Quietus JK (Part 3)
Jeongukk thinks he’s dreaming, this can’t be real right? He must’ve hit his head too hard, this indeed doesn’t feel like reality. This type of information hit him strongly and he didn’t like it. Did Jinyoung jinx it? Probably since now this whole apocalypse shit hit the fan unexpectedly.
It’s a good thing he had a weapon now. Can a ruler even be called a weapon? Yes, to Jeongukk it is! He has to get his ass out quickly before he gets eaten alive by those dead people.
Jeongukk goes over the list of items he has in his head, messenger bag, check! Ruler, check! Letter, check! Phone? Definite no. He totally forgot about the darn thing. He fidgets when he can’t find the phone. Panic mode activated! He starts breathing unevenly and tears start to well up. If he can’t find the cell phone, then how can he save Yugyeom?
Instead of looking for It, his mind chose him to pace in worry while scratching his arms lightly. In mid pace, the foot of his timberlands hits something hard until he looks down. Aha! Its his phone! But its slightly cracked which makes a little frown appear on his delicate face.
Now that he has the phone, he can save Yugyeom. Well, if he can even try to get a hold on him. The thought of his friend leaving him on read and acting weirdly still made him uncomfortable. As the negative thoughts grow within his own head, he erases them quickly and gathers up the courage to move his ass.
“You can do this Jeongukk,” he nodded, breathing in and out, his hands clutching the strap of the brown bag across his shoulder, and closing his eyes. “You can do anything. Just run and fight that’s it.”
After the little pep talk he gave to himself, ruler in hand, he opens the creaky old art door cautiously. He stuck his head out and looked left and right to see if any of those ‘dead people’ were out there roaming around the hallway.
He prays he’ll make it out alive. He’ll fight for Yugyeom, even if it means it’ll cost his own life.

Place: outside of Seoul University
Time: 10:34 A.M.
The streets of Seoul are a complete wreck. Like how Jeongukk witnessed back at the art room, limbs of body parts and the people who were once alive were half eaten on the streets left to rot.
The putrid smell of decaying bodies heavily hits his nose, making it scrunch up and covering it.
“Fuck, I didn’t know it’d be this bad.” His sense of smell was very sensitive. Strong smells could make him feel dizzy and nauseous so that’s the only reason why he stuck to delicate scents, like women’s perfume or baby lotion.
As he looks around the bloody streets, he finds some people running away until they get cornered. He particularly got disturbed when he found a child crying in a fetal position, calling out for their mother when he knows the mother didn’t make it out alive.
Jeongukk can hardly believe this was real, he still thinks it’s just a dream he made up within his mind and making it seem real. He looks away and shakes his head, he wishes to save the poor child, but he’s determined to find Yugyeom.
Yes, this was for Yugyeom only. He was only outside for him. Only fighting for his friend. Walking away from the scene, he winces silently as he hears the child’s screams become gurgled and hears the splattering of his blood on the floor. This was one of the mistakes he truly wished he didn’t make.

Place: nearing the gates of the Seoul Museum of History
Time: 11:07 A.M.
“Yugyeom!” Jeongukk hollers. He still can’t find Yugyeom and dread running upon him as he roams the streets. So far, he hadn’t fought with any ‘dead people’ which he thanks the almighty lord for being on his side so far.
Just as he rounds a corner to a street, he was met with two ‘dead people.’ With fear in his eyes, his body froze. Shit, Jeongukk! Why do you freeze now? He tried moving his own feet, but they wouldn’t budge at all, making him even more scared. Fiercely moving his eyes from them to his frozen feet, he had to make up a plan quick.
‘Gotta think, gotta think!’ His eyes moved quickly to see if anything can block the monsters from getting to him. Finally, his eyes land on a loose pipe almost detached from a building, and a good sized rock to throw at.
Struggling to reach the rock, the ‘dead people’ come closer, making him hurry in terror. His damn feet still won’t budge and now he’s getting pissed off.
As they move closer, Jeongukk takes a good look at them. The first one had its left arm off, with its skin rotting and the jaw sliced open, letting him see the bone. He winces as it doesn’t have any eyes. Yup, he’s now even more scared.
As he looks at the second one, its bottom half was hacked off, making it drag itself with its arms and its intestines dragging behind. What makes him want to puke is the left eyeball hanging out flimsily like a loose threat.
As Jeongukk reaches, he groans in pain from his stiff legs, but manages to grab the rock quickly and throw it hard at the loose pipe. Luckily the pipe came down and knocked the first ‘person’ down, that doesn’t mean they’re gone though.
Finally being able to move and have more confidence on getting his way out, he clutched onto the ruler and bolted towards the knocked down ‘dead person’. He raised the end of the ruler high and impaled the skull. It was still moving and fling its arm to claw at the boy’s leg. But Jeongukk was quicker than it and took the ruler out of the skull and slicing the wrist hard enough for it to not move.
“Just die already!” He grunted, digging the ruler even farther into the skull before he heard a crack from it. After it stopped responding, he took the ruler out roughly and stomped on the skull until it was a mess with scattered brain and bones from the casualty.
He huffed and made a face as he inspected his hands with blood. He causally wiped it off his canary blue button down shirt and walked over to the second one. Without hesitation he pierced the skull of the second ‘dead person’ on top of its head and brought the heel of his timberland onto the skull.
Again, more blood occurred and the smell made him sick to his stomach.
“This shit is disgusting, but I gotta keep moving further without distractions.”
Jeongukk moves forward towards the alleyway until a museum came into view. The words “Seoul Museum of History” in dark bolded bronze in the archway of the big building.
“Maybe Yugyeom hid in here since it looks vacant...” he muttered to himself. He still had high hopes that his best friend was alive and well from all the events that’ve been going on today. Making his way down the rocky path and towards the chestnut colored door, he opened it and stepped inside.
“Maybe it’s better to play safe by resting here for now. But I still have to find him,” he turned on his phone that read 12:23 A.M. and no answers from Yugyeom. ‘Maybe he truly is gone’ he thought. “I’ll stay here, maybe look around and find a better weapon than this floppy stick.”
Jeongukk began walking towards a room that held all different kinds of ancient artifacts. He wished he came by here sooner before the whole mess came, but sadly the once cheery Museum was wrecked with broken glass thrown everywhere, papers dispersed, and even some sculptures broken into pieces.
Jeongukk came into a halt and puffed out his cheeks with hands on his hips. His feet hurt from walking so much and he’s so exhausted.
“That’s it I’m calling quits for today.” Throwing the ruler on the marble ground and sitting on a piece of broken marble, he was about to close his eyes for a moment until a sudden fatigue overcame him.
Jeongukk’s world was spinning even more than the last time. The only thing he saw before he blacked out was his head connecting to the grey marble ground and two figures in the distance. He definitely hoped that God really was on his side.
