jungkook looked at Taehyungs back when the other turned, shoulders hunched up as if he expected a blow. Probably not physical, because Jungkook had never hit him for real (just when they were joking around with each other, never serious). But he expected him to break his heart. Because Jungkook had been completely blind toward his feelings. Just like Yoongi had been to Jungkook’s. The moment he realized that Taehyung must have felt a lot like himself his heart started aching again. Though this time it wasn’t for Yoongi. It was for Taehyung. Suddenly a lot of things made sense when he looked back. And with an awful feeling of dread did he realize how much he must have tortured Tae without even realizing it. He had let him listen to him going on about how great Yoongi was. Multiple times. He had even told him about his night with the elder. Imagining that Jimin would have did that to him; telling him that he had slept with Yoongi and how awesome it was kissing him… he would have gone insane from pain. And still Taehyung had been there for him.
“Oh Tae.” He hugged him from behind, pulling him back towards him so that Tae couldn’t get away with trying to act like his confession never happened. But he didn’t want to torture him on purpose, so he was glad that hugging him like this was more ‘friendly’ with not bringing their faces so close together. “”I’m so sorry I didn’t realize that you had feelings for me. I really didn’t. Believe me, I might be stupid enough to drug someone, but I would have never hurt you on purpose. I’m sorry Tae. Please forgive me - again.” Taehyung felt defeated and tired, turning a little and wrapping his arm around the younger he ruffled through his hair. “Don’t worry about it,” He said quietly, “You didn’t hurt me…like that. I’m fine. I just want you to be happy, that’s all.” Letting go of Jungkook, Taehyung turned to take a seat on the passenger side, rubbing the sides of his temples to get rid of the headache. He just needed sleep and something that made him forget his awkward confession.
Even though Tae was smiling at him it still didn’t feel right. Jungkook bit his lip but he didn’t know what else to say or do so he just sighed deeply and then followed Tae into the car. Taehyung had his eyes closed while the headache was getting worse and worse. “Do we still have some meds at home?” Taehyung murmured, leaning his head back as he rubbed his hands over his face to get rid of the pain. Their drive was uncomfortably silent so Jungkook turned on the radio - only to turn it right off when he remembered that Tae didn’t like music when he had a headache. They really knew each other inside out. It had always been like that. Jungkook wondered how during all this time it really had never occurred to him that they could be something more. Now that he thought of it, they already did more “couple things” than most of the other couples he knew. They shared a bed every now and then, just for the comfort of it. They always had breakfast together. They watched movies and ordered pizza, dividing it the way they knew the other liked it best, like leaving the crust for Tae because he liked it more while Tae always gave him part of his salami. The same way they knew the others sandwich preferences. Or coffee. Or... anything else really. They had settled into a natural habit with leaving together for so long. Jungkook blinked. They practically were like a married couple already. Just without the sex. But wasn’t everything else more important anyway?
As soon as they were home, Taehyung didn’t even go to look for any meds but walked back into his room, letting himself fall onto his bed. He barely got out of his jeans, before he laid down. It was always like that. He always got a headache when something emotionally bothered him like this. And now Jungkook knew. And it would get awkward. And he’d still be lonely. Turning onto his back, Taehyung crossed his arms in front of his face, sighing deeply.
Jungkook watched Tae vanish into the bedroom right away, looking after him deep in thoughts. What exactly had kept him from seeing Tae as a potential partner? They loved each other, and Tae even was his type (handsome, cute, with a sweet laugh and a heart too big for himself, lots of passion and spirit, shared interests …) so what had prevented the thought from crossing his mind just once? The answer was easy. Yoongi. Or rather his obsession with him. It had used up all his attention, all the love he had to give and turned him into a person he didn’t want to be. But was the attraction he felt towards Tae now that he was seeing him in another light delusion or projection - or was it real? He got out of his jacket and left his shoes in the hallway before walking towards Tae’s room on bare feet. There was only one way to find out...
Taehyung didn’t move when he heard Jungkook coming into his room. He never minded it. When the younger needed comfort or closeness, he always came by and it was common knowledge that Taehyung loved to sleep with someone (or at least something) in his arms. So, Jungkook took often the place of the pillow in his embrace. When the mattress dipped, Taehyung looked up from under his arms, lifting the blanket, so the younger could slip in. “You okay?” He murmured quietly, not wanting to talk about himself anymore, “I’m proud of you…for what you did today.”
