new fic: the misters november
(VERY loosely) for the @bucktommyweek prompt: forced proximity
bucktommy; 3k; rated mature; complete tags: fix-it fic; queer themes; fluff
Summary:
Buck finally makes the firefighter calendar.
Excerpt:
Apparently the LAFD rented a whole studio, like a huge warehouse-style movie studio, for the production of the firefighter calendar. Over the years, he hadn't thought much of the production value put into the calendar, but clearly their little charity calendar required a lot more work than he thought. And a lot more men. Like. A lot more men. "Shit," he whispered.

“Still there?” Evan asked, voice quiet.
“Yeah,” Tommy sighed. “Tell me more about your seminars today.”
“You sure? I don’t want to keep you up. You sound tired.”
“It was a long shift,” Tommy admitted, “but I miss you. I want to hear how your day was.”
“I’ve only been gone for three days,” Evan said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
Under a burning sky
Well, Buck though, I wanted something different. Then he jumped out of the helicopter.
It had been a compromise.
He didn’t transfer out of the 118. After Chim’s speech he had pulled his request, admitting to himself that it hadn’t been made entirely for the right reasons. So no transfer, but instead he had volunteered for wild fire suppression during the summer. It wasn’t as permanent, but it got him out of LA for a few months, away from the empty kitchen at the station and the sad empty table no one used to have family dinners anymore. It also meant he had a bit more time to figure out where to live and was out of the way of Chris and Eddie moving back into the house.
He hadn’t thought much about it, when the wildfire coordinator had contacted him and pointed out that with his experience in rope rescue he would only need a few training hours to qualify for air evac. Buck had only thought that it would be useful, and probably more fun than digging trenches.
He had not considered who else would be involved in air evac operations, or that the IC of their current sight would group all Angelino fire fighters together to improve team efficiencies.
And that was how he had ended up in Tommy’s helicopter for the last six days.

Tommy and Buck meet and start dating while Tommy is still in the army. While he is on deployment they exchange letters, but because of DADT they can’t say too much in their exchanges. Buck has some fun with pretending he’s Tommy’s very female lover, Tommy gets more maudlin the longer his deployment goes on, and the pair manages to keep the spark alive until Tommy’s return home.
@bucktommyweek Day 5: Long Distance Relationship
Just remember that we lay under the same stars
BuckTommy | 1.6 K | Rated: G | Long Distance Relationship AU
written for @bucktommyweek (prompt: long distance relationship)
Summary:
Buck wakes up and immediately knows it's one of those days. He rolls on his back and feels a void in his chest, a void with a specific shape. A void that can only be filled by a pair of blue eyes, a deep voice and gentle arms around him. It's one of those days where the distance is something tangible, stretching and stretching and stretching so that he can feel every single mile between him and the love of his life. If someone in the past had told him he'd fall in love with a man who lived on the opposite coast, he'd laugh in their faces. And yet here he is, in a healthy and happy and fulfilling long distance relationship with a hot firefighter pilot who lives in Los Angeles.
