“Hand these in” you told him, tossing the task of papers that soon scattered on his desk.
“I'm not in charge of that” he replied back, not even looking in your direction or even fixing the papers you messed up.
He never makes things easy for you. It’s a pain in the ass to do projects with such a person like him. To think you have to correct the work he does and he doesn’t even have the decency to even hand it in? Asshole.
Yeah you understand he does the majority of the work. He is the one that takes all the pictures and edits each one of them. But you were the one that wrote paragraphs over paragraphs. Talking about the products being launched and how they work.
You spent days working on it. Around more than twenty pages, which weren’t even all of them. You physically had to shorten it down.
And he has the audacity to act like this? Oh you will rip him apart.
“Well now you are, hand it in” you said, turning away from his desk as you started walking away from him.
You could care one fuck for how many times he called you. Telling you he wasn’t going to hand it in. However you knew he would hand it in. He has done it so many times, and well you aren’t going to hand it in.
It’s not childish what you are doing, you have things to do. Other works to check, other articles and slides to make. You are way too busy for you to go and explain the entire project to your boss.
A project both you and Jungkook sadly worked on. He can hand it in and explain it all in the process. That’s the minimun he can do.
“What’s with you!? I have work to do as well!” he exclaimed, as he walked over to your desk. He slammed his hand on your desk. Something that made you look up at him.
“Not my problem, at least do that” you said, turning your monitor back on as he groaned in anger.
“You think so highly of yourself don’t you?” he barked back, something that made you look up at him. Your eyes showed ‘don’t care’ but also annoyed.
You don’t think highly of yourself. That isn’t even the case, the problem is that he doesn’t want to hand in things. You always do it, and he’s always the one off the hook.
It’s always you the one presenting the projects to your boss, it’s you putting all the information onto the articles and it’s you who ends up not taking all the credit even though you deserve it.
He gets praised even when he does the bare minimun.
Yet he’s still mad? Unbelieve.
“No actually, but I should” you said, looking back at your monitor as you started logging into your computer.
But before you knew it, you felt his hand on your wrist. And soon enough he pulled you up from your chair, dragging you with one hand as he had the stack of papers on the other one.
How petty can one be?
“Are you kidding me!?” you exclaimed, as he didn’t let your hand go. The grip of his hand on yours was too tight.
Once you both reached the big black doors, he gave it a soft knock as an answer was quick to be heard.
It only took a ‘come in’ for him to drag you inside. It was too late for you to say anything, or to try to fight him back. Not when your boss was looking at the two of you.
He did let go of your hand once you both reached inside, just so it wouldn’t look weird and there wouldn’t be any misunderstanding. Which you didn’t even want honestly.
“Jungkook and Y/n? What’s the surprise?” your boss said, as he looked over to you and then back at Jungkook.
Without much to say, Jungkook handed the papers to him. Something that he immediately started looking over.
“We are here to represent the new project” Jungkook announced, as he looked over to you. Glaring at you with such a hateful look, one you immediately gave him
He dislikes you just as much as you dislike him. It will always be that way. It’s the way you both choose it for yourselves.
And it hasn’t changed for years.
_______ʚ❤︎ɞ_______
“Okay, you can both stop glaring at each other now” Jimin laughed, as you both didn’t even acknowledge what he said at all.
Let’s say that after you and Jungkook talked to your boss about the project and how everything was done. It only took a good job from him for you both to hurry outside and work on the pending works you both had.
Of course there were some curses, some ugly glares and some talked behind the back that you both did. But there wasn’t much communication after, not that there ever is between the two of you.
You both barely even talk when it comes to doing projects. He just knows what part to do and you know yours. So it’s mostly individual work.
Other than that there has never been a full conversation between the two of you, or just a conversation in general.
It’s weird to describe where you stand with Jungkook because there has never been anything, you could never get on his good side and he could never get into yours. It’s weird but you both never did anything about that.
So it became normal for you to just stay the way you are.
But the reason you both are staring at each other in such a hateful way right now was because you both had to sit on the same table. In the same apartment, with the same friends.
It’s a little funny to say. But when it comes to your friends, you love them, you adore both of them. Jimin is that sweet kind hearted person you first met in your first year of college. Which has been years since then.
And Taehyung is bold, funny, and just as nice as well. Which you also met him in your first year of college, through Jimin. They both became your best friends in a matter of days.
But there was something that they both missed when it came to sharing things. Let’s say they totally ignored the fact of another horrible person that was involved with them.
With them also came Jungkook. A person who you never got along with. At first you both didn’t talk. Yes you both would be in the same room with the same friends, but there was no communication between the two of you.
It went on like that, no communication or even some smiles. You both were just strangers. But over time that changed. Once you both graduated college and accidentally got into the same job environment, things got more heated.
This sort of brough disrespect between the two of you, and even started showing this anger on both sides. It was sort of unexplainable. But you hated having him around, something about him wasn’t to your suiting.
And well it started with glares, then it was bad talking, and now it’s both. It just started and now it doesn’t stop. There’s no reason for you both to be friends, you both haven’t been for years.
It’s not that you guys hate each other, hate would be too strong. You guys just don’t get along and never actually tried to get along either.
So what’s the point?
“Oh come on” Jimin laughed, his eyes switching from you to then Jungkook. Watching as the two of you weren’t even saying anything. It was just glares.
“Why invite her?” Jungkook said, as you soon scoffed. “Why invite him?” you quickly said, as now he scoffed.
“They are my friends” he said, as you laughed. “They are mine too” you said, as he just rolled his eyes, finally looking away.
“You guys never change” Jimin said, sighing to himself as he sat down on the chair. Laughing to himself as he watched your expressions.
“I never understood why you guys never became friends” Jimin said, as Taehyung soon joined him in. Sitting beside Jimin as his eyes lingered between the two of you.
“You both have so much potential” Jimin continued, as Taehyung nodded, drinking from his beer.
“Enough” Jungkook said, looking over to Jimin as he then looked away. “Besides that” Jimin said, trying to change the topic. As well as the atmosphere.
