#BTSIsNotYourAverageBoyBand
i saw this hashtag around twitter...
It was so heart warming to read short testimonies of other individuals and what BTS means to them and how they have impacted their lives.
For me, music is supposed to mean something to you and touch your heart in certain ways. Don’t get me wrong, “party” songs are fun and all but real and meaningful music is supposed to touch your heart. But when an actual artist can do that too, with their music and who they are as a person...that means the world. These people may be complete strangers but your are able to relate to one another to a certain degree that is beyond the superficial topics that are heavily prevalent in the music industry nowadays. I feel sorry for those that have not been able to experience that for themselves and to see them criticize people that have this in their life is just sad because they don’t know that feeling. Honestly, I hope that they are able to find a musician that is able to “speak” to them on a different level, someone that will give them hope, someone whose music that they are able to relate to. Obviously it does not have to BTS but just someone.
Like the hashtag entails, BTS is not an average boyband, especially not to me. They became a part of my life when I was going through a tough time...something that I had been dealing with for over two years at that time. In a way, they saved me... To those that don’t understand may think that this is overdramatic but it’s not. It is the truth. I have pretty bad anxiety and I go through depressive episodes and when I think that there is nothing on this Earth that can make me happy or help, I just watch a video of BTS or listen to their music and my day becomes that much brighter...they make it that much easier to push through. I don’t know what my life would be like without these boys (maybe I would be a bit more productive...psshh yeah right lol). Their personalities and their entire story as BTS and as individuals serve as an inspiration to others. Their lyrics and their stories resonate with me which made me love them even more. They discuss taboo topics such as mental disorders which is especially a big deal in Asian culture, they discuss loving yourself, they sing/rap about controversial topics that are real problems that real people face but no one wants to speak up about...they speak for those that can’t speak for themselves. That is beyond unbelievable and very admirable.
To non-fans they just may be another group of boys but to ARMYs they are so much more than that
