Dragon Age: Origins/BtVS fusion (I can’t help myself)
Warden is a new Slayer called to the Lothering Hellmouth. Alistair is from a local Hunter guild, given to them as a child and finally free to go to the local high school now that he has been chosen as an apprentice to the Watcher, Duncan. Leliana is the school’s choir nerd and Weird Homeschool Kid who ends up in the gang due to a weird shared prophetic dream that ALSO draws in Local Mysterious Goth, Morrigan. Zevran is a shady transfer student that they all think might be a werewolf??? But no his actual secret is that he’s a runaway from a supernatural assassin’s guild (yes, the Crows are the Order of Taraka). Oghren and Sten are jocks who join up after being saved by varying Monsters of the Week and Wynne is the school nurse. Shake just shows up in the library one day making snarky comments and nobody is quite sure where she came from or what she is (def not human...at least anymore) and it takes like eight episodes for them to realize that her appearances coincide with the Disappearances of the statue of Lothering’s founder.
Season One deals with the unrelenting hordes coming at Lothering from local ghost town Ostagar on account of a ritual gone wrong. It’s mostly a crash course in battle tactics and by the end they’re fire forged friends. Final boss is the remnants of the cultists showing up and trying the ritual again (with no immediately apparent results).
Season Two is focused on the local magic school, Wynne and Morrigan clashing before eventually falling into a mentorship and some run ins with the Hunter Guild that Alistair left. Culminates in the cleansing of the magic school after the corruption of the higher ups starts manifesting as Actual Rot all throughout town.
Season Three brings Morrigan’s mum home from her travels abroad and it becomes obvious that she’s Much Older than anyone realizes, the actual founder of Lothering, and has a finger in literally every pie. Season end is anticlimactic, lots of fighting through to her stronghold but she’s already faffed off with a Ta, Darling, I Suppose You May Have Your Friends for As Long As They Last...
Season four is the transition to college, which it turns out is run by a shady mage doing experiments on students and the like in the search for a cure for lycanthropy (ends a four season long running gag that it’s not lupus lycanthropy because it’s NEVER lycanthropy). Clashes with the Hunters Guild start ramping up as they pressure Alistair to return to the fold. Culminates in the death of the shady mage and his replacement by an enigmatic woman who may or may not be the personification of the local forest.
Season five takes them on a road trip to find Oghren’s long lost sister who it turns out has gotten into it with the magical mob and is being forced to make golems (spoiler alert: she’s not actually being forced). The shortest season, ends on a cliffhanger because when they get back to Lothering they discover that the Hunters Guild has paid for the Crows to take out everyone but Alistair and now the whole of the supernatural assassin community is gunning for the group.
Season six is where they really delve into the Hunters Guild politics and interactions with the Slayers Council. The hinky ritual stuff from season one, the corruption of the mage school, Morrigan’s scary mum, the shady werewolf experiments, and even the magic mob crap all turn out to be connected and secretly run behind the scenes by a canal of supernatural beings and their hunters in order to support the system. Warden + crew destroy the system and those in power, then scatter, promising to meet up again in three years.