“Seokjin is getting married in a couple of months you guys” Jimin happily said, as you looked over to him.
You do remember the time he proposed to Carla. It was such a beautiful proposal, the roses on the beach, the candles– that were fake but they looked real, and the music. Everything added in the moment.
You fell in love with the whole proposal. And the way that Carla cried when he went to his knees brought tears to your eyes.
You were so happy for them, you adored it all. And well you all helped prepare the proposal. You remember the moment he came up to you, asking for advice from a woman. He said that he believed you knew more than him.
And you did your magic and it went so well for them.
Of course the wedding invitations came out a few weeks laters. They said they wanted to get married as soon as possible. They've been dating for six years, so you knew the rush was coming.
But it’s nice to see them happy.
“To think he proposed not too long ago” Taehyung said, as you all nodded. Remember the sweet moment.
“You did amazing with it Y/n” he added, as you softly chuckle. “I just wanted the best for her and him” you said.
“According to Seokjin, he wanted to have a party with all of us.” Jimin said, as the news didn’t just catch your attention, but Jungkook’s as well.
“He’s having a big party next weekend and we are all invited” Jimin said as Taehyung was quick to cheer. Hands up in the air as he started cheering loudly.
He loves parties, mostly those that have a ton of alcohol. For some reason he loves alcohol, a little too much you would say. It sometimes takes Jimin, Jungkook and you to get him home because he’s drunk up to his toes.
Something that definitely annoys the three of you. And you are sure that’s what he’s planning to do it again.
“You better not drink too much Taehyung” Jimin said, looking over to him as Taehyung groaned.
“But it’s a party” he said, as Jimin rolled his eyes at him. “And? This is important to Seokjin” he added, something that made you want to laugh.
Jimin is always the one scolding him. Well he’s always the one scolding all of you. One wrong move that you do in front of Jimin and it’s over for you. You have made a bunch, so you know from experience.
He’s always the one splitting the fights up, mostly between you and Taehyung. It’s not real fights but more of bickering between the two of you. Which Jimin always has to split the fight because he says you guys are childish.
You find it funny though.
As Taehyung was about to say something else, the sound of knocking was what brought you all back. Making you all look at each other.
“I didn’t invite anyone else” Jimin said, sitting up from the chair as he walked over to the door. He suddenly looked towards the table, eyeing you all.
“If it’s the police, we give Taehyung right away” he added, something that made you and Jungkook laugh. Watching as Taehyung just gasped.
Slowly, Jimin opened the door. Peeking his head over the door as the person in front of the door was familiar. Which also made him feel relieved.
Looking over to the table, he smiled. “It’s not the police, sadly” he joked, as he opened the door wider.
“But it’s for you, Jungkook” he added, stepping away from the door as Jungkook was quick to rush over to the door. And soon enough he smiled.
“Hana” he said, as you watched the female walk in, being received by Jungkook. Who wrapped his arms around her, something she did back.
Hana is Jungkook’s girlfriend. They have been dating for two years, at least that’s what you remember. He always tends to bring her to these kinds of things. If he’s there, so is she. Always showing her face around.
She’s beautiful, of course she is. She is a model, not one of those big runway models, but she works in a modeling agency. She has black short hair, she’s tall, not too tall, but she is. Her eyes are light brown, a bit narrowed. A beautiful smile surrounding her face, and well she was pale. Not too pale but she was.
She’s quite the female. But something about her isn’t to your liking. You don’t hate her or have anything against her. You just don’t talk to her.
There’s no reason for you to talk to her, you don’t even talk to her boyfriend. That would be weird if you did. So there’s some distance between the two of you. Between all of you with her honestly.
She’s much closer to Jungkook. So when it comes to Jimin and Taehyung they only smile at her from time to time to be nice. But that’s all.
Like you said, she only gets invited to these meetings because of Jungkook. Otherwise she wouldn’t even be here.
As she walked closer towards the table, you suddenly heard your phone ringing. Making you take it out from your purse. As the sudden name flashed on your screen you felt a sudden frustration again, making you roll your eyes.
Ignoring the call, you placed the phone on the table. Watching as Hana and Jungkook sat on the table, the two beside each other.
And right as the call ended, messages came in flowing one after another. Something that made you annoyed. Looking over your phone, you read each one of them and soon enough you took a deep breath.
“I will order something, what do you guys want?” Jimin asked, as you quickly stood up from the chair.
“I would love to stay more but i have to go” you said, putting your phone into your pocket as more messages came flowing through your phone.
“What’s wrong?” Jimin asked, as he stood up as well, following behind you. With a smile, you shook your head.
“Nothing, enjoy the night” you said, as you soon walked out of the apartment. Jimin could only watch you walk away, as the sound of someone’s footsteps were heard from behind him.
“She will be fine, she dealt with him before” Taehyung assured him as Jimin could only nod. He felt annoyed at your situation, but he knew you had it handled.
And with that, they continued. Of course Jungkook noticed your absence but he didn’t dare to ask why you left. He didn’t care, nor did he want to know.
✨ BTS x Reader Interactive Story – Your Input Needed! ✨
Hey everyone! I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a BTS x Reader interactive story, something that will grow over time on my page, it'll allow you all to shape the story through choices, branches, and different endings.
I'm still deciding on whether or not each BTS member would have their own route or if I would continue to include you all in a potential poll vote each update to help decide on which next potential route to take, leading to good, bad, and even secret endings based on the choices made. But right now, this idea is still in the brainstorming phase—which means everything is still up in the air!
Before I dive into anything, I’d love to hear your thoughts and get your input on which direction you’d love to see this go!
Here are a few foundation ideas I’ve been considering:
1️⃣ Behind the Spotlight – The reader works at BigHit (as a photographer, stylist, PR staff, etc.), giving a behind-the-scenes look into their world. Balancing professionalism with personal connections becomes a challenge.
2️⃣ Serendipity – A more casual setting where the reader meets BTS by chance (coffee shop, bookstore, neighbor, etc.), leading to unexpected friendships (or more).
3️⃣ Colliding Worlds – The reader is an artist, dancer, or songwriter collaborating with BTS on a project. Creative passion, tension, and deep conversations ensue.