“M not sure...” Jungkook answered honestly, suddenly shy of what he had decided to do. “Th...thank you.” There was a moment of silence in which Jungkook could feel his heart beat right up to his throat. “C...can I try something, Tae?”
“Hm?” Taehyung furrowed his brows in confusion, sitting up a little to look at Jungkook more closely. He looked the other up and down, looking for any physical signs why Jungkook could not be sure about feeling okay right now before he asked further, “Is it Yoongi? The apology? Do you need me to talk to Jimin or the boys? What’s wrong?”
As always Taehyung would have jumped up to his defense, not caring for anything else but Jungkook, even forgetting his headache for the sake of making him feel okay. A sudden wave of fondness washed through him and he set up as well, facing Taehyung who was still looking like he was ready to jump out of bed at any moment if Jungkook asked him to. “N...no. This isn’t about Yoongi. Or Jimin. This is about you.” He reached out for him, cupping his face, the same way Taehyung had done it at the race when they had been in front of the car. He could feel the fluttering in his stomach, something that must be caused by nerves. Or... or maybe something else. He took a deep breath, gathering all his courage... and then he leaned in. The second his lips met Tae’s the nervousness was all gone. It just vanished into thin air. Because kissing Tae felt like coming home, safe and secure, like warmth and comfort, like hot cocoa and a blanket on a cold day. Just this simple kiss felt more real and more right than everything he had done with Yoongi. He didn’t have to think or worry anymore, he knew that this was the right thing to do. Taehyung relaxed into Jungkook’s touch instantly. His heart went crazy, beating against his ribcage as if it wanted to jump out of it. He couldn’t contain the joy, the happiness, the love that he felt right now. Slowly Taehyung let his hand wander up to Jungkook’s neck to keep him close but also careful not to cage him in, in case he got scared. Because of the things that had happened to him, Taehyung didn’t want to overwhelm the younger. Though he, himself, definitely was. He kissed the younger with so much love and passion, pouring in all the love he had felt for Jungkook for all these years. It wasn’t easy to pull away again, his lips way too addicting. He kept his eyes close, his lips only a breath away from Jungkook when he spoke again in a whispery tone, “Don’t play with me, please. I’ve been doing this for years now…and I don’t care…I just want you to be happy…just…if this…”
Jungkook interrupted him with a little kiss, just a peck really, sweet and innocent. Like his precious Tae. “I’m done playing games, Tae. I want something real, something honest. I want you Tae. I just... needed some time realizing it.” He leaned in to wrap his arms around the other properly, kissing him again and again. It was like each and every kiss mended a piece of his broken heart. Not long and it would be as if he had never been hurt. He could feel his obsession fading, turning into nothing but love and admiration. “This isn’t a pity thing. It’s something I should have done a long time ago. So, if you still want me… then I’d like to be yours.”
Taehyung stared at Jungkook in complete disbelief. He raised one finger, his voice barely there, “Give me a second.” Taehyung was quickly on his feet again, headache long forgotten, when he rushed out of the room and into the living room. His heart was beating so hard. His hands shaking when he reached for the handle of the balcony door. Stepping out into the dark night sky, he closed the door behind him, taking a deep breath. His hands closed around the cold metal of the barrier. And then he screamed. Just once. Followed by a soft giggle and a little jump, before he headed back inside. He ran all the way back into his room, ignoring Jungkook’s weird look, before he was hovering over him already, kissing the younger’s face everywhere. “Yes, yes, yes…of course, yes,” He murmured, every kiss a sweet promise against his soft skin.
An hour before Tae was screaming his happiness out into the night Yoongi was happily walking from the crowd to get himself and Jimin something to drink when he saw Tae’s car. He hadn’t seen the other around yet, so he came to a halt, looking for him. He didn’t have to look far though as he was standing just a few feet away from the vehicle. And he wasn’t alone. “What the fuck…” His mumble didn’t go unnoticed by Jimin who looked into the same direction to see what had Yoongi swearing all of a sudden. Out of instinct Yoongi held out his arm, stopping Jimin from getting any further towards them. Even though there was enough distance between Jimin and Jungkook he still felt the urge to actually physically get in between them to shield Jimin from whatever shit Jungkook was up to right now. “What is he doing here? Just... stay besides me okay? And... what... what is Tae... are they cuddling?”
