Samira keeps breathing in and out, trying to calm and cool herself down. It’s so hot in here — was it always so hot in here? — and she can feel sweat on her forehead, so she splashes more water on her face. She’s flushed and her heart is pounding, blood roaring in her ears. She has to go back soon; Parker has her own patients to take care of, and this patient with the mysterious illness is Samira’s to diagnose, to save. She looks in the mirror only to freeze. Her pupils are dilated and combined with all her other symptoms… Fuck. She stumbles out of the bathroom as quickly as she can, intent on getting herself back to the patient’s room. Everyone needs to know how contagious this illness is and how quickly it affects you. Everyone. But she only makes it a few steps out the door before collapsing, just like her patient. Strong arms catch her as she loses consciousness.