4️⃣ The Spotlight Test – The reader is a contestant in a reality show or competition, where BTS are judges, mentors, or fellow contestants. The pressure is on, but so are new connections.
✨ But nothing is set in stone yet! ✨
This is still very much in the idea stage, so I’d love to know what excites you the most or if you have a unique twist or idea you'd love to see in an interactive BTS story. Any and all input is appreciated!
Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and if this idea picks up, it could turn into something really fun for all of us to enjoy together!
Story: You knew being an intern at BigHit wouldn’t be easy, but you’d never imagined Jungkook would make it even harder.
You are a new intern at Big Hit, and you get to meet the boys. Set in the real world (as opposed at an AU), and just before the Love Yourself: Tear Comeback. 1.8k words in this chapter.
|||||||||| 1 ||||||||||
The harsh and unforgiving buzz of your 6am alarm screeches through your bedroom, penetrating the soft blankets and making its way into your dream. For a second your thoughts are confused and muddled with the morning noise, but then you feel your body wake with a start.
Today’s the day.
Hurriedly you push the blankets off your body and slip out of bed, into your comfiest dressing gown and the ridiculously old slippers you refuse to replace. Their sentimental value outweighs their depreciating quality, so you continue to wear them to pieces.
Your internship starts today. With Big Hit.
You couldn’t believe your luck at being chosen from over 15, 000 college applicants, especially as Korean was only your second language, (though you were undeniably fluent), and you had just arrived in Seoul a little over six months ago. Somehow you had been picked, and your astonishment had turned into realisation and immense butterflies in the weeks since the fateful letter had arrived. And now today was finally the day.
Big Hit was such a huge contributor to K-pop and the music industry through BTS, but most of all it was an undeniably successful music production company. You were overwhelmed at the thought of being able to see first-hand the work that goes into such a huge corporation, and as a business major it was pretty much all you could think about. Most of your friends had been shocked at the prospect of you being near BTS for 4 months, but you just couldn’t keep your mind off the school side of things. After all, that was why you applied, and no doubt they were going to be perfectly normal boys anyway. Well, men.
The shower was warm and enjoyable as it flooded over your body, and you shut your eyes for deeper enjoyment. Mixed with the sound of light rain from outside, the butterflies in your stomach were almost calming rather than anxiety-inducing. You shave, and wash your body and your hair - the light and flowery scents were your favourites, and you’re all too aware your self-presentation will be taken into account by all officials you meet.
Hopping out, you put on your pre-selected outfit, looking at yourself in your bedroom’s full-length mirror. A white button-up shirt, with tightly flattering black jeans cuffed at the ankles and your faithful black and white vans. You look presentable, yet still young and obviously intern-esque. Appropriate for an 19 year old intern, you thought.
Heading through to the kitchen, you quickly pop some 3-minute oatmeal into the microwave, and begin cutting up the banana and strawberries to go with it. Your tiny kitchen hugs around you reassuringly, and you look around gratefully. It was truly the perfect apartment, modern yet tiny and with a surprisingly modest rent. In the middle of a strawberry cut your phone rings, and you check it with nervousness. A text from Shia, your best friend and long-suffering brother’s girlfriend.
“Good luck, Y/N! We all love you and are rooting for you!”
Beneath was an adorable photo of them together with your parents, giving you genuine open mouthed smiles and a thumbs up. You couldn’t help but smile too, it was too damn cute. No doubt it had been taken in advance, since the time difference had to be accounted for. You quickly tapped out a thankful reply, sent it, and retrieved your warm oatmeal from the microwave to dig into the early breakfast.
7:30am
Your phone buzzes again, this time reminding you to take your daily birth control pill. Gulping it down with water, you wondered why you were even still bothering. It’d been almost a whole year since your last kiss with a boy, let alone anything more promiscuous than that. Still, shorter periods was a plus and you didn’t seem to have any negative side effects, so you figured it was somewhat worth the routine and $30 a month. Seeing the time, you grabbed your bag and double checked you had everything you could possibly need. Gum, cards, offical ID… everything seemed to be in its rightful place, which seemed promising. You’d even remembered to fill up your metal bottle with fresh cold water and ice, which you loved regardless of the raining weather outside. Stepping out of the apartment, you locked the door behind you and headed down the copious stairs leading to the outside of the building. Sure, you didn’t have to be there until 8:30am and public transport would get you there by 8:10 - you still wanted to be on time for one of the events that could turn into a momentous event for your college work, or even your career.
7:40am
The train is packed, and you find yourself squished between a businessman who pays you no attention and an old lady carrying three purses. The smell is rather damp, and the Monday mood is evident throughout all passengers’ moods. You were undeniably glad you had remembered your tiny bottle of perfume, your favourite travel-sized scent; a little bottle of Marc Jacobs in the scent ‘Daisy’.
A young boy, most likely around 17 is eyeing you up and down from across the train, and his eyes are making you slightly uncomfortable. Sure, you have a nice body and you’re not stranger to their gaze, but it never gets easier being openly gawped at. You shift from foot to foot, hoping that the train has no delays and he doesn’t get off at your stop. He gets off one before, and makes sure to brush against your ass as he makes his way past and out the doors. Gross.
8:10am
You try the door of Big Hit Entertainment nervously, only to be met with resistance. Looking next to the door, you see a keypad clearly needing a set of around 5 numbers to be punched in. Dammit. Shit. How fucking awkward. Waving through the clear door, you try and get the attention of the woman behind the front desk. Eying you with a steeled look, she simply goes back to her mundane work. She must think you’re just a crazed fan. Perfect.
Knocking again, she looks up with clear annoyance on her face. You quickly snatch your ID and the acceptance letter from your bag and bang them against the glass, motioning for her to come and take a closer look. Clearly rolling her eyes, she gets up in a clear movement of frustration.
Once close enough, her eyes go wide and the look on her face is replaced with that of surprise. She swiftly punches numbers in, and the door swings open. Some of the fans who had been standing further back, from the other side of the road start to rush forward, and as soon as you’re through the door she slams the door behind you.
