The Juniors at my school went to UNCW today to tour the campus and, because I enjoyed it the last time I went, I tagged along. I walked around with M, K, and E. We stopped for lunch at The Hawks Nest, one of the cafeterias on campus, and M pointed to a door with a giant pride flag on it. We ate and went over there, to what was apparently the LGBTQIA+ office on campus. Me and E are straight, M is in the air, but K is hella gay. The fist thing they ask us when we walked in is what our preferred pronouns were. We talked a bit and looked around the room. On the wall was another giant pride flag and a tv in the corner was playing Steven Universe. A woman who greeted us at the door walked over to the table occupying the center of the room and stood beside a woman sitting down, who shifted her hand to the firsts waist. There were other minor things too but I had to step out to talk to a teacher. When we left the room to continue the tour K (again, hella gay) squealed loud enough that it quieted the lunchroom several notches. All in all it was awesome to see on campus representation for the community. I just wanted to share that experience, and am glad that the room simply existed.
