“Buwt whawt you forgewt me Daddy?” your daughter asked Bucky before he headed to the lab. He halted he was doing this for her. He wanted to make sure that he would be safe and that there would be no more winter solider outbreaks.

“Daddy will never forget his beautiful baby girl.” he leaned down and kissed her forehead before clinging onto his shirt. He got the message and picked her up. You followed shortly behind them. It hurt you and him but you both knew he needed this. He couldn’t bare thinking that one day he might have another slip up. He knew he was dangerous. You never said that or implied it. You weren’t scared of him or viewed him as a monster. But no matter what you did you knew this was his only option.You and him didn’t agree upon this right away. You had just had your daughter when he suggested it. 

You were furious. You and him just brought a precious child into this world and now he wants to go under? You didn’t talk to him for a few hours. You couldn’t believe him. He apologized and so did you. You explained to him that if he went under now who knows what he could miss. First words. First steps. Just a whole bunch of firsts. You and him both made a pact that if by her 2 birthday that if he still felt this way then you would consider it. It has been three days since her birthday and he has been waiting for this day. He doesn’t want to leave you and your daughter but he knows this is the only way to protect you both.

On her birthday he had an attack, you calmed him down but he knew that he needed to do this. At the end of the night you and him got in a heated discussion about him going under. You never wanted him to leave you and you knew that he couldn’t keep this charade going any longer. You both knew this was the only option but you just hated that this was the only option. 

“Daddy are you going to be awake for Christmas?” Becca clung to his shirt as he set her down on the ground. He let go but her gripped only tightened. You felt the tears forming.

“I don’t know baby. I am not the one who gets to decide if I get to wake up.” He said as he lifted her up and handed her to you. He could see the pain in her eyes and that only made him feel 10x worse. 

“Daddy, do we do something? I am storry. Can you please swtay. I love you Daddy. Why donwt you love me?” Becca said sobbing. He wanted to but he had to protect her. 

“I love you Becca but i have to protect you. I can’t protect you if I can’t protect myself my love.” He said kissing her forehead then leaning in to kiss you for the last time before he can get the hydra stuff out of his Brain. You held him and her in your arms for as long as you could. You would miss him like crazy and he knew that. You didn’t want to let go.

“Don’t forget me.” You said pressing a kiss to his cheek. While tears roll down your face.

“I won’t, Doll. Take care of Becca and Steve for me. Wait for me?” he said before pressing on last kiss to your lips.

“I am not going anywhere do you hear me. I love you so much James and I am going to miss you like crazy.”

“I love you more. I love you both more than i can explain. This is hard for me but I have to keep the ones i love the most safe.”He said as he stripped into what he needed to be in to go in. You waited and watched as the ice filled around him. You held your daughters hand until she slipped away and started banging on the glass.

“Wake up daddy. Downt leave me Daddy. Daddy.” she said banging her little fists on the glass and crying out. You quickly picked her up and headed to your room where everyone waited for you. Steve took Becca and everyone was hugging you and telling you that he will be out soon enough. 

The time seemed to pass you by. The first year was hell you would wake up in the middle of the night and visit him and tell him how much you missed him and how your day was and how Becca was doing. 

The second year was a little easier but you still missed him like crazy. Becca would sneak in and bring her toys and pretend that daddy was playing with her. It broke your heart. Everyday she would ask when is daddy going to wake up. You couldn’t answer that and it hurt you everyday because you too were wondering when he would come out.

“Hey, How are you doing today?”

“I miss him Steve so much” 

“I know we miss him to ”

 “No you don’t get it. He was my rock. I can’t breath or think or sleep. I can’t look at Becca without seeing him it kills me.” 

“You just have to relax and remember that he will come out soon. When it’s time.”

“What if he doesn’t come back to me. What if he doesn’t come back to us. How will I tell Becca. She always asks for her dad and I don’t know what to tell her.“ 

"We just need to be patient. That’s all we can do.”

“I can’t do this Steve it hurts so much. She is getting older and dhe looks just like him.” you said with tear filled eyes.

“How about this I will take Becca tomorrow and you can have the day to yourself.” 

“Thank you.” you said wiping you tears.

“No need to thank me. I promised Bucky i would take care of his best girls. I cant break that promise”

That night you were falling asleep when Becca ran into the bedroom.

“Mommy, Can i sleep in here?” 

“Of course Baby.” you said lifting the blanket for her to get under the covers.

“Mommy, I miss Daddy, I know I said that a lot mommy. It’s just i remember when Daddy would read me stories and tell me that i was his favorite. He would say that you knew and that you were never jealous because you knew he loved you too.” 

You began to cry and Becca noticed.

“Don’t cry Mommy. I’m sorry. I won’t talk about Daddy.” she said as she wiped your tears and hugged you with her tiny arms. 

“No Becca, Talk about Daddy. I miss him baby. and when you talk about him it just reminds me of how much he loves us. I can’t wait for the day he comes back to us my love. Let’s get some sleep uncle Steve is going to take you somewhere tomorrow.You kissed her forehead before shifting so you and her were both comfortable in the bed.

 When you woke up the next morning so happy. You kept your eyes closed for as long as possible.You had, had the best dream. You dreamt that one morning you woke up and Bucky was there and Becca was jumping on the bed and yelling "MOMMY MOMMY DADDY’S BACK.” But In the dream you just told her to keep it down and get ready for the day. 

 When you turned over the bed wasn’t empty. You jolted up to see your husband and little girl fast asleep. You rubbed your eyes a zillion times. You had to still be sleeping. There was no way he was here. You made your way to the bathroom and took a quick shower. You figured you were just hallucinating because you missed him so much.

 When you came out of the shower. You were right the bed was empty and you knew it was to good to be true. You put on one of James shirts on and a pair of his boxers and went back to sleep hoping the dream would continue. When you woke up again it was 12:30. 

Your daughter woke you up. You wondered why she was back so early. You got up. You were a bit scared because you knew something had happened or she would have been gone all day. “Mommy can you out this on please.” She said handing you a maxi dress.

 “Baby mommy is to tired to play dress up.” “Mommy please we just have to have one tea party and you can go back to sleep please mommy.” She have you the biggest puppy dog eyes. How could you say no to those big beautiful blue orbs.

 You quickly changed and headed to the kitchen to see the table set and food on the table.

 “Becca who is here? I know you didn’t do this all by yourself.”

 “It’s a secret mommy I can’t tell you” she said giggling before running to her chair.

 “Becca get over here. We don’t keep secrets baby. So are you going to tell me.” You said in the most tender voice trying not to get angry. 

 She just shook her head no. You stood up and you were about to sit in the chair next to her when you felt two hands over your eyes. Your first reaction was defense but when you felt the cool metal on your face you froze. You felt you legs go weak and the water works going wild. 

 “It can’t be. If this is a dream I never want to wake up.” You said sobbing as he removed his hands from your face. 

 “It’s not a dream, Doll. I’m finally back. I’m sorry it toke forever. I love you so much.” He said before taking you face in his hands and him kissing you so passionately.

 “Eww mommy, daddy stop it.” Your daughter said while she covered her eyes. 

“God how I missed you.” The day seemed to go so quick. It was now time for bed. You and Bucky both thought it would be a good idea to bring Beccas bed into your room so she can sleep with you to tonight. You couldn’t sleep you didn’t want to. You were afraid that this was a dream and if you closed your eyes and opened them again he would be gone.

 “Sweetheart, get some sleep we have a long day together tomorrow.” He said with the biggest smirk in the world. 

 “I just can’t. What if this a dream and i wake up tomorrow and your gone.” He pulled you in closer kissing your forehead.

 “I’m not going anywhere with out my two favorite girls. You guys are my everything. I love you both too much. Now get some sleep please.”

 “Bucky, my reality is finally better than my dreams.” You said before wrapping your arms around hi neck and kissing him.

 “Can I sleep with you too my bed is lonely. I want to lay with daddy and mommy.”

 “Of course you can princess. You can lay with daddy and mommy whenever you want.” He said pulling Becca into the middle so you were on one see and he was on the other. 

 “Just don’t forget to knock first.” He said winking at you. You just gave him the not now face because you knew exactly what he was talking about. 

 “Daddy will you tell me a story.” She said as she put he back towards you so she faced her father. “Anything for you.” He said as he leaned forward to kiss you both on the forehead. 

 “Once upon a time-” 

 And like that you fell asleep. The best sleep you had in the past two years. Your family was finally together and it was better than anything in the world.

It had been about 5 hours since you woke up. The first few hours everyone came by. There was lots of hugs and happy tears from the team. You hadn’t realized how much of an impact you had on them. Nat was the first to come by. She basically gave you a lecture on what you did to her and that you need to not do that again. 