Now up close, you see she’s quite beautiful with wide doe-eyes and perfectly Korean features. She looks as through as was ripped straight from the pages of a magazine, particularly in her dark blue dress that’s tight and works her small curves to the best of their ability. Her lengthy legs in their sky-high heels make her a good 10 inches taller than you, and you feel considerably uglier in comparison.
“I am SO sorry,” she gushes. “I thought you’d be older, and not here until at least 8:30. Again, I seriously apologise! You must think me so rude.”
Her previous annoyance has been completely wiped away, and she now flashes you a sheepish and apologetic smile.
You give her a quick, reassuring smile back, and even laugh a little about the situation.
“No doubt young girls like me try and get in all the time, no doubt! I definitely don’t blame you for being good at your job!”
She laughs in return at this, nodding enthusiastically.
“You’d be astonished at how many young girls want a glimpse of BTS, it’s no wonder they come in through the back! I’m Jinwah, by the way, it’s nice to meet you Y/N… even if our first meeting has been a little difficult!”
You flick your wrist up and check the time on your small gold watch, a present from your father before you'd left for Korea. Your deep sentiment definitely transcends no-longer-fuzzy slippers. 8:24. Definitely time to go.
“I’m so sorry, but I definitely have to get to where I’m supposed to be now. Room 753?” you ask quizzically.
“Take the elevator to floor 14, then it’s the 8th door on your right. Good luck!”
She flashes you another award-winning smile, and you can’t help but seriously like this girl. We could definitely become friends while you’re here, in fact, you might make it a personal goal. You could do with more friends in Korea, since you’re currently sitting at only two.
You send a quick “thanks!” her way, and walk over to the elevator. Pushing the button, it pops open right away for you. Getting in, you repeat to yourself that it’s the eighth door to your right, and you punch in the 14th floor.
Whizzing up, your stomach is in knots as you attempt to mentally prepare yourself for your first impressions. A spritz of your perfume and the doors open, allowing you to step into a white-walled and modern looking hallway. It screams office building, and the buzz of talking is thick. People are all throughout the hallway, and going in and out of the rooms, much busier than the lobby downstairs. You suppose they must all come in through the secretive back entrance, being staff and all. A large and busy woman in a black and white dress notices you, and comes striding towards you with her clipboard. Her smile makes you less nervous, though you feel exceedingly out of place and awkward.
“Welcome! You must be my intern, yes? You’re Y/N?”
Her smile and her warm demeanour melts your butterflies, and you feel much better having met the woman who you’ll be shadowing for the next few month.
“Yes, that’s me,” you reply, “I’m very honoured and excited to be here!”
“Good, good!” She replies, bustling with enthusiasm. “Shall we get started? The very first thing I’ll have you do is meet the boys, they’re all in dance practice right now so I’m sure they’ll be happy to have a quick break.”
She says this with a chuckle, but you suddenly feel nervous again.
8:45am
On our way towards the room you hear it from all the way down the hall. The loud, banging sound of all their feet falling to the floor in synchronisation, and it sounds almost mesmerising with their music playing in the background.
She doesn’t even bother knocking, and simply opens the door with blatant familiarity. Of course she knows the boys well, you chastise yourself. It’s you who’s the outsider.

I tell you another name for love and let it bloom in your soul. Maybe if it wasn't caused of me, you wouldn't become the devil. You would be a good boy, like you supposed to be.
It was me.
Every middle-night I hold your hand and stared at you deeply. Give an intoxicating smile and give you dissatisfaction.
I brought you into the darkness and took control of you, took away all of you. Your blood, your sweat, and your tears.
You plug in your earbuds, turning up the volume of your favorite song as you were walking down a path through your favorite park. You loved to walk in the late evening, the many thoughts which were roaming through your head quickly forgotten as you enjoyed the music you were listening to and the view you had as you walked through the park.
Not many people were taking walks through the park and the ones who were, they were walking their dog for the last time today before they all would go to bed soon. The street lamps were illuminating the path you were walking on but that was basically it, you couldn’t see much else which you didn’t mind.
You lived in a small town where everybody knows each other, if something happens everyone would know, if someone new moved into town it would spread like a wild fire and you always felt like you were the last one to know it.
Not that you complained, all the gossip thingy wasn't really your cup of tea, but at the end you always find out what happens whether you want to or not. The late night walks were your special time when you were able to think your life through and it also seemed to be the best for making decisions.
At that time, immersed into music, you suddenly felt something odd. A shiver started to go up and down your spine as a strange feeling hit you, causing you to turn around. You know those awkward situations when you feel the need of raising your head only to see someone looking away from you? The feeling of being watched. This is how you felt, but there were no eyes to meet neither anyone to catch a glimpse of.
Seeing darkness as the only one around you, you shrug it off and turned around once again, deciding to get back home. It was just in your head, wasn't it?
You reached your place and sighed, making yourself comfortable on the sofa. At that point you were able to hear some excited voices coming from the kitchen, which seemed to belong to your mother and aunt. It could only mean that there are some gossips you haven't heard yet. It's only a matter of whether they're good or bad news.
Out of boredom you were watching the TV, switching channels every 2 seconds because nothing interesting seemed to be airing right now. You let out a sigh before pushing yourself up from the couch. “I guess it’s bed time”
Your mother and aunt were still talking in the kitchen, drawn to their voices you walked over to the kitchen first. Standing in the doorway with your head leaning against the side of the door, both women turned their heads to you and showed an exciting smile.
“So what’s the big news?” You asked out of curiosity, your mother and aunt first looked at each other and grinned before returning their gaze. “A new family moved into town!” They said simultaneously.
“They live on the other side of town, past the woods” Your mother said. “And they have a son, who is about your age” Your aunt added with a wink.
You rolled your eyes. “You guys still amaze me, how does news spread itself so fast?”
A hand was placed on your shoulder and you heard your dad speak from behind. “Women gossip like crazy” You looked up at your dad with one eyebrow raised. “Except you of course” he quickly added with a chuckle.
