If Namjoon and Hobi genuinely somehow didn't know about Chris Brown's laundry list of violent acts and victims, then truly I hope they learn and grow, but not addressing this when Korean culture had Yoongi getting death threats over a scooter and they were forced to take it seriously? If they can't speak, a big ass donation coincidentally could speak for them. It's absolutely the time to step up. Hybe is NOT gonna fire BTS. They need their revenue to pay for all their frivolous lawsuits. They are in THEIR THIRTIES. They can make a big boy amends.
But why am I seeing y'all talk about these grown men as if THEY are victims? They are getting the mildest, largely respectful pushback in the world for supporting an abuser. A habitual predator. A man who is apparently now using misogynistic insults against Army for saying something. When you're even a baby little teeny tiny online reachable persona, a handful of people can make your life hell and it can be challenging to navigate even necessary and gentle criticism. I'm sure the volume can be overwhelming. But y'all are writing fan fiction of an intense angst and pain they feel over a mistake when there is zero evidence of that and EVEN IF THERE WERE, sometimes it be like that, they'll evolve or not. Like everybody has to experience growing pains and work past guilt and shame to instead become better.
And it HAS to be said that the energy would be VERY different if Chris Brown was beating on a female K-idol versus Rihanna and non-Asian women of color you don't know and his employees/team! And if Namjoon and Hoseok had rolled up to see Seungrat from Big Bang perform! Your need to pretend this men are human shaped comfort blankets instead of fallible, privileged celebrities from a conservative and mostly anti-Black culture (and consumption and mimicry do not lessen that and their need to be validated by proximity to Blackness to the point of Michael Jackson edits, Drake on the gram, and Chris fucking Brown is not good actually) is NOT more important than the reality that they are now part of normalizing Chris Brown and giving his career more buzz and more eyes. And he DIRECTLY USES HIS TIES TO ENTERTAINMENT TO GET ACCESS TO WOMEN HE SEXUALLY ASSAULTS! The cases that have reached legal action are enough, but there are MANY MORE that didn't get that far, and I don't know any gleefully violent man who has zero people scared into silence or brainwashed into submission so like...
My love to you if they mean enough to you that this is a gut-punch. I mean that sincerely. But I really think you need to step outside of your own feelings and grasp all of this. And if you can't do that yet, you probably shouldn't be posting. People's lived experiences and moral compass shouldn't have to be carefully navigated for the sake of, what, a version of BTS you made up? Sometimes fandom keeps you emotionally stunted. Re-evaluate.

Naturally, tumblr armys are the only ones who can openly handle people being disappointed about the Chris Brown thing, and hold the guys accountable w/o sounding like they're parasocial misogynists w/o morals. 🙃 People on IG won't even hold space for SA and DV victims in their own fandom who was triggered by the whole thing.