“Listen okay. You scared the shit out of me. I thought i lost my best friend. I was so sad. I thought that you would never get to see your daughter grow up and that we would never get to fight again together. I couldn’t even remember the last conversation we had and that killed me. Most importantly, I didn’t even get to tell you how much cared and loved you.” she said trying to hide her tears.

“if i didn’t know any better. It would seem like you are confessing your love to my wife.” Bucky coughed out jokingly. He just got a death stare from Nat. You and her were like sisters. It may have seemed like she had a girl crush but she didn’t she just cared for you like family.  

“So still no name?” you heard a voice from the door way. 

“Well I was thinking Rebecca Elizabeth Barnes.” you said looking over to your husband who had a huge grin on his face. 

“I love it.” he said leaning in and kissing you passionately. You were happy the happiest you have been in months. You were released two days after you woke up. When you got home everyone was there and there was a banner that read ‘Welcome home baby Barnes.’

You walked up to everyone thanking them. You all sat around the living room reminiscing and everyone taking turns holding Becca. You and Bucky had both decided that you needed a break from the action. You could live without going out on missions every week. You both agreed that if need you both would come back. Only if it was an emergency. Tony bought you guys an apartment near the tower so you were never too far away and you and Bucky bought a cottage near Clint’s farm house to be close to Laura.  

It had been almost  4 years since Becca was born and you were pregnant again. This time you promised it would be different. 

You and Nat had planned a party for your announcement. You were excited. You couldn’t wait to tell your husband the news. It was finally time and everyone who you cared for showed up. You were pulled away to the side by Bucky.

“ I have something I need to tell you.” You were nervous. You thought what could be so serious to need to be pulled away. Becca walking into the kitchen. She watched as you fell to the floor sobbing. She walked over to you and tugged on your shirt. 

“Mommy mommy why you cwying. pwease don’t cwy mommy.” she said hugging you. She turned to Bucky and yelled. “What did you do to mommy.” He said nothing and walked away out of the kitchen. She followed and ran to Steve and Nat who were in a discussion. 

“Auntie Nat , Mommy is crying and i don’t know why. pwease help her auntie, pweease.” That was all that need to be said for Steve and Nat to run into the kitchen and see you laying on the floor. 

“hey what is wrong?” Nat said as her and Steve helped you up.

“Where the hell is Bucky.” The sound of his name only made you cry harder. They sat you at the table and giving you some water to calm down. 

“He is gone.” you whispered. they couldn’t hear you. 

‘what happened.” Nat said confused.

“HE IS GONE.” You shouted. You couldn’t believe him. 

“What the fuck do you mean he is gone.” Steve said standing up and reaching for his phone.

“He said Fury had a mission for him. He couldn’t say what it was or where he was going he just said it would be from 5-7 months. He knew for a week and held it from me. He never held secrets from me. He said that he had to for this and that it was an emergency. No one but fury and hill will be able to contact him. I just can’t believe he is going to miss it again.” your eyes red and puff from all of the tears. 

“Daddy. Why mommy crying.” Becca said from inside your bedroom as Bucky packed.

“I have to go away for a little while my love. I won’t be here and mommy is sad because she is going to miss me.”

“You’re leaving me daddy. Your leaving me and mommy and the baby.” she said as she sat on the floor crying.

“WHAT DID YOU SAY BECCA.” He said rushing to her side. holding her in his arms.

“Mommy said that this pawty was to tell you that mom has a baby coming. She wanted too suwpwise you. She said Daddy is going to be so excited. But you aren’t daddy you awe leaving us.” she said as she ran out of the room and back into the kitchen. He stood there he couldn’t believe it. She was pregnant again and he was going to miss it. How could he miss this. How could he do this to you. He missed the field but was this more important than your family? He sat on the bed and thought he thought long and hard until he walked out the door.

‘Beep’ 

“Does that mean--” Bucky asked the nurse in the room.

“Sir, sometimes the person has there last few breaths before they finally leave us.” the nurse says making her way to the door. “Also, It can last for minutes and sometimes hours. You can wait patiently but, there isn’t much we can do.” before she is finally at the doorway. 

“But there is still hope?” he said looking at you then down at your daughter.

“More of a miracle.I am so sorry about your loss.” she says finally exiting the room.

“I know a thing or too about miracles,So does she.” he says as she leaves the room. He sits by your side with your baby in his hands.

Flashback

Two months after the two of you met.

“Hey Buck, What’s up?” You said as you jogged on the treadmill. 

“Well, I was.. Kinda.. uhhmm.. well.. Iwaswonderingifyouwouldliketojoinmeandstevefordinnertonight? he said all in one breath. You stopped the treadmill putting your feet on the sides before getting off.

“Is it just you and him? Or does he have someone he is bringing?” You tried to ask as calmly as possible. You had the hugest crush on Bucky. The moment you saw him you knew ‘Fuck I am screwed’.

“Well he wanted to bring someone but i don’t really know if he is bring someone or not.” he says as he scratches the back of his neck. He hadn’t planed on you asking these question. He thought you would say a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’.You can’t tell if he is asking you out on a date or if he just doesn’t want to third wheel, but you don’t care. You know your answer already. Your brain already made up it’s mind. You don’t mind because your emotions are something you had under control. You couldn’t help but say yes.

“Sure i would love to. What time are we leaving and where are we going?” you asked opening your water bottle.

“We will pick you up at 7 and dress up, Doll.” he said grinning at you, but you couldn’t tell you were to concentrated on the water. As you pull away from the water bottle he pulls back his grin to a soft smile. 

“It is tonight right?” you asks chuckling because it was already 4:46.

“Yes, Tonight.” he said said softly.  

“Well I will see you in a few hours then.” as you walked toward the elevator doors to go to your room. You finally reached your room. When you got there the first thing you did was tell F.R.I.D.A.Y to tell Nat and Wanda they were needed in your room. Five minutes passed and they both barged in together.

“What happened, you never call us what is wrong.” they both looked at each other. They both said the exact same thing at the same time and they were a little confused by it.

“Well, I need your help. I don’t know how to do make-up or hair and i need it for tonight.” you said while you fiddled with your hands. 

“Some one has a hot date.” Wanda said making her way with Nat to the bed. They sat on each side of you. 

“Spill.” Nat said nudging you. 

“It isn’t really a date. I am going with Bucky and Steve to dinner. And i have to dress nice.”

“But you want it to be a date. Don’t you, (y/n).” Wanda joked with you.

“I doesn’t matter he doesn’t like me like that.” Not wanting to dig any deeper Nat got up and grabbed Wanda.

“Okay let me us get our stuff and we will meet you in a bit.” Nat said as they both walked out of your room.

meanwhile on the floor below you.

“Did you do it?” Steve said as Bucky walked in smiling.

“YES. Well kind of. I told her.. That.. uhh me and you were going to dinner and that she should come. I said you don’t know if you were going to bring someone. I was nervous.” he said looking at his feet.

“Really, Buck. You had one job. Now i have to ask Nat or Wanda. I will go get ready. Fancy right.”

“Yes, thank you Steve. You are the best. I am sorry. I just don’t know if she likes me or not. I really really like her. I am going to ---”

“Marry her i know you tell me every time you see her.” 

“I’ll see you in a bit and we will go at like 6:55 to get them okay.” As he walked out Steve’s room.

As the girls walk out Nat gets a message from Steve. 

Old man:

Hey Nat I need a Favor. Bucky is taking Y/N out but got nervous and said I was going to so I need a date for tonight. Please join?

Nat:

What do i get in return? He really likes her huh?

Old man:

Yes he really does. And i will let you play match maker.Fair deal?

Nat: 

He needs to tell her. She really likes him and she thinks he doesn’t even notice her. 

And match maker for you? or them? How about both?

Old man: 

She likes him? He think the same thing. 

Fine play match maker for both of us I don’t care. So does that mean you are joining us?

Nat: 

It beats staying home and listen to Tony talk all night long. See you soon. 

Old man: 

Dress up!

It was now 6:45 and you and Nat were both ready. Nat had on a pretty black dress that wasn’t to tight or loose. it fit her well. You had your hair curled and makeup done nicely. You didn’t get to see fully because Wanda and Nat knew if you did. You would insist it was too much and you looked ugly. Not the work just you. The dress you wore was black lace and short nothing to fancy because you don’t believe in all that. You were a casual girl, but when you saw Nat you had to get some what dolled up. You put on your best dress. There was a knock on the door. Nat answered it and you made your way to the bathroom inside your room. You wanted a few moments before you went out to dinner. Still wondering if it was a date or not.When you walked back out into your room Wanda was on your bed and Nat had just walked in.