Looking back at your mother and aunt, they were talking to each other again while your dad walked into the kitchen into the direction of the fridge. “I’m going to bed” You announced with a yawn. “Goodnight!”
The next day, just around your usual time, you were walking through the park again, a thought of the new family lingering around your mind. It wasn't too often when a new family decided to move in, so it surely had to make some ruckus in the villager's lives. Curiosity of how they look like and why they came here in the first place started to grow on you, though you weren't really eager to admit it. Another thing is that you tend to see most of the people on a daily basis, but there was no sign of any strangers. Do they not come out of their houses?
You turned around rapidly as this strange feeling hit you again. You couldn't say if there wasn't anyone hiding in the darkness, but you took a few steps where you came from. A pure silence was only broken by sounds of night animals, who have already came out to look for food.
Your head snapped to the side. Are you getting paranoid? You could swear you heard something.
Turning back to where you were going before, you gulped and tried to ignore the feeling heading back home. You thought it was just a one time experience, but it happened again and again, and again. To the point that you completely stopped taking walks in the park.
It was another evening where you did not spend it outside, peacefully walking around the park. It involved you and the couch, with the TV on some random channel which only got half of your attention.
Finding something new to enjoy was a tough thing to do, you tried several things; drawing, which you were half decent at, playing the piano, which wasn’t too bad but your parents didn’t want you to play it a few minutes before they headed off to bed. It just wasn’t the same and it didn’t give you the same satisfaction as with walking around in the park.
You grabbed the remote and turned off the TV, walking out of the living room up the stairs and straight to your bedroom. Laying down on your bed while plugging in your earbuds, as the soft music started to play you closed your eyes and carefully listened to the lyrics.
After a good few minutes you jumped off the bed.
'Fuck it' you thought and prepared yourself to go outside. You missed your special time so much that you couldn't even think in peace. Nothing ever happened to you besides this strange feeling of being watched, so who cares? Nothing ever happens in this city anyway.
You decided that it's best not to let your parents know that you're going out at this hour, so you chose the window of your room instead of the door. Rebelling- that's the stuff!
Proud of yourself for being less mainstream than others, you headed to the park. It was quite calm, as you didn't meet a single person on your way. Finally reaching the park, you sighed in relief and slowed down to enjoy it even more. You didn't care if there was someone hiding in the darkness, but wait... there actually was someone. Not hiding at all.
You noticed a slender silhouette walking a few steps afar from you, a boy you guessed. You've never seen him before, so the only reason you could think of was because he was a member of this new family, who has just moved in. Interesting.
You looked up, the clouds hide the stars. Pity… The only sound you hear comes from your shoes on the sidewalk. Looking back at the boy you noticed that the distance between the two of you was starting to shorten, just to make the distance bigger again you made your steps smaller and took some time to take in your surroundings.
You thought that in a short matter of time, the distance between you two would increase but it only decreased. ‘are you kidding me’ you said under your breath. You pulled your jacket tighter around your shoulders as you focused on the figure in front of you, all of the clothing that he was wearing has the color black, making it easy for him to blend in with the darkness.
The funny thing was that he didn't seem to notice you, although you could sense otherwise. It was either a pure coincidence or he was good at hiding the usual reflexes people have. You kept on staring at him, thinking that he might eventually turn around and at least greet you, but he was pretty much more interested in the woods rather than you. You could see him looking to the side and followed his gaze. For as long as you've been walking in the darkness, your eyes have already gotten used to it, so you noticed two shiny spots in between the trees. This little night animal didn't make any sound at all, you wouldn't even notice it if not for the boy walking ahead from you. The atmosphere became really weird once you realized that you're nearly out of the park, but there was no strange feeling you used to feel. Does this have anything to do with the boy you've just seen? You raised your gaze from your shoes and looked around in confusion. Where did he go?
You looked carefully at the trees again, the animal was still in its place but something didn’t seem right… You walked straight into the direction where the boy previously was, heartbeat quickening as you got closer to the woods. ‘Why am I even following him?’ you questioned yourself.
Walking around in the park past midnight is one of the most stupidest things you have ever done, but also following a complete stranger in the middle of the night who might not be so ‘friendly’ is basically screaming for trouble.
A gust of cold wind hit your skin, the hair on the back of your neck rises and goosebumps appear on your arms. ‘great’ you mumble. ‘I might just freeze to death if it gets colder’
The oh so familiar yet unpleasant feeling you felt a few days ago whenever you walked through the park was back, it felt like you were being watched, making you feel uneasy and on edge for any sudden events.
Before you could even think about anything else you rapidly turned around and made your way to the path again, feeling the need of going straight home. You're not going to get yourself into some shit just like this, no way.
Right when you stepped out of the tree line you met someone's gaze and stopped, turning your head around, looking back.
"But you were here just now." You mumbled, pointing at the woods. The guy cringed at your gestures.
"You shouldn't go so deep into the woods at this hour." He answered keeping a cold face. You couldn't see well since the nearest lamp was quite a few meters away from you, but looked like the boy had an immensely skeptical expression.
"Where do you live? Go back home."
"What about you?"
“It’s none of your business” The guy answered coldly. “Now go”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Why?”
A heavy sigh was heard before the guy took a few steps closer to you. “listen” He spoke with a deep voice. “It’s not safe here, definitely not at this hour” You didn’t say a word, instead you waited for him to further explain. “Creatures are hiding in these woods, some do not hesitate to attack you when getting close to them”
You did not believe the words this guy spoke, you were most certain that he is hiding something. You have lived in this city your whole entire life and not once have you heard about strange things happening in these woods involving animals or other creatures.
"Nothing ever happens in here. You're new so you have all the rights not to know." You talked back and took a few steps forward to eventually go home, until a cold hand gripped your wrist and turned you around.
"I see and hear more than you ever will be. Believe what you want, just don't regret not taking my words seriously later." He said with a bit of a harsh tone in his deep voice. You shivered at his presence. Not knowing what's going on with this guy, you pulled your hand out of his grip, a sparkle of fear shown in your eyes. What should you do now? Run? Stay still? Lay down and pretend that you're dead?
