Hiiii, it's been a minute since I've posted a snippet, but I've been trying to back off on the pressure and expectations I set for myself with writing and, what do you know, turns out it's a whole lot easier to want to write when I'm nice to myself about it! I've made a ton of progress on can't stop you putting roots in my dreamland, so here's some from the end of Buck and Eddie's first date:

Closing the step or two of distance between them, Buck leans down. Eddie stretches toward him and for the first time, their lips meet.

It’s softer, sweeter than Eddie thought it would after all these years. He thought he would feel the weight of their history, all the near-death and the too-long looks, the ways they’ve wedged themselves together. Instead, he feels free. He feels the open road of their future, but mostly the novel sensation of Buck’s soft lips, the taste of him and the grate of his stubble.

Pulling their hips flush with the grip he has on Buck’s hips, Eddie parts his lips and Buck obliges, licking into his mouth and bringing a hand to cup Eddie’s face before pulling away. They hover near each other for long, heavy moments, lips nearly brushing again.

Finally, Buck clears his throat and takes a step back. “I’ll, um, I’ll see you at work.”