“Red dress.” Nat said to Wanda. She got up so quickly and walked over to the door before peeking out she turned to Nat.

“Red dress really?” as she peeked out she turned to Nat again “Oh definitely Red dress.” she said walking out of your room.

You stood at the bathroom door confused. What the hell did red dress mean. Did they really mean red dress. Was it a code word for something only they knew. Was it because they need a get away plan. What the hell did it mean.

Before you could ask Wanda walked in with a bag in hand. She unzipped it and it was a beautiful red glitter dress,

“Guys?” before you could protest they stripped you. ‘”Don’t you guys think that, that dress is too much?” no answer as they put the dress on for you. You looked stunning. The dress showed off your best features. They turned you to the mirror and you were stunned. You wouldn’t have chose to wear this if it was the last piece of clothing on earth. But god did you look stunning. You stared into the mirror. You wondered if it is was really you. You felt more confident than you have ever been. You were excited. You were pulled from your thoughts when Nat grabbed your hand and lead you out of you bedroom door. Steve and Bucky were standing in the middle of the room. Bucky’s back faced you. Steve was caught off. His jaw literally dropped. He had never seen you in anything other than your uniform or sweats and a baggy shirt. His expression caught Bucky off guard. He slowly turned around and finally saw you.

“Wow.” he said to himself. He nudged Steve who was still amazed.”Can you stop checking out my future wife.” Bucky said to him in whisper.

Nat coughed. “So, Where to?” 

“uh right. Well downstairs we are taking one of Tony’s cars.” So after you.” Bucky said walking to the door and opening it. You walked down the hall and to the elevator. When it opened Clint and Sam walked out. They stopped in there tracks when they saw you.

“Wow. (y/n) you look... Wow. “ Sam said making you blush slightly but not too much for anyone to notice. 

“Thanks.” you said as you made your way into the elevator. They started walking but both looked back one last time to check you out. This made Bucky furious. He knew you weren’t his and he shouldn’t be this jealous but god he was. 

“Keep staring at her like that and you both will need to sleep with your eyes open.” Bucky whispered to them before you turned around and pressed the button to get to the garage.They didn’t say anything. Bucky hopped in before the door closed. The ride down was quiet but it wasn’t and awkward. Steve and Bucky opened the doors for you and Nat like the gentlemen they are. They closed them and befroe opening there doors and getting in. bucky spoke. 

“Good god. Is she trying to kill me. She always looks beautiful but god does she look.”

“Gorgeous.” Steve finished 

“Watch your self, Punk”

“Jerk. “ 

You guys reach the restaurant. You sat down and ordered. The night was going well until some ass-hat recognized Bucky. 

“Get out of here before you hurt someone.” The man yelled. Bucky being the gentlemen he is got up, paid for the bill and was waiting for you guys by the door. Steve and Nat were already up and headed to the door.

“We are going to get the car.” Steve said to Bucky before he and Nat walked out. You got up and before getting to the door the man followed. You were about to exit with Bucky when the man grabbed your arm. 

“Hey Princess. You deserve better than that Monster.” Before thinking you turned and punched him square in the nose. Breaking it and leaving your hand bruised. 

“He is more of a man than you ever will be. You will never be half the man he is.” you said before walking out of the door. You were furious. You hated it when people called him a monster. You understood that it wasn’t his fault. You knew he was a great person. A person who didn’t deserve the things that happened to him. 

“Hey how is your hand?” he asked pulling you out of your thoughts.

“It’s okay. It’s a little bruised nothing i am not used to.” you replied.

You walked and before getting to the car Bucky stopped you.

“Thanks.” 

“For what?”

“For defending me. Not many people do it.” You knew he was talking about what happened with Steve and Tony a few months before you joined. 

“Well, I had to because i couldn’t let you do it. It would only show that you’re a monster.” Fuck! you thought you couldn’t pick better words. “I don’t think you are a monster. I am saying everyone would have thought.” You said as soon as you realized you fucked up. 

“I know , Doll.” he said smiling at you. God why did he have to call you that. You loved how it sounded coming from him. You blushed but this time it was more noticeable before he could say anything else the car pulled up and Nat sat in front with Steve. 

“What took you guys so long?” Nat asked as you got into the car Bucky following. 

“The ass-hat called me a monster. And (Y/n) wasn’t having it.” He said as he grabbed your hand and  kissed it.

You felt butterflies fluttering in your stomach. You smiled to him. He let go but only to intertwine his hand with yours. Holding it softly making sure he wasn’t hurting your bruised knuckles. You couldn’t stop smiling. You couldn’t believe that someone could do this to you. You felt like a teenager again. You had a crush and this one was like nothing you have ever felt before. You knew that this man could be the love of your life. 

The next few months past,you and Bucky were inseparable. You and him did everything together. well almost everything together. You guys worked well together. So every mission you were on so was he and vice versa. You guys were best friends. You loved him. You loved him in both romantic and just love for someone who meant something to you. You never acted on your feelings because he never should you how he felt. You were fine with it but eventually you started getting angry because you liked him so much. 

Every night before bed you would dance to Can’t stop falling in love with you. You liked the Elvis version but when you listen to Haley Reinhart do a cover you fell in love. one night you were in your pjs. You had on one of Bucky’s shirts which you stole and shorts on. You put the song on and you were singing your lungs out. Everyone was suppose to be out  for drinks. You didn’t sing bad. Actually you sang really good. But no one ever knew because you thought you sucked. You were pulled from your thoughts when you felt a presence. You quickly turned but no one was there. You stayed quiet before you started singing again. Little did you know that Bucky had watched you sing that whole song. He knew right there he couldn’t help falling in love with you.It didn’t help you singing that song and wearing his shirt. He knew he had only known you for about a year but god did he get flustered whenever you were around. He had asked Steve a million times how he should ask you out but every idea he had he knew it wasn’t good enough. But when he saw you that night singing that song. He knew exactly how he wanted to ask you. He waited a few weeks before he got the courage to ask you.It wasn’t until you went on a date with some guy that pushed him over the edge.It made him jealous. He knew that if he didn’t ask you soon he might miss his chance.

One day after a mission all of you guys were sitting around enjoying a drink. You were all talking about how your mission went so smoothly. Everyone was talking until they stopped. You were confused. You were wondering why they all stopped talking. Before you could say anything they all scattered. The lights dimmed and the song started playing. You were confused. You got up and turned around to see. A handsome Bucky Barnes. He had a dozen roses in hand. he made his way towards you. You pinched yourself to make sure you weren’t dreaming. 

When he finally reached you. Your breathe was ragged. You heart was beating so fast and hard you thought it was going to pop out of your chest. You were so nervous and excited. You couldn’t believe it. It was better than anything you could have ever dreamed of. 

“It was you that night wasn’t it.” refuring to the night you were singing the song in your room.

“(Y/N) I don’t know about you, but from the day I first saw you I started to fall in love with you. I never told you sooner because i was afraid that you didn’t feel the same way. Well i still don’t but that’s okay.Every time i see you my mood goes from whatever it is to happy. You make me want to be a better man. You are one of the only people to help me with my nightmares and i thank you so much . I knew that you were something special from the first time we spoke. I hope you feel the same way.”  You couldn’t say anything you were shocked. You figured he didn’t like you like that. It was weird because Bucky never expressed his feelings. “Say something.” You couldn’t think if anything so you leaned forward and put your arms around his neck pulling him towards you. Your lips finally met and when they did. Wow. It didn’t feel like fireworks. It felt better. It felt like those were the only lips you want and will ever need. You pulled away. Before you could say anything the song ended and the lights went back up. Everyone walked in. 

“FINALLY” They all shouted at you. Of course Nat and Steve personally congratulated you both. 

“You guys were all in on it? Even you tony?” you asked.

“Yes, I was the one who made grandpa over here do it tonight. I knew he liked you. So, told him on the way back today that i thought you were cute and was going to ask you out.” Tony said smuggly. 

“Well thanks. I can go cancel my fake date now.” you said winking at Bucky.

The next two months were great. Until. You and Bucky had gone on a mission. You did your thing while the boys did thiers. When you were finished you made your way back to them. They were in a huge fight with guards. You ran over to them and helped. When you guys finished Bucky noticed a sniper. He jumped in front of you causing him to get shot. You reached for your gun and shot him. Bucky fell and you and Steve carried him back to the jet. When you got there Steve ran and started the jet. You held Bucky in your arms using your arms to apply as much pressure you could so he wouldn’t bled out. 