"I'll walk you home." The guy sighed and started to go down the path, dragging you along.
Walking with him doesn’t put you at ease, in fact. He makes you more nervous. You try to push your anxiety away. “What’s your name?”
Silence
As you switched your gaze to see the guy’s face, you noticed that he was in deep trance. you waved your hand in front of his face, hoping he was snap out of it. Which, he luckily did.
“sorry, did you say something?” He asked as he scratched the back of his neck.
“What’s your name” You repeated your question with a small smile.
“Namjoon” He said. “And yours?”
“___” You answered, breaking eye contact with him, looking back at the path ahead of you.
"Nice to meet you. You're actually the first person I talked to after moving in." He calmly said, looking straight ahead, not giving you a glance.
"Why did your family move in?" You asked curiously, but hesitantly at the same time. He's a stranger after all. A weird one.
Silence was all he gave you once again, so you dropped your gaze to the path. Of course he won't tell you, why would he?
"Is this your home?" He asked after a good few minutes of silence.
"Yes. Thanks for walking me home... I guess." You mumbled, not sure what to do or say. A layer of mystery seemed to cover him, though you weren't sure if you liked it or not.
"No problem." Was all he said, causing you to look at him awkwardly. With an uneasy smile, you stepped back, leading yourself home.
"Goodbye, Namjoon." You said and turned around, only now remembering that you can't get in by the door. Here goes your less mainstream self.
"Something wrong?" Namjoon asked with a concerned expression, which encouraged you a bit.
"Guess I need to use the window." You sighed and got to the back of the building.
You heard footsteps behind you, knowing that Namjoon was following you to the back of your house. “Need any help?” You heard him ask. As you looked up to your window, you were questioning how you even got down in the first place without hurting yourself. “Don’t think so” You replied back without looking at him.
‘aish’ you thought. ‘my parents will kill me if I wake them up at this hour, especially when I’m standing outside’ you pushed back a strand of hair behind your ear while coming up with a plan. A few minutes have passed as you were still staring at the window above you, not a single idea came up inside your head. Nothing.
“I could give you a boost” Namjoon suggested, the sound of footsteps coming closer to you. ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ you mentally face palmed yourself as you turned around to face Namjoon. “That should work” you send him a small smile before getting closer to the wall.
The next thing that happened was a big shock to you. You'd think he will link his hands so you can place your foot on them, but no, before you could even blink he lifted you up and put you on the windowsill. How is this even possible? You kept on looking down at him, frozen while he only smirked at your expression.
"You're strong." You just mumbled in confusion, turning to the side so you can open your window. Namjoon chuckled and slid his hands into the pockets of his coat.
"Kinda." He simply answered and waited for you to get through the window to your bedroom. Once in, you faced him and observed, yet he was doing the same thing.
"I'll see you around I guess." His voice broke the silence.
"Will you be at the park tomorrow?"
"I think so."
You nodded your head in response and closed the window, watching as he vanished in the darkness. Are you even going to fall asleep this night?
As you walked over to your bed, you were still questioning how Namjoon could have lifted you up so easily? Thanks to your incredible imagination, your thoughts ran wild with possible reasons why his strength was so great.
‘lot of time spent in the gym?’
‘I’m not that heavy?’
‘Mythical creature?’
After you sat down on your bed, you immediately stood up again and walked over to your laptop which was placed on your desk. Opening it up, you pressed in the power button and waited for your laptop to start up.
You were going to search on the internet about the mythical creatures that could possibly exist and possess such great strength. Typing away on your laptop in search of websites with information, time flew by and before you knew it, it was already past 3 A.M.
A yawn slipped past your lips after you had a quick glance at the digital clock in the down right corner of your laptop. ‘oh’ you realized that it would be best to go to bed and get as much sleep as you can, luckily college starts around 10 A.M every Monday and you need to get out of bed around 8.
Because you lived in such a small town, you needed to travel to the big city which takes quite some time to get there and go to college. You didn’t mind it though yet your parents did, They both agreed that a young woman shouldn’t travel alone, especially to a big city where crimes are more likely to be committed. They believe that you should stay in town and find a job, settle down at the right age with Mr. Right.
You didn't think it was that much of a good idea though. You wanted to educate yourself and find a well-paid job on one of the busy streets of a big city. It's probably a dream of everyone who spent the whole life living in a village like you did. Mopping the floor in a nearby school or working as a cashier in an exceptionally small superette wasn't your life goal and although you'll surely miss your family, you've made up your mind quite some time ago.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once prepared, you got out of home to head to university, recalling the evening before on your way.
'Mythical creatures? What was I even thinking?' You thought shaking your head. No, nothing like that exists right? Somehow at night everything seemed more possible than during the day. The night was to blame. That's what you tried to convince yourself to at least.
Deep inside, you still felt hesitant about this statement, but the closer you were getting to the big city, the more right it seemed, as you watched how normal people's lives were. Quick breakfast, work, work, dinner, work, home. There was no place for a mythical creature except for fantasy books. Or was it?
As you stepped inside the train, there were a few empty seats. Plenty to choose from, so you chose one next to a window. As you sat down you placed your bag on the empty seat beside you, opening it up to grab your earbuds before closing it again. The train started to ride after all passengers got on board, your gaze immediately focuses on the window after you had plugged in your earbuds and hit the ‘play’ button so you could listen to some music.
A few train stations have passed, more people got on and some got off the train, Roughly an hour has passed and you were now getting out of the train, still listening to music. You walked out of the train station and towards your university. A few familiar faces greeted you as you got closer to the university, two of your friends greeted you with a big smile and a cup of coffee. ‘We thought you would need it’ one of them told you as they handed over the cup with hot liquid inside of it. You thanked them before taking a small sip from it.
'I think I might really need it.' You said while laughing and sat down on one of the nearby benches, knowing that there was still some time left before the lecture.
'Did something happen?' A friend asked with concern in her voice, but you waved your hand to show that it's fine, since your mouth was occupied with coffee.
