Marty is definitely bolder than George in certain ways but is very much insecure. He pushes himself a bit harder but struggles deeply. We see him playing guitar at Doc’s and it’s way more than just a hideout from bullies. Despite managing to find the courage to put together a band… He can’t even practice with them. At least not fully.

He often times has to practice his own part away from the rest of the team. They’re his friends but it’s far too nerve wracking and embarrassing to practice along with them until he already sounds like he’s at his best. Only practicing with the group once he’s already set. Jennifer and the others don’t mind but you know she has pulled him aside before and says that none of them will judge him. After all, they all started around the same time. Some even less time than him.

He doesn’t just have performance anxiety at an actual performance, it’s every, single, moment he’s around others. The ‘what if I’m no good’ and the ‘what if I’m dragging them down’ never leaves his mind. It almost makes it torture. Which sucks because he knows in his soul he wants to do this. It’s just the overwhelming thoughts of not being able to live up to what he dreams he can be that haunt him.

There are days where even though he promised to show up to practice, he just couldn’t. Some days are worse than others. His heart will be pounding. He’ll even sometimes shake after it’s all said and done. Which makes it worse because then he gets anxious thinking about how the others might notice he’s anxious and yeah…. An Anxiety loop.

Being able to play somewhere, far from the prying eyes and ears of others, a place of no judgment. It’s nice. Helped immensely create the type of environment he needed to gain some confidence. Never a discouraging word or glance from Doc.

Despite also not being the absolute biggest fan of Marty’s genre of music, he’ll randomly compliment him on a technique he displayed or two. Accidentally or otherwise leaving some nice notes about it around the place. Unconsciously doing so while he’s supposed to be writing down his thoughts on a new invention.

Because it’s from Doc, it feels genuine. Like he isn’t just saying so to try and make him feel better. The best kind of praise to a mind riddled with doubt.

Weird BTTF headcanons I have (that oddly make sense)

George always has 2 or more watches on him to tell a precise time, so he’s not late for any type of meeting with biff. One time he was late and biff deducted money from his weekly pay, so now he’s always 20-30 minutes early to everything imaginable. Even if it’s not work related, he still shows up early. Lorraine always tells him it’s fine but his paranoia really gets the best of him.

George has an odd fascination with cults, out of all things,and has written multiple short stories about the inner happenings of them. None of them were fully published due to the fact he was given letters from these cults warning him that he’d be sued if he did. He still put them in a book of short stories though.

Dave loves his job. SO. MUCH. in the AU Marty comes back to, Dave seems to have a corporate job. McDonald’s seems out the window. However, Dave climbed the ladder at work. He became a well known manager of the hill valley chain of McDonalds restaurants. People started calling him Dave McDonald (no they didn’t, he just says people do to boost his personal ego). The alliteration was PERFECT. That day Marty saw, he just so happened to have a business meeting, in which he was going to pitch a meal named after his father in celebration of his new book.

Biff is lactose intolerant. I don’t know why I just think he is.

Jennifer is always shocked by Marty’s layering. There was a day they switched closets. It’s all Jennifer wanted for her birthday. She did Marty’s makeup and everything. He was in those damn floral pants and a nice top she chose. She went into the iconic outfit and felt so cool. She loves seeing the world as him. This became a tradition. They started have them blindly go into each others closets and make atrocious outfits without seeing them.

Slick and 3D’s real names are Franklin and Seth, but they’re afraid of biff making fun of their names not knowing his GOVERNMENT NAME IS BUFORD.

Goldie gained more of a love for food after leaving his job at Lou’s because he didn’t know how good he had it there when it comes to getting food. Sure, it was greasy diner food, but he still counts it as one of the many things that sparked his love for culinary arts. He even has a food blog, or column in the newspaper, where he reviews restaurants or other food spots on hill valley based on his “mayor gold star criteria”.

More of a modern headcanon but George has an ao3 account to read fanfiction of his stories/novels. he comments on almost every one complimenting the writer even making certain headcanons canon because he liked them and they fit his characters a little too much. Yes I am serious about this one.

let me split this up a little.

love language:

i like to think that while they are affectionate, they're not much into physical touch. both doc and clara prefer deep conversations about their interests or about each other over any kind of physical contact, and they're super fine with it

doc showers clara with gifts related to her interests, including science, because this is simply the first time he ever felt truly understood with his passions (sorry marty)

clara, on the other hand, loves fo spoil doc with homemade food (especially after learning that all the man ever ate were burgers and fries)

they enjoy going to cultural events and buildings together, like museum or exhibits or theaters

clara also loves that doc is super good with children (even though the guy claims otherwise). however, thay always split their time with their kids equally - and clara lets doc spend plenty of time with his oldest child ;)

their favorite type of dates ate stargazing dates, going horse riding or just spending time at home together

wedding:

i like to think that it was a small wedding. maggie and seamus were invited, as well as william, because they did welcome kids at their wedding

they probably spent their honeymoon somewhere in nature, if they had one at all. hill valley is also nice for stargazing

they did have a cool cake though

they're also not very traditional, so they may have skipped some wedding traditions that were considered a must at that time (earning disapproving gazes from clara's parents)

General Headcanons

Okay so Let’s get one thing straight about Mr Marty Mcfly, my man is 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙚 as hell. He’s good looking okay? Don’t but, or at me mfs. Let me fucking cry because I don’t have this man in my life.