“Look at me. You can’t leave me you understand.” 

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“You keep your damn eyes open do you understand me, JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES.”

“I am trying my best.” 

“Do better, do you understand me. Fight the urge please. I can’t lose you MY LOVE. I love you and if you die i won’t be able to move forward so please hang in there we are almost there.” you said before placing a kiss on him lips. 

“I won’t leave you alone ever.” he said before closing his eyes for awhile before opening them again. “I love you, too and i have a reason to keep fighting.” he said before closing his eyes once again. When you got there. You ran him inside. You don’t know who you git him in there without hurting yourself but you did. You took him to Banner and he fixed him all up. He was lying in bed sleeping when Tony and Bruce walked in. 

“How the hell did you manage to carry him in here and not hurt yourself?” tony asked wondering if you too had a super serum. 

“I don’t know? As soon as we landed I guess i had an adrenaline rush. I couldn’t wait for Steve to get unbuckled I had to get him in here as soon as possible and i did.” you said shrugging.

He stayed asleep for a few days before he woke up with your head laying on the side of his bed. He didn’t wake you instead he took this moment to soak in how much he cared for you and you for him. 

“Hey you are awake.” you said pulling him from his daze. 

“I told you I had someone to fight for.”

Present day

‘Beep’           ‘Beep’          ‘Beep’

Bucky sat there holding your daughter. He didn’t stare at anything but her and occasionally you. 

“You look just like your mommy. you know that. You are so beautiful. You are the most beautiful girl in the world. yes you are. I am going to protect you from everything. Especially boys. No boy is going to be good enough for my Princess. I am not going to lie, Darling i’m scared we are going to have to watch out for her and boys. She has your beauty and all the boys are going to fall for her.” He said looking at her before turning to you. 

You were sitting up and before you could say anything Bucky yelled out.

‘NURSE!!!!!!!!!!”

“Bucky.” you said your voice raspy room dehydration “water” he reached for it and helped you drink.

“NURSE!!!!!!!!! “ He yelled out again and pressing the button for about the millionth time. 

“How are you even al-”

“ALIVE.” you chuckled. “Let’s just say I had some people to fight for.” You said right as the nurse walked in.

 Flashback.

I can’t believe it. Today is the day. I am finally becoming Mrs. Barnes. You said to yourself as the girls, Nat and Wanda dragged you to the hairstylist and makeup place.You were going for a simple look nothing too dramatic and to you dramatic was a nice hair do and more than just mascara. But of course that is not what they told the lady. You didn’t look bad you were just not use to so much make-up and your hair was in a pretty crown up do with some curled pieces out. It wasn’t much but for someone who goes on missions 24/7 and wears sweats and a jumbo shirt. It was a lot. You felt weird but also beautiful. You were happy but also sad because your mom wasn’t there to see you. You missed her and your dad. You knew they would be proud of you if they got to meet Bucky. You were quickly pulled from your thoughts when the girls saw tears forming. 

“What is wrong? I it the make-up.” Wanda asked concerned.

“No it’s just.. my mom and dad.. they would have loved today.” you said trying to hold back tears. You never talked about your family.They looked so worried. No one knew about what happened to them. The only person who knew about what happen was Bucky. You to had barely started dating and you told him in your sleep. The next morning he made you breakfast in bed and you just talked. You had told him that you were 15 when they passed and that is when you joined S.H.I.E.L.D. You lied about your age when you joined because you had to be 18 to join. You told him you joined because you felt helpless on that night. You wanted to help the world become better and help people like you. You felt relieved and nervous but when he smiled and told you everything would be okay. You knew right then and there he was the love of your life.

“(Y/N) Do you want to talk about it?” Nat asked.

You shook your head no. “We better get going before we are late and Bucky thinks I got cold feet.” you said before you thanked the lady and walked out. The drive to the tower was short. The girls distracted you with jokes about running from the alter. You didn’t take it personal because they both knew you would never do that. They knew you loved Bucky and he loved you. When you got to the room someone was in there. You could’t believe who it was. Your sister was there. You started to cry when she walked over and hugged you. You two were close but when everything happened with Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D you lost all contact with her. It’s been almost 6 years. You couldn’t believe she was really here. 

“HOW?” you asked.

“Well, about two weeks ago someone came by. He gave me two cards one said your name and the other said mine. He said open the card with mine when he left and then said give this one too you.” she said handing you the card. “At first i was confused because i hadn’t seen you or talked to you for so long. But once i opened it i knew what he meant.” she smiled.

You opened the card it read. ‘MY BEAUTIFUL (Y/N), I know you are surprised and probably crying. IF you are i didn’t mean for you to cry. I just knew how much your family means to you. You mean the world to me so I wanted to meet your family (my soon to be family). You lost your parents but I was hoping to have at least one of your siblings here. Hope you are happy my love, Love you always Doll. See you soon. Your Bucky.” 

You wanted to cry more but you couldn’t walk down the aisle like a puffer fish. You set the note down and asked the Girls to help you into your dress. You looked beautiful. You looked like a princess.

“This reminds me of when we were little and you would wear moms dresses and say you were a princess. She would be so proud of you (Y/N).” she said putting on your veil.

“You ready.” Wanda asked you?

“Always.” you smiled.

It was time you were standing outside of the big doors waiting for your music to play. The que to walk down the aisle. You felt an arm on your shoulder. 

“Hey (y/n).” 

“Oh wow. you look just like dad.” you say to your brother Chris. 

“I am a little hurt that Angie got an invite but i didn’t.” he said.

“I didn’t-” you were shushed but the que.

“ I know sis i’m just messing with you. Let’s go before you are late.” As he opened the doors to see Bucky at the end of the aisle. He looked so handsome. You got so distracted that you almost fell. Little giggles filled the room as you finally reached the end and your brother gave you off to Bucky. 

“You alright there,Doll.” he said with his smirk.

“Can you blame me, I can’t stop falling for you.” you winked and with that they started. It felt so long before they finally said you may kiss your bride.

The reception was beautiful. Everyone you loved was there. Your husband finally got to meet your family. Well all the family who was invited. 

“So, how did you make my lovely little sister fall for you?” Chris asked. 

“Honestly, I don’t know. All i knew was the first day i saw her i knew she was going to be the love of my life.” Bucky said while intertwining his hands in yours. 

“He was the first and only person i talk to about mom and dad.” you said.

The face on your brothers face was priceless. He knew that was a big deal because you would rarely talked about your parents. “You are one lucky guy. She never talks about that. She really trusts you and loves you. Take care of  her,” your brother said as he patted Bucky’s left arm. He tensed up, gripping your hand tighter. Who knew that the next six years could possibly be your last.

Present day

“Mr. Barnes.” the doctor called to Bucky. He assumed he blanked out. “Mr. Barnes your wife is in critical condition. We don’t know if or when she will get better.” 

Everyone was silent. They didn’t know what to say or what to do. 

“Mr. Barnes, we need to ask you a few questions. We need to know if she doen’t make it, if she is an organ donor? Also,--” He was cut off by Steve asking to leave you guys for awhile. He has never seen Bucky like this. He was worried. He didn’t know what to do. Bucky just stood in the middle of the waiting room for about 2 hours until the doctor came out again. 

“Mr. Barnes. She is still unconscious and still in critical condition. She is in the the ICU. She has her own room so if you would like you all may go and see her.” no one moved. “I know this is hard but we need a name for the baby. She only has a place card that says (Y/N) Barnes.” he finished. 

Bucky totally forgot about the baby. which only made him feel 10x worse. He didn’t want to name her without you. He couldn’t. “Just leave it like that until my wife comes back to me.” he whispered. 

“That may not happe---” the doctor was cut off by Bucky.

“You don’t think i know that. Have some hope some optimism.” he spat. trying to get up and do something to the doctor but Steve held him back.

They all went to see you. Bucky couldn’t so Steve stayed back. He couldn’t see you not that he didn’t want to he just couldn’t see you like this. 

“Hey, you have to see one of your girls. It may not have to be (y/n) but at least go see your beautiful baby girl.” Steve was trying to be calm. He was angry that this was happening to his bestfriend. Bucky slowly got up and him and Steve headed to the nursery. When they got there he looked up and started crying. She looked just like you. He couldn’t stand it he walked away once he saw her heading straight for your room.

There you were laying unconscious. Everyone sitting around you. He walked in and laid next to you not caring about anything anyone said. He wanted to hold you, feel your heart beat. He laid there until rolls and rolls of tears flowed down his face. He closed his eyes in hopes of just another nightmare. of course not, when he opened his eyes there you were still laying there in the hospital bed. This time the only people in the room was Steve and Nat. 

