―you must know i`m always watching over you because you seem like someone who resembles someone whom i should love and cherish as long as my heart continues living on. even though we aren`t meant to be, even though we might never meet ever i must tell you this that you must be doing everything that always makes you happy. i hope you`re catching enough sunshine inside the warm comfort of your palm, i hope the leaves which sway along with the air resembles your curls moving against your forehead.

before a year ends again on you, i want to remind you that you did everything well. if you didn`t feel like sleeping, it was okay. if you felt like you should go through that verse once again, it`s okay as long as you don`t burden yourself with self-doubt. you`re perfect for me. you`ve never given me a flaw in yourself. from a distance, as i watch you grow up, i remember how you never expected your life to turn out like this.

i wish i could hold on your hand but i`ve to leave. my heart doesn`t want it but i have to. you must know i`m not meant for you. you`ll find someone who`ll be there for you and even if you don`t find anyone, you must always know i`m always there though my physical presence ceases to exist.

you`ve always lived your life for the past seven years under the influence of six different characters. i somehow understand how you must have felt. your confused vision and thoughts stumble over your own and you look around searching for the right one. you, by now know that it`s difficult to be in love with six different people so you created a new you who consumes the six goods and combined them with your own making yourself a person who lives for both himself and ourselves.

you must remember as always that you`re my person even if we don`t meet. even if for us that someday never dawns upon us, i`ll always be watching over you.

so, as another year ends, i hope you`re finally with your parents, your brother and your pet laughing your heart out loud while blowing the candles. i hope as you look at yourself in the mirror today, you will not regret that you become a person like this. i hope as you look up to the sky, you`ll know that i`m there smiling down at you. i hope from this day onwards as you look into the crowd of people gathered for your songs, you`ll know that you`ve come a long way and that it was worth it. as another year comes in front of you, don`t worry, we`ll still walk this path with the same smile.

lastly, happy birthday, jeongguk. a very happy 22nd year of your life. i wish i could give you a hug and pat your back telling that you did well, but, never mind. i know you already know that.