Jimin giggled cutely, his small hands holding Yoongi by his arm to make him turn towards him again. “I’m fine…Jungkook came here to apologize to me…when you were out to race,” He said, earning a confused expression by Yoongi, “Don’t worry. He didn’t hurt me or anything. We’re fine. I forgave him.” He smiled and leaned in to kiss Yoongi sweetly, cupping his cheek before he had looked at Taehyung holding Jungkook in his arms again. He bit his lip to keep from smiling so much.
Yoongi opened his mouth in protest, telling Jimin how he shouldn’t have risked that and how he couldn’t just forgive Jungkook like that because he’s had an accident because of Jungkook - but then he stopped. And looked at Jimin, really looked at him. Jimin wasn’t weak. He was stronger. He wasn’t forgiving others so easily because he didn’t have the strength to hold his stand. He was forgiving because he was strong enough to leave grudges behind and not dwell on the hurt. Because he managed to see the good in people. Always. And for that Yoongi loved him.
“That my love is indeed them cuddling,” Jimin said and intertwined his hand with his boyfriends, “They look so cute together.”
“Cute... together?” He blinked, not really getting why Jimin was looking so mischievous. “Wait - you don’t think they are...”
“Going home? Making out? Fucking?” Jimin asked bluntly, looking at the retreating car, before he turned his attention fully back on Yoongi, “Well at least I really hope so…was about time.” He shrugged his shoulders, as if it was not a big thing.
“Wha... no! You don’t... they can’t...euwww!” Yoongi looked at him with wide eyes. “Why would you say something like that?” It made awfully sense. And although his brain was refusing to picture them together because of obvious reasons (Jungkook wasn’t really his favorite topic to think about right now and he would never be comfortable to picture Tae in anything nsfw related) it somehow felt... reasonable. Not to mention the fact that if Jungkook was in love with someone else it would mean that it wouldn’t be so awkward to confront him with their relationship.
“Of course, they can,” Jimin said, laughing at Yoongi’s over-exaggerating the fact that the two youngest of the group could have sex as well. “Taehyung loves Jungkook,” Jimin said and pulled Yoongi closer to him, “He always did. Didn’t you see that?” He hit himself on the forehead overdramatically right away, when he noticed his mistake. “Of course, you didn’t! How are you so blind to feelings? Love? Anything related to that in general?” Jimin sighed but had to laugh when he saw Yoongi’s pouting expression. “You, my dear, are completely dense when it comes down to spotting someone being in love,” Jimin poked Yoongi’s cheek playfully, “How did I even make you fall in love with me?”
Yoongi made a face at Jimin. “You didn’t. I fell all on my own. And by the way I know perfectly fine if someone is in love. I can see it every time you look at me. There!“ He looked over to Tae and Jungkook before speaking up again “In all honesty though, if the two are together and if you really are okay with Jungkook then…we could maybe invite them over sometime? See if we can still work as a group. If you want to?”
Now Jimin was the one with the confused expression. “Who are you and what did you do to my grumpy, overprotective boyfriend?” Jimin asked looking the older up and down, before embracing him in tight hug. “Let’s do that…but I’m not sure, yet if they are together…ehm…,” Jimin suddenly got a bit quiet, leaning back, “I kind of…just…ehm told Jungkook…I never really asked Taehyung…but it seemed like they were doing something, I guess? And it was too obvious that Tae was in love with him…but…maybe we should ask them first.”
Yoongi groaned. “I guess your softness must have fluffed the grumpiness out of me. Or maybe I just want to tend to your strive for harmony to make you happy. But if you continue to play cupid please do me a favor and warn me first okay? I don’t want to walk in on Jin and Namjoon kissing or something. Or them and Hoseok and...” He vehemently shook his head. “Nope, not going there. The only thing naughty I want to think about is what I want to do to you in celebration for my win at the race.” He made a motion for Jimin to come along. ”So... you coming or what?” Jimin bit his lip, not even trying to hide the blush on his cheeks when he took Yoongi’s hand. He would follow him anywhere.
The End.