He knows hunny, he knows he’s good looking you don’t gotta tell him ;))

Okay okay fr though lets get down pat k? Okay good. Marty is sweet okay? He really is a sweetheart. He’s a good kid at heart. He knows that and so does doc. <3

Now. Here. Me. Out. He does NOT put up with peoples shit. As someone who has been bullied and harassed by his family and people at school he will throw shit down. It doesn’t matter if your friends or not, if you know him or not, he’s not putting up with peoples shit in this town.

He already had to do it enough, and he Dosent want other people to have to either. Trust me he 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙨 he fucking knows.

He loves doc he really does. After everything they’ve been through together, it’s brought them closer than ever. They are very close to each other considering the fact Marty met him when he was like 13.

Unfortunately that’s part of the reason why he gets bullied so much is because Marty’s 17 and doc is like 50. Like i said earlier He’s gotten tougher, stronger. Unfortunately being nice, and kind leads to people taking advantage of you. So Marty’s..def grown.

ANyWaYS BACK TO doc :)) Marty couldn’t be more proud of him. He loves Clara and thinks the kids are wonderful.(Although Marty fucking hated Clara before, for obvious reasons lmaoo he would never admit that though)

HOWEVER Marty enjoys being like a big brother to both Verne and Jules. Verne loves learning how to skateboard with Marty..I mean after all you always gotta have a mature brother…and well Verne LMAO.

Doc and Marty try to spend time together now and then, but like i said with doc having a family doc would like to spend more time with them.

Marty understand completely and he is know where mad. He gets it, he wants to find his own way in life, find love, friends, explore find his 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 yk? Being through time, and different decades and shit..it’s rlly messed him up.

I mean he’s 𝘽𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 he is really, but he still needs time yk? He’s 17 so he really hates showing his emotion…which is why I think it’s so hard for him. The first time he cried in front of doc..was 𝙀𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡. He was devastated..after all the time travel shit and he just needed doc. He needed him to say it was okay.

“I love you Marty..okay? I will not let anything hurt you…never again”

It’s nice for Marty to have doc..and he would have no idea what he would do without him.

Clara is this mans MOTHER FIGURE istg Clara is such a beautiful women and she is so sweet to Marty. What’s better is that she 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 him..just because she never went through all…𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 Dosent mean she doesn’t know about it or care.

She’s there for him just like doc is. So besides doc, Clara is the only other person he feels comfortable crying around.. she loves him very much and try’s her best to make sure he’s calm and comfortable

Def is hard for him to look at his mom after..well yk.

He struggles he really does..he honestly hates talking about time travel because of so much trauma from it.

He Dosent want to go therapy because he has doc..and yes he’s 17 but when he’s having nights where he can’t sleep he’ll get doc to tuck him in and stay there till he does sleep.

Believe it or not Mary loves home cooked meals. Since his parents aren’t really well..suitable if you will for a family dinner it’s lovely to have him, doc, Clara, and the kids together for dinner.

Ong Clara can fucking 𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙠 hunny omfg her meals are so good. Marty Dosent remember the last time he had food that fucking good. It’s fresh, it’s warm, it’s heaven my dudes.

So I’m not exactly sure what.. “Meals” they had back in 1885..but since come traveling to 1985 Clara has learned different meals to make and it’s fucking delicious, some of Mary’s favorite meals include Lasagne, meatloaf, spaghetti.

Overall Marty Mcfly is great guy, he’s really sweet at heart, and is not afraid to fucking fuck people up if he has to. He loves doc and is something that he cherishes. Marty and Jennifer headcannons?

- jennifer is the reason marty’s style is what it is. he tried it out one day and she said she liked it (which is the first time she spoke to him), and he just kept that as his go to style

- she goes to every single one of his concerts, whether he’s playing at a bar for three people or he sold out an entire stadium, she’s there

- she loves painting. one day she paints him, and he loved it so much he framed it

- she makes little pocket sized paintings for him. she made one of the two of them linking arms and he keeps it in his wallet

- he taught her how to skateboard, and she turned out to be very nearly better than him (it depends on the day, but they’re both equally good at it)

- anytime he’s getting bullied or shoved around she does not hesitate to deck whoever is doing it. she gets a reputation as one of the scariest people in the school