'Nothing important.' You eventually said, sighing at how good the coffee felt. 'I just had some thoughts running around my head, which obviously didn't have anything to do with learning.' You added causing your friends to laugh. After talking for a few minutes you decided to head to the university and threw away the empty coffee cup on your way.
Sitting on the lecture, you still couldn't focus on the topic nor did you make any notes thanks to this new family who moved in. It felt kind of strange - who would even want to come there in the first place? But your experiences with this boy was even more weird whatsoever.
'God, why am I here.' You mumbled to yourself sensing a coming up headache.
You needed to sit through this lecture, 50 minutes left before you could head off home. You turned your gaze away from the professor and now it was set on your bag beside you. ‘should I go home?’ you thought. As you briefly considered going home, you remembered that you had some aspirins in your bag so you immediately searched through your bag for an aspirin and a bottle of water.
‘I can sit through this’ you mumbled to yourself before opening your mouth and placing the pill on your tongue, after a few sips from your bottle, you closed it off with the cap and placed it back inside your back.
Your notebook was open and you were holding a pen in your hand, you knew that you wouldn’t regain your focus on this lecture so instead you were making some silly doodles until a voice was heard on your right side. ‘Miss ___!’ the professor called out slightly irritated. ‘are you drawing in my class?’ emphasizing the words ‘drawing’ and ‘my’. You knew this meant bad news…
‘Sorry sir’ you apologized as you looked up from your notebook, examining the professor his facial expression. Disappointment and slight anger
'If you're so bored, you can now pack your belongings and head home.' He sternly said before gesturing to the exit. You looked at him once again and moved your gaze to the door, torn in between getting out of here and showing your best manners. 'Excellent. Now focus on the topic, Miss.' The man said, while turning around, but you've already made up your mind. You're not going to stand a minute more.
'Excuse me, Sir, but I don't feel all too well. I'll head home.' You mumbled, not giving your professor a single glance before walking out of the room. You could feel everyone's eyes on your back, but you didn't care anymore. The pills you took aren't helping much, at least for the time being.
'Damn you, sun.' You cursed when you found yourself standing at the bus stop so you could get back home. Sun apparently thought that it's the best time to shine brightly, causing your headache to level up. Such a great day. You were sure that the only thing which could possibly decrease the pain was your favorite park. Praying the night time to come quickly.
As you finally arrived home with a terrible headache, you threw your bag on the couch and plopped yourself down too. ‘stupid pills’ you thought as you placed your elbow on the couch and rested your head on the palm of your hand.
With your free hand you grabbed the remote from the small table in front of you and pressed the ‘power’ button. The channel it was on already didn’t bother, you could barely focus on anything right now. All you wanted was some noise echoing through the house since you were alone for another few hours, and the sound of nothingness wasn’t exactly something that comforted you in a rather big house.
You changed your position on the couch, now laying comfortably on it while your eyes are closed. Carefully listening to the TV, you felt yourself grow more tired. ‘a nap should do the trick’ you thought before sleep took over you…
You woke up in your own bed, which to a half awake person didn't feel suspicious at all. You didn't even remember that you came home after the lecture - or maybe 'during' would be a better word. Especially since your head stopped pulsing like before, you didn't think about anything and just looked out the window, seeing a whole black sky. Excellent, here goes your walk.
You sighed and rolled around to lay on the other side. The view that was presented to you nearly gave you a panic attack. Someone was in your room. Sitting exactly next to you.
'What the fuck?!' You whispered angrily when your eyes got used to the darkness and you were able to tell that this face belonged to Namjoon. 'The fuck are you doing in my house?!' You raised your voice a bit, grabbing the blanket you were covered in and pulling it up to your chin. Even in the darkness you could see that Namjoon's face expressed concern.
'You weren't in the park today.' He stated calmly. 'While walking next to your home, I saw through the window that you were down on the floor, it worried me.'
‘how did you get in?’ you asked, completely ignoring his previous explanation. Namjoon scratched the back of his neck as he let out a deep sigh. ‘Does it really matter?’
‘Of course it matters!’ you said, raising your voice as you pulled down the blanket. ‘you know what? Never mind, please get out of my house’ frustration and anger were starting to get the best of you, sitting up straight as you looked Namjoon dead in the eye, you waited for him to finally move.
‘Please don’t’ he pleaded. ‘I don’t want to leave you alone’
You knew that Namjoon wouldn’t answer the question that you gave him and that frustrated you. ‘what is he keeping from me?’ you thought as you still held eye contact with Namjoon. You felt something warm touch your hand, breaking the eye contact you had, you looked down and saw that Namjoon’s hand was placed over yours. ‘___, don’t make me leave. Please’ he pleaded again.
'Why? You sneaked into my freaking house and dragged me to bed, how am I not supposed to freak out?!' You said angrily and wanted to free your hand, but he gripped it tighter. His one felt very cold compared to yours, sending shivers down your spine. It must have been freezing outside.
'I don't want anything bad to happen to you. You interested me.' He replied, once again looking you in the eyes. The dark room only emphasized the glow in his eyes.
'I don't understand.' You eventually managed to mumble after a few seconds of silence. 'Please, leave. I'm confused.' You added, looking away to avoid any more eye contact. The whole situation was so strange and Namjoon himself was weird enough. You weren't sure what exactly was going on, but you had to find out, since it seemed to revolve around you.
Without another word being spoken, you felt a weight being lifted from your bed, meaning Namjoon stood up from where he was sitting. ‘as you wish’ he said as his gaze was now focused on anything but you. You made sure that the dark figure didn’t leave your eyesight as he made his way towards your bedroom door, opening it and letting a few strands of light come through, for only a split second before the door was closed again, leaving you alone in the darkness.
‘what do I do?’ you mumbled to yourself as you slid down under your blankets again, letting out a heavy sigh, you turned your head towards your bedroom window. ‘Did he get in through the window?’
‘not possible’ you whispered, obviously not believing your own theory.
It was honestly burdening to think about, but no matter how hard you tried to forget, the thought about this mysterious guy seemed to be stuck to your head. With a heavy sigh, you eventually decided. You're going to ask him. Straightforwardly. No excuses. Truthfully, you were sick of this situation to the point that you couldn't even sleep a single night in your own bed. Already feeling better as if a weight was moved off your shoulders, you fell asleep only to dream a regular dream and wake up to a regular morning. Just one decision could make one feel so relieved. Why didn't you think about it before?
