"Are you sure? You know there's no coming back from this," she says, chocolate eyes piercing my soul.
I nod frantically, eyeing the golden goblet clutched in her ringed fingers.
She swirls the cup around and lifts it to her plump lips, allowing the liquid to slide down her throat.
"No! Please!" I ask, knowing that the goblet's contents are my last chance.
She stops drinking the mixture and lifts the cup away from her mouth, red lipstick staining the gold. Her left eyebrow lifts and her face settles into a look of amusement.
"What did you say?" She asks, her voice like velvet.
"Please," I repeat.
"Beg," she says, her eyes alit from a fire usually hidden.
I sink down to my knees, eyes blurred with tears.
"Please. Please let me have it. One drop, just one. I've given you my all, please let me have this one thing,"
She crouches next to me, predatory, her black wings caressing the floor. Her left hand reaches out and cups my face, gently connecting with the warm skin beneath it.
"Close your eyes," she says, her voice hushed as if she was about to reveal a guarded secret.
I do as she says immediately, and a moment later the goblet presses against my lips. They part of their own will and the bitter liquid trickles past them. The pain is immediate and my hands wrap around my own throat, clawing at the burning. She ignores the torture and twists her fingers into my hair, pulling me forward into a kiss more painful than the poison. My breath shutters, and all at once it is over. She releases me and I fall, hitting the floor with a dull thud.
"Forever is painful," She says, no remorse in her tone.
I pull in several ragged breaths, attempting to adjust.
"I know,"
"Will you never regret it?"
"No," I say, locking eyes with the devil herself, "I will forever give you my all. My blood, sweat, and tears. My cold breath. My last dance. Take it all,"