“Hey, they said that they are going to bring the baby in here. They said it is suppose to help her get better. They said that we should talk to her like we would normally do. I know it’s going to be hard but if we have any chance of her coming back to us we have to try.” Nat said with a forced smile.

“I don’t know how. I didn’t even tell her i loved her before i left.” Bucky said with tear filled eyes.

“Neither did we.” Her brother and sister walked in. 

“Hey what the hell are you guys doing here?” 

“Tony called and told us everything. We tried to call her after that night but she never answered our calls.” 

“Well i wouldn’t answer either when you tried to rip them apart. You both knew how much she loved Him yet you both insisted on telling her anyways. What did you expect. That she would just leave him and forgive you guys for what you told her?” Steve spat.

They both looked down and didn’t say anything. They looked to Bucky but he was staring at you. He had hurt you so much. He would never forgive himself for what he did, he never knew why you forgave him and loved him.

“We are sorry Bucky.” they both said.

“”For which part? Telling her that your parents found out that they were helping Hydra and I was sent to kill them? Or for tearing away the last piece of Blood family she had? It was good she finally had you guys back and then not even 6 months later you wanted to ruin her. Of course she still loves you guys but how could you. You guys broke her. She couldn’t function, you guys hurt her.” he said in a stern voice.

“Are you forgetting what you did?Don’t place all your baggage on us.” your sister spat.

“GOD STOP FUCKING FIGHTING ALREADY. (Y/N) DOESN’T NEED TO HEAR SHIT THIS RIGHT NOW. IF ALL YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO DO AND ARGUE GET THE HELL OUT. I CAN’T SIT THROUGH THIS SHIT.” Nat finally popped. 

“Nat language.” Steve said. “We all just need to calm down.” He said as he saw the nurse roll in your beautiful baby girl. 

“So this is your baby. Still no name but that’s okay.” the nurse says as she picks the baby up and carries her over to Bucky who was still laying on the bed. Bucky’s face grew worried, he has never held a baby before. Steve sees this and gets up to grab her. She doesn’t fuse. she just lays there in his arms.

“Hello Beautiful, It’s your uncle Steve who loves you.” 

“Not as much as her aunty Nat.” Nat said sticking her tongue out to the baby which makes her smile. Your brother and sister just sit down waiting to hold the baby. Bucky, still hasn’t held her. She looks to much like you and it hurts him. He knows how happy you would be right now.

It’s been a week since the baby has been born. you get better but every night something happens and brings you back to the same position you were in before. The doctor asked Bucky how much longer he would like to wait. He didn’t want to here it. He wanted to wait for ever. You had given Tony a note a long time ago when you first met him. It was part of your contract with S.H.I.E.L.D. If you were in critical condition for longer than a week give you one ore week and if nothing then pull the plug. When Tony told Bucky and your siblings they were both furious. They new you. You are a survivor. You bet things. They said you needed more time but the doctor told them it is against hospital policy. 

“She will have one week. So, I suggest you all make the most of it. Say your goodbyes. See you all in one week.”

The days went by quickly. It was day five, two more days.You only had two more days.  Everyone still comforted you as if you were not on your death bed. They talked to you about your daughter and how she looks like you and how she has Bucky’s eyes.  It was now day six. Natasha still had hope but you and her both knew that she wouldn’t be able to handle if you don’t wake up tomorrow so she decided to say her ‘goodbye’.

“You and I both know I am not good at this.I want you to know that if you feel that you need to leave us. I will understand. If you are in pain and can’t do it. Go ahead and let go.” tears already forming. “I will promise you I will watch after Bucky and the baby. I will tell her everyday that her mother loved her and i will tell her all the wonderful things you did. I will teach her how to defend herself and others. I will make sure she will never forget you. When she cries and asks for you I will tell her that you are always with her no matter what. I will tell her how you where never hateful or envious. I will tell her that you were happy. I will keep her out of trouble and i will tell her how you and her father met and how much you loved him and her. i will never forget you (y/n). Thanks for being the best sister i could have asked for.” rolling down as she kissed your forehead and walked out with Clint and Sam. 

Steve was still there and so were your brother and sister. Bucky sat next to you, your hands in his.

The night fell and it was now morning. A few more hours and it would all be over. Your sister and brother came in to say there goodbye. 

“Hey (y/N) its Chris and Angie. We are sorry for hurting you and we know you may be mad but we love you. we love you and we are so sorry for everything. We miss you and we hope you pull through. You where always the strongest of us three. Please if you can hear us, we hope you know how sorry we are.” they said and walked out of the room. IT was only Steve and Bucky left.

“So, You have always been a pain in my ass. yes i know. Watch your language Cap. I hope you know that i was thank for the many years of our friendship. Also, for bringing me back my good friend Buck. He loves you man. He loves you more than me and it kinda hurts. I know you are trying. I know this can’t be easy so i just have one request. Please, know that we are thankful for what yo have done for all of us. “ he said as he kissed your forehead before whispering.”Don’t worry about baby Barnes she will be in good hands.”

It was finally just you too alone . The baby was in the room as well but she was sleeping in the crib. 

“My love, Please don’t go.” tears rolling off of his cheeks. “Our life together has just started. You can’t leave. Not now. We have a beautiful baby girl. I don’t think i can do it without you.” he whispered. They nurse walked in to let him know it was time. As the nurse began to remove all of the necessities to keep you alive he asked to have just a few more minutes she allowed him. 

“We can leave. We can settle down and i will build us a house and you can play with the kids. We can have a farm or whatever you want, Doll. Just please don’t go. You have to stay and take care of our baby with my. If you are gone how am i suppose to look at her without thinking of you. How am i suppose to move on. I haven’t held her yet because i am too afraid that she is going to be a mini you. I can’t live with just a mini you. I need the big one. The one who holds my monsterous left arm in public. The one who tells me to shut up when i am talking during the movie. The one who makes me warm her feet when they are freezing cold. the one who uses bubbles to imitate my scruff. The one who is going to be a great mother. The one who no matter what time or mood I am in can calm me. The one who makes me into a better man. I can’t live without you. and i don’t want to so please , DOLL if you can hear me please. please wake up.” he finished as the nurse says “Mr. Barnes, i have to continue.” 

“I understand.” he said getting up from his seat and kissing you on your lips for the last time. Then made his way over to your daughter. “Your mommy loves you more than daddy. She loves you so much more that she will give up her life for you.” He says as he picks up his daughter for the first time. The monitor flat lines. As he holds her that baby wraps her hand around his finger. He looks to the flat lined monitor until.

‘BEEP’ the monitor goes off.

Bucky POV

“I just can’t believe she lied to me. Steve. She lied to ME. We have been married for 6 years and she lied to me. What do i do?” 

“Bucky, You have to understand. She was scared. She lost three babies before this one. I know you are hurt but think about how hurt she would have been if she would have lost this one too.” Steve sighed. “Before you say i am taking sides I am not. You don’t know what physical and mental pain she went through losing those three babies. I am not saying you didn’t go through it too, i am saying it must have been a lot harder for her. She was carrying the baby. She was the one who had the baby. Her one job was to protect it. She felt keeping this pregnancy away from us would help. I am not angry. I was at first but now i understand why she did it. She was being selfless.”

“Selfless Steve. That is what you call selfless. Wow you and i have to different definitions of selfless.”

“You don’t think so. Here is why i say she is selfless. She knew you would be angry but she knew you guys would get through this.”

“STE—” 

“I am not finished. She kept this from you. Do think that was easy from you. Hell no. I see the way she looks at you Buck. She loves you so much so this couldn’t have been easy. I am pretty sure she wanted to tell you. She was scared. It was not just about her anymore. It’s about the precious child she is carrying. Be happy you’re going to be a Dad Buck.” Steve finished by patting his shoulder. 

“So it’s true.” Sam asked walking into the living room. Everyone following behind him.

“So where is she?” Nat asked.

“She is in our room. I left here in there. I was angry and i walked out. It has been about an hour or so.” Bucky said softly. He was disappointed in his actions.

‘You what? Have you checked on her? Was she crying? Why would you leave she is fragile Bucky. WHAT THE FUCK.” Nat said punching the shit out of Bucky’s right arm.  He just put his face in his hands. What was he doing?

“You should go and check on her.” Nat whispered to him.He heard everyone talking about you to around him until. His face shot up when the sound of footsteps came clear. Everyone turned and looked up to see (y/n) standing there. Blood coming down her legs. They knew what that meant. that was never a good sign. Before anyone said anything. (Y/N). spoke to tell bucky she was sorry. She fell slowly. Or at least that is what it felt like to Bucky. The whole world had slowed down. He didn’t know what to do. Everyone was moving. This couldn’t be happening. He finally got up and held her in his arms. He followed Bruce and Tony to the car. He was glad that they were close to a hospital. He was inside the back of the car as they drove fast to the hospital. 