Fortunately that day was the start of a weekend, so you didn't have to rush anywhere. You were just going to wait until evening and go out to the park as you used to, hoping that he'll be there as well.
You walked the ‘oh so familiar’ route to the woods, entering it without any hesitation. As you walked through it, knowing where to take a right turn. It felt like something was watching you, every step you made, every breath you took. It knew what you were doing…
It freaked you out a little bit, so you did what any other person would do. You picked up your pace and walked faster, not looking back, only straight ahead. Every little sound you heard made you think something was getting closer and closer to you, the beat of your heart quickening as your legs grew tired.
‘this can’t be happening’ you thought before pushing a strand of hair behind your ear. ‘Be cool ___, nothing is following you’ you reassured yourself as you took in your surroundings, standing still as you did so.
Nothing broke the moment of silence, not a sound, but this strange feeling didn't want to let you out of its grip. After a few seconds you decided that there's no point in standing still anymore, since it began to freak you out even more. For a bare moment, you even though about ghosts. However as soon as you took your first step, you could feel a strong hand wrapping around your mouth while dragging you into the shadow of trees with a speed of a lighting. You wanted to scream, but due to shock, you weren't able to as you couldn't comprehend the situation. Before you knew, the speed wasn't there anymore as you couldn't feel nearly slaying wind anymore. All that you could hear was a heavy breath behind you and your quiet squeaks, which more likely resembled sobbing.
'It's dangerous in here. You shouldn't be walking alone.' You heard a familiar voice certainly filled with anger
You quickly turned around, and immediately pushed him away. ‘What the hell!’ you exclaimed loudly. ‘were you following me the whole time?’
He nodded his head. ‘I told you before, it’s dangerous in here’ He took a step closer, the moonlight breaking through the big tree branches created some sort of spotlight for him. Namjoons head was hanging low, hands in the pockets of his coat not daring to make any eye contact with you.
He was acting really strange…
A gust of cold wind hit your skin, shivers ran down your spine and the usual animal noises inside the woods quieted down, you felt the atmosphere change, it didn’t make you feel uncomfortable since Namjoon was nearby but you didn’t feel safe.
You were too focused on your surroundings that you didn’t notice Namjoon getting closer to you, leaving only a few centimeters between you in. ‘___’ He spoke lowly.
You looked up and expected to meet his eyes, but he was still avoiding any way of making eye-contact. ‘what?’ you responded.
‘We need to go’ He says, swiftly grabbing your hand and walking into an unknown direction. ‘Where are we going?’ you ask while pushing tree branches out of the way. ‘To my house’ He answers before taking an unexpectedly sharp turn.
You could feel a firm grip on your wrist as he picked up the pace and dragged you along in between the tall, dark trees. There was a battle going on in your mind, waiting for one of the sides to win. The first one was getting the hell out of here and the other one complying due to curiosity. So many weird situations revolved around this guy and you surely weren't the one to pretend that nothing's wrong.
'Where are we going?' You gasped as the pace of running was too much for your poor lungs to handle.
'Already told you, my house.' Namjoon answered in a perfectly non-breathless state - opposite to you. There were some more questions that you wanted to ask, but neither of the words wanted to escape your mouth.
After some more time, the both of you found yourself no more in between trees, but in front of a big, kind of old looking house.
'No need to keep quiet. You'll be heard anyway.' Namjoon stated, when he saw you stepping ever so carefully.
‘heard by who?’ You kept asking questions, many left unanswered which frustrated you. The grip on your wrist loosened up a bit and you took this opportunity to break free from it. ‘answer my question’ You demand, frustration building up inside of you.
Namjoon let out a big sigh as he turned around. ‘If you come inside, all questions will be answered’ he briefly spoke before turning around, not bothering to grab your wrist again and drag you inside. It was up to you now, leave without these questions getting the proper answer they need or enter the house and not know what to expect.
A big gust of wind went through the woods, the branches on the tall trees surrounding the house moving while the animals which usually make their selves known at this time were still quiet. Leaving now with all these unusual things happening will not be the safest choice you have made so far in your life, but it’s pretty high on your list.
You might not have fully admitted it yet but it wasn’t Namjoon’s beauty or charm that had you so intrigued. There was something about him. Something that made you feel warm and safe. You didn’t know what it was, but you found yourself back at the same place every single night after school had ended. Waiting for him.
Stepping into his house for the first time was quite of an experience. You expected the insides to be modern although having a very old fashioned look on the outside. It turned out that you were wrong. When you closed the door behind you, your gaze started to move around the hall, trying to get a grip of the overalls. The hall was long enough to remind you of some old castles that you've seen in movies. A long red carpet, wooden furniture, torches instead of usual lamps. You had to admit that it creeped you out.
'This light is more healthy for us.'
You turned around only to see Namjoon standing behind you, even though you were sure he stepped into the house first.
What is this house? Living in a small village such as yours, you should know everything about it. Surprisingly enough no one has ever mentioned it in a conversation. You only knew that it has a place, nothing more. Nothing useful.
'Will you please tell me what the hell is going on?'
‘I suppose I own you an explanation’ he starts, his head lowered and eyes focused on the red carpet both of you were standing on.
‘Start explaining then’ You say impatiently.
Namjoon took a deep breath before he lifted his head and locked eyes with you. ‘w-what… the hell?’ you stutter. ‘don’t be scared’ he says while extending his arm, reaching out for you. ‘are those contacts? Are you fucking with me right now?’ you ask as you took a few steps backwards.
‘No, I’m not fucking with you ___’ He says as he walks towards you, closing the big gap that was between you two. ‘Please don’t come any closer’ You plead, as your heartbeat starts increasing with every step he takes.
‘Why? Are you scared of me?’
You didn’t answer his question because you didn’t know the answer for it. ‘Are you?’ He repeats his question, curious about what your answer will be.