“I am sorry, Doll. I am so sorry. I love you  and I can’t lose you. I can’t lose either of you.” He said with tear filled eyes as be placed a hand on her stomach. “Please don’t leave me. (y/N) I can’t live without you.” he said while moving your hair out of your face. 

“ARE WE ALMOST FUCKING THERE” he spat at Tony who was driving as fast and as safe as he could. 

“We are here.” Bruce and Tony said in unison. He hopped out of the car and into the emergency room. They helped her right away.

Readers POV

You were in and out of consciousness. You heard bits and pieces of what Bucky had said. You remember his warm leaving you as they placed you on a hospital gurney and rush you to the ER. They had took you into surgery. They stopped the bleeding for now. And that was all you remember before you woke up in the hospital bed. You were scared you were hooked up to machines. You thought the worst. You couldn’t breath, you thought to yourself god please please not again. Everyone was in the room. They heard the monitor going of and they all scattered to get you help. Bucky stayed . He wasn’t to close but he wasn’t to far. He just sat there staring down. Three nurses finally came in and helped you. You calmed down but you were still crying.Soon a doctor a too familiar doctor came in and you couldn’t take it. You were crying and screaming. Please god please no. 

“Mrs. Barnes. I need you to calm down. This is unhealthy for you and your baby.” You immediately stopped. You were still crying but you, you had calmed a lot from what you were before. 

“We helped the bleed. You are okay and so is the Baby. You tore which caused the bleeding we are going to keep you until you are at the end of your full term. We think that the next Three weeks will be hard but WE all feel it would be better if you stayed here in case anything happens.” You nodded in agreement and he left the room.

You all sat there silently. Everyone was afraid to say something. Afraid move.

“So, I want to apologize to everyone. I shouldn’t have kept it to myself and I’m sorry for scaring you all.”

“(Y/N). It is okay. We understand why you did it. We aren’t angry. We just want to make sure you and the baby are okay.” Steve said.

“I am glad you are all here. I don’t want to sound rude because you all stayed here but can a have a few with Bucky please. You guys all look like death. GO eat, sleep or something. You guys don’t have to leave the hospital just the room for a few. 

Everyone got up and walked out. Steve and Nat waited out side of your room. Just in case you to argued and he left again you wouldn’t be alone.

“Buck.” you whispered as you patted the empty spot on the bed.

He moved hesitantly. He didn’t want to hurt you. He didn’t know if he should even sit because you were doing good and then he came back and not even a few hours you were in the hospital. He sat quietly not staring at you just forward. 

“Will you look at me?” he didn’t budge. “Please babe,look at me.”  still nothing.

“Look I am sorry. If you want to leave. You can I will not hold it against you. If you don’t want to talk to me that is fine too. I will get through this if you don’t want to go through it with me. Before you make up your mind i need you to know something.” You said before taking a deep breath.”I love you JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES. i love you so much. I will never stop. I know you are angry and hurt. I lied to you. I am sorry. I just wanted to have this baby and us be happy because we finally would have a family. I wanted you to be happy. I hate it when you are sad or angry. It hurts me so much. Everyday i would think about the day you would find out. I would be do hurt because of what i did. But then i thought he will be angry but he will also be happy. He will know that I sacrificed my own happiness for the life of our child. H e will be proud of me for being strong. But none of that happened you walked away and that hurt like hell. I understand if you want to leave. I do. So the choice is yours.” you said with tears flowing down your eyes.

He turned to you and with out any words be placed his lips onto yours. He had been wanting to do that for two months. He missed you, he missed your face, your body, your scent, he missed everything. Yes he was mad but he knew why you did it. He had realized it when he was holding you in his arms. He slowly pulled away.

“I am sorry for acting like an ass, Doll. I was angry. I was hurt. I know that you did it  for our little bean in there. I am sorry for making you cry. I will make it up to you everyday for the rest of our lives. The only reason you will be crying is from my bad jokes.I love you. I love you much it scares me. It scares me that no matter what could happen to us that i would forgive you. Not that you would do something unforgivable. I know this seems bad but now that i think about it i feel stupid for being mad. You saved our child. And for that i can not thank you enough. I love you (Y/n) i love you and i know that our child is going to love you too. I would never leave you because leaving you means leaving half of me and i just can’t live without you. No matter how much of a pain you can be. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.” He said before laying next to you on the hospital bed.

“Do you want to feel something amazing.” you asked and took bucky’s hand. You tapped your stomach and the placed his hand over where you tapped. His face was priceless. He was so fucking happy and you loved seeing him genuinely happy. He placed a kiss on your stomach before looking up at you through his eyelashes. 

“Hello my beautiful child. Daddy loves you. You know that. Daddy is going to spoil you and take you out were ever and even if mommy gets mad i will take all the blame. Because i love when your mommy’s mad. She has the most beautiful angry face. She loves you too but don’t tell her that i love you more than she does.” he said giggling.

“Hey.” you said before slapping is shoulder. “don’t say that to the baby.” you tried your best angry face but busters into laughter. Bucky moved from your stomach to you face. He held your face in his palms and then kissed you. He rubbed your belly and felt a kick. 

“The baby just kicked me. Did you see that.” he said surprised.

“I didn’t see it but i felt it. The baby is strong, i wonder were they got that from.’ you said before turning to let Bucky cuddle with you.

It’s been a week since you and Bucky made up. Everyone was happy because you were the ultimate duo. Everything seemed normal other then the fact you were still in the hospital.Everyone came and visited everyday. You were happy, Bucky hasn’t left your side for one minute. He helped you do everything literally.It was good until one night you woke up screaming. You felt fluid run down your leg. You thought no not blood please not blood. It wasn’t it was just clear. You woke Bucky and called in a Nurse. She told you that your water broke. This was normal. She paged the doctor and took you upstairs to the labor rooms. Bucky followed behind. He called everyone to let them know it was time. Everyone was in the waiting room. They only allowed two people. Of course Bucky and Nat. You were barely 5 centimeters. It wasn’t that painful. You were used to pain due to the fact that you were an Avenger. 

“How are you feeling beautiful?” 

“I’m okay bucky. It doesn’t hurt it just feels uncomfortable.” you say moving around to find a comfortable position. It was about an hour before you felt sharp pain. You were screaming. You wanted to have natural birth. You were now 8 centimeters dilated. You only needed two more centimeters. 

“God damn you child. Come out already. I know you are warm in there but damn are you hurting mommy.” You said pointing to your belly. It felt like they understood you because not even 20 mins later you were fully dilates. They rushed you into a room and you started. You felt like yo were pushing forever. Nat was recording the whole thing while Bucky stayed by your side whispering and telling you words of encouragement. You wanted to give up. But you couldn’t you had to keep going. The doctor said one more push five pushes ago. 

“Fuck, You are so lucky you don’t have to do this.” you said before pushing again and squeezing Bucky’s hand.

You thought one last push make it a good one. You did it and there she was. BEAUTIFUL as ever. You were crying and she was crying. She had the most precious cry.  Bucky turned to you and said “Babe, I think i have a new love. She is beautiful just like you but god does she have my eyes.” You were smiling and cryong happy tears. Until,You were pulled from your thoughts when felt pain.

“Bucky, I don’t feel to good.” You said before your head fell back into the bed. Everything was a blur. You were given anesthesia and you were out.

“What the hell is going on?” 

“Sir, there has been some complications you must leave so we can do our jobs.” 

“No, i can’t leave her. She will be all alone, please let me stay.”

‘Bucky we have to go. If you want her to be okay we have to get out of there way. We can’t lose her Bucky. Pleas come on.” Nat grabbed his shoulder dragging him out.  He knew she was right. They couldn’t lose her. She can’t leave him not now. 

He walked out to everyone yelling. They saw Bucky’s and Nats face and stopped. 

“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?” Tony yelled. Bucky fell into the chair not wanting to talk.

“The baby is fine BUT ….’ 

“BUT FUCKING WHAT?” Sam spat.

“(Y/N) had some complications. She is in surgery now. We don’t know what could happen.” she said with a tear falling from her cheek.

The next few hours were hell. They all waited around. Everyone went to see the baby. One at a time. Bucky never left. It had been three hours and still no word. Until finally a doctor walked out. Everyone stood up waiting for him to reach them. 

“Is Mr. Barnes here?” he asked. Bucky moved forward.

“I am right here.”

“Sir, I came out her to inform you that you wife——”

It has been three days since you found out you were Pregnant. You couldn’t believe it. You were excited but also scared because a) You had to hide it from Bucky and b) you didn’t want another miscarriage. You were laying down on the bed trying to figure out what you would do and how you were going to hide it from him. You thought you guys could stay on the island for a few more months and then when you were getting bigger go back. You thought you guys could be away and not stress about missions for at least three more months. Well at least you could use that as a cover. You were brought back from your thoughts when you heard a knock on the door.

“It’s open.” you yelled out.

“Is everyone in here fully clothed? i don’t want Barnacle to kill me for seeing something i shouldn’t.” Tony yelled back.

“Oh my Lanta Tony he is in the shower and yes i am fully clothed.”  and with that he walked into the room and sat next where you were laying.

“So about this party for Barnes when do you want it to take place because we are leaving in a few days.You know duty calls.”he winks at you. Shit you forgot. You had been so caught up in finding out you were pregnant that you forgot to plan the party. Thank the heavens, that Tony is a party animal. 

“I was thinking maybe the day after tomorrow so we can plan let everyone know. I mean everyone I want is here so the getting the guests here isn’t a problem it’s keeping it from Bucky. You know some of them have blabber mouths.” you smirk  

“How about this i plan and get everyone situated for tonight and you keep him occupied.” 

“Yeah I can do that. Is everything already set up? It is isn’t it.” 

“Yeah, it is. You said Party and i got excited. Everyone is ready so we are ready when you are we just need you and him but do occupy him a little longer. We still need a few things.” Tony smiled as he walked out of the room. Great how am I going to occupy him? SHOWER. 

“Hey babe. Are you almost done?” 

“I am almost out why? Is something wrong, Doll?”

“No I just wanted to shower but i don’t want to be alone.”

“You can join me?” 

You slowly took your clothes off and got in the shower with him. You were so glad that you were only three months and were not really showing. You just looked bloated. You were stand behind him as he showered you were admiring his body and his scars. You loved the way his metal arm connected with his flesh. You loved the way his hair looks when it was wet. You were so tempted to mound him right there but you were afraid if you did he would be worried. You guys have had sex but it was like once a week and not every other day like you use to. 

“Earth to (y/n).” Bucky’s arms were waving in your face.

“Yeah, sorry I was just .. uhh..” 

“Enjoying the view?” he said with his signature smirk.

“I guess you could say that. I was just thinking how lucky i am to have a Husband like you.” 

“Yeah you kinda hit the jackpot with me.” he joked. You smacked his arm before  kissing his cheek.

“Babe. I love you, you know that right? I just want you to know how much i appreciate you and everything you have ever done and everything you ever will do. You are my favorite person and I can’t imagine a world without you.” he said before he kissed your forehead.

Your emotions were on high alert. You loved when he told you this. You knew he loved you but you loved hearing it. You were trying to hold back your tears but because of your state you couldn’t and you got a confused look from Bucky. 

“Did I say something wrong?” whispered in your ear.

“No it’s just-.” you couldn’t think of word because you were crying so much so you just leaned in and kissed him. The kiss was so passionate and so longing you missed these kisses you missed his touch. Slowly pulling away you earned a whine from Bucky. 

“Can we just stay in here forever?” 

“ We can’t. We have to get ready. We are going to dinner with the team for your birthday. They said they missed it and felt bad so they need to celebrate with you.”

“But I already had the best birthday with you.”

“No butts!!! i don’t want Steve to be mad at me. So we need to get out already and get ready.”

“Five more minutes. Please?” he said with his pouting face and puppy dog eyes.

“Fine but then we have to get out.” You washed your hair and body then got out to get dressed. You wanted to wear a pretty tight red dress but you felt fat in it and you didn’t want anyone questioning your health. You slipped into a pretty summer dress loose but still showing off you best qualities. When you turned around you saw Buck. He looked gorgeous. He was wearing a button up dress shirt with a blazer and nice pants. He was fixing his hair but getting frustrated because it wouldn’t stay back. You walked over and had him sit on the toilet. You were fixing his hair, when you got startled because he grabbed you waist. You quickly finished and walked out. He walked out a few moments after you to everyone yelling surprise. He was a little shocked that no one told him. he walked around to say thank you to everyone until you all finally sat around the couch. 

You guys all went around talking about your favorite Bucky memories. Steve’s was your favorite because he talked about the day Bucky first saw you and on that day he finally saw his friend truly happy, the happiest he has been in a long time. 

“Hey Buck, remember the day you first saw (y/n)?” Steve asked 

“How could i forget.” he said as he intertwined your hand with his.

“I don’t know if you guys knew this but when bucky first saw her the first words out of his mouth was I’M GOING TO MARRY THAT GIRL. I just laughed but two years later there he was standing at the end of the alter. He had even met her yet and he knew. That day was the first day he stopped moping around and became a better/happier man. I can never thank you for what you have done for him (y/n).”  he smiled and you smiled back.

“Not that i don’t like this sentimental stuff. I would like to party before we have to go back to kicking ass.” Tony spat. 

“We should play a drinking game.” Clint shouted from the kitchen. Your eyes widen and you immediately looked to Nat for help. You couldn’t drink you were pregnant and if you didn’t drink they would all know. You can deal with that just yet. 

“Well we can play but (y/n) can’t. She and I made a bet yesterday. I bet that she couldn’t drink for three months.” Nat said.

“WHY? why the hell would you make that bet?” Tony said almost spitting out his drink. 

“She said i drink to much and I said that i don’t so we made the bet. And when have you known me to back out of a bet?” you said thanking Nat with your eyes. 

The night seem to go on forever. Everyone was drunk except for you and Thor. Steve and Bucky were buzzed but everyone was DRUNK. You felt that you had to take care of everyone. You took bucky to bed and then sent everyone to there rooms. Of course you didn’t think that through so they all ended up all passed out on the floor in the living room because they couldn’t walk. You helped Nat first because she was the lightest and took her to the room her and Clint were sharing. Clint was next. Thor and Steve helped with Tony and Bruce. You put the twins in the room next to yours and then by the time you got back to get Sam he was hauled over Steve’s shoulder. You went to all the rooms and said goodnight before heading to bed. You changed into one of Bucky’s shirt and underwear. 

“Let’s make a baby.” Bucky mumbled.

“Bucky. We have to talk in the morning okay.” you said turning toward him to realize he was talking in his sleep. You didn’t think it was going to be so hard. You hated not telling him. The next morning everyone didn’t get up until about 2 in the afternoon. You made lunch for everyone when they finally got up. They all got a call from Fury saying they were needed back ASAP. They finished lunch and then said there goodbyes. You were sad because you missed them and you missed missions but you knew you couldn’t go back at least not now. 

It has been a month since you found out and it has been fairly easy. Although, you have been eating everything and having sex like a wild animal Bucky never questioned you until one night. He had asked you when you last got your period. You thought you were caught. You froze,you couldn’t even think. You couldn’t come up with a lie. You just lied there and didn’t say anything. 

“Hey, I am sorry if i upset you. It’s just i haven’t seen you use any of those tadpole looking thing in a while. Maybe we are Pre-” he caught himself before he could finish because he thought you were still sensitive on the subject. He turned pulled you in closer to him. Slowly running his hands on your stomach.You still haven’t said anything because you couldn’t keep lying. You knew if you said anything it would be “I’M PREGNANT!!!!” You just laid there staring at the ceiling. You wanted to tell. Oh god did you want to tell him. You knew you couldn’t but the more you thought about not telling him, hurt you. You knew he would find out, you didn’t know when or how he would but he would. You started crying because you knew that when he finds out he is going to be angry and he is going to feel like you don’t trust him but you do. It’s just not about just you anymore. You tuned to confess but he stopped you with his lips. He held you close and rubbed his hand through your hair. You fell asleep almost instantly. 

The next two months went by faster than you thought is was going to be. You were now six months. You were very glad that you kept in shape because it didn’t really look like you were pregnant. You just looked like you were getting fat. You had exercised every night after Bucky went to bed. You had been doing good. You took all of the vitamins and other things to keep the baby healthy. You were excited because you had held it for so long but even more happy because today is the day you were going to tell him. You were going to tell him after your shower but before you could even get in your phone rang. You wondered who would be calling you. The caller “BESTFRANNND” of course Nat would be calling. 

“Hello?” 

“Hey (y/n) it’s Nat.”

“I know this is Nat.” you giggled into the phone. 

“Oh okay well. I uhh.. well  ummm... okay..”

“NATALIA. You’re scaring me. What is wrong?” 

“Well i know you said when you got about six months you wanted to tell Bucky.”

“mmmhmmm” 

“Well i think it would be better if you waited a little longer. I was thinking you could say i need you for a mission and he can stay there til’ we are ‘done’ and then maybe like eight months you could tell him. I know you hate lying and keeping this from him. I just want your baby *cough couch* my god child to be safe. I know that you can still have a you know what right now and i don’t want to risk it. I care too much about you,the baby, and Bucky. So please consider it.”

You heard footsteps behind you, Bucky’s footsteps. You had a choice stay and tell him or go and wait a little longer. You knew she was right so you knew your choice well you mind did. Your heart wanted something else. Your mind over powered you.

“When do we leave. okay. okay. Yeah i will let him know. He said just me alright see you soon. Love you Nat. bye.”

You turned and saw a confused Bucky. 

“Babe, what’s going on?” you took a deep breath.

“Nat needs me for a mission. She needs her and I to go undercover. They want only me. They think it would be good for me to do this mission before you come back. They don’t want you to coddle me. They know how we both are since.. the uhh.. the.... uuhhm... miscarriage.” you whispered the last part. “I think it would be good to. I need to get back in the groove of things. Just because I want to go doesn’t mean it will hurt any less. I will miss seeing your face everyday. I just need some time.”

“Are you saying you want a break. from us?” you could see the tears forming in his beautiful blue eyes.

“God no Bucky. I just think we should have some us time before we can be us again. It sounds like a break but it isn’t. I just want us to find us individually before we even think about trying to be us again. I want us to try again. I want a baby with you,my love. i do. That is why i think this is a good idea. I need you to have time for yourself. you have been taking care of me this whole ‘vacation’.”

“So this isn’t a break? Husbands are suppose to take care of there wives.” he said letting out a sigh. “ You really think this is the best thing for us?” you nod.

“Okay but you better skype me everyday and text me. I know we will get through this. I will never stop loving you, you know that right? I just wish I could go with you but I know eventually we will both go back to work together and i will worry but knowing that you are getting back out there now i will be worried as hell but when i go with you. I will be less worried and more proud of our progress.” he said while walking out of the bathroom towards your walk-in closet to help pack your things. 

It was time. The quinjet landed and Nat walked off and went to get you. She knocked on the door to find Bucky standing there. You looked like a little kid ready to go to summer camp. You had a backpack on and your bags were near the door. You got up and before you let you kissed Bucky. It felt like only seconds but from the annoyed cough from Nat it must have been at least a few minutes. 

“Take care of my, girl.” Bucky yelled at Nat before you reached the quinjet.

“When have I ever not?” she yelled back rolling her eyes in a playful manner. And with that you were on the jet with Nat heading back home. For the most part it was silent mostly small talk. You could tell she was beating around the bush.

“Alright ask.” you spat.

“So, in all honestly he doesn’t know.Like he has no idea.”

“Nope. He has no clue. i have been exercising like crazy but still being healthy.I  had to make it seem like i was gaining weight but not too much.”

“I have to say. You look good for a mother who has now been pregnant for six months.” 

“I try, i try” you said flipping your hair being silly. 

When you got back to the tower everyone greeted you. You were glad to be back.No one knew that you were pregnant except for Nat and yo wanted it to stay that way but of course it didn’t. The first one to find out after Nat obvi. Was Tony. He saw you taking pills frequently and he was worried so one night when you were asleep he snuck into your room and found your pills. Before he flushed them down the toilet he read the label and it read “PRENATAL VITAMIN”. He walked out of your restroom and sat on your bed. He slowly shook you until you woke. 

“Is there a reason you woke me up at 3:36 in the morning Tony?” ypu said furiously. 

“Actually yes.” as he tossed the pills on you lap.

You just laid there quiet for a few moments until he spoke.

“Please tell me it’s one arm wonder because if it isn’t im going to kick your ass.”

You were a little shocked to here those words especially from tony’s lips. 

“Yes it is Bucky’s. Do you think i’m a slut of or something?”

“No it is just it has been like a few weeks since you seen him and you don’t look pregnant so that’s why i asked. If it is his how pregnant are you?”

“I am six months seven months next week. Are you done interrogating me, I am tired and this isn’t healthy for the baby.” you said in between a yawn. 

“Yeah i am done. Well for tonight. “ he got up and walked out. 

Eventually everyone found out. Well not everyone. Bucky still didn’t know and neither did Sam or Steve. They were the blabber mouths and you were glad they haven’t found out. You were eight months and 1 week. you looked pregnant but you didn’t. it was weird because everyone who knew you were pregnant said you looked pregnant but from those who didn’t know you were prego you just looked like you were getting fat. You were int he shower. It was about the time Bucky usually called but you woke up late so your schedule was shifted. You were glad because today was the day he would find out. Your phone rang about 7 times before you yelled for Nat to answer it for you. You could hear Bucky from the other side of the door and he didn’t sound happy.

“(Y/N) !!!!” Bucky yelled at the phone. He soon realized that you didn’t answer that NAT did. 

“Hey Buck. What’s wrong? you look like you could punch a house down.” Nat spoke to the phone worried/.

He simply ignored her and asked for you. 

“She is in the shower Bucky. Do you want me to leave a message?” 

“No, I want to talk to my wife. My apparently Pregnant wife.” He said as he held up the bag of prenatal vitamins.Nats face went blank. He knew she knew. He knew that face. He was furious. 

“You know what. Tell her i said I will see here in a couple of hours.” he said before hanging up. 

Literally as he hung up you walked out from the bathroom.

“Hey Nat. What is wrong?” 

“UHH... Bucky knows. He found your bag of prenatal vitamins and he is on his way here.” she said in a monotone voice. 

You couldn’t breath. This is not how you wanted him to find out. You had to prepare yourself. You knew this day would come but you never knew when and now that it was here you couldn’t think or breath. Nat laid you on the bed so you could rest and before you knew it you were woken up by the slamming of a door. You knew it was Buck. You knew his angry better than anyone. Well besides steve. He walked into the room his hair in his face and eyes red and puffy. You knew he was crying and you knew it was because of you and that killed you. He look directly at your belly.Before you could move or do anything he asked.

“WHY?”

“Sit down please and i will explain.”

“Sit down. Bull fucking shit. i will not.” he spat. 

“Babe please.” you already feeling the tears rolling down.

“No you will not guilt me into this. Nope not this. So answer me why didn’t you tell me?”

“I just couldn’t okay.”

“Not good enough everyone has a reason.”

“I was scared okay. I was scared shitless. I knew you wanted a baby. i knew WE wanted a baby. I couldn’t handle the stress. i knew if i told you, ypu would get excited and i was afraid i was going to break your heart again.” you were still crying but it was harder this time.

He was angry but he knew what you meant. “You could have told me. We could have worked through it together. You didn’t have to keep it from me.” 

“I had to. I had to Bucky. I had no choice. It wasn’t and still isn’t just about you or me anymore. I had to do what was best for our child.” you spat at him. 

“Was the whole im going back to work all a lie? You know what i know it was because Nat would never let you work if you were pregnant. Does steve know? you nodded a quick no.

“How many months are you?” he yelled. You stood quite. “HOW MANY MONTHS ARE YOU (Y/N)?”

“Eight okay. Im eight months pregnant.” you said almost in a whisper you could barely get out the words.

“Eight fucking months. Wow. I can’t believe it. The one person I thought would never lie to me. Has been lying to me for the past eight months.” 

“James, please.” 

“NO, don’t James this. Do you even love me? Was anything that ever came out of your mouth real?” he yelled at you.

“How could you even ask that Bucky I love you with very part of my body. I can’t live without you. You are the love of my life.” 

“Obviously, you have been doing just fine without me these past two months. You didn’t have to keep this from me.” he said  a little lower but still loud. “I know what it is. You are scared of me. That has to be it. You think i would have hurt you or the baby. You didn’t think i could take it after the last one we lost.” 

“I wasn’t scared of you Bucky. I WAS SCARED OF ME.” You spat.

“I was scared that i wasn’t going to be able to have this baby and you would hate me everyday for it.I was afraid that one day you would wake up and realize you deserve better. That you could have kids with someone who was emotionally and physically able. I hated myself for not telling you. Everyday i would wake and say tell him just fucking tell him. I just couldn’t i would look at you and i saw happiness and i didn’t want to ruin it. so i did what i knew best i hid. i kept away. I couldn’t live with myself if i lost this baby our baby.” you said before you got up and walked over to Bucky. He just turned away and walked out the door. He took your heart with him. You slowly fell to the ground weeping. You knew it would be bad but you never thought he would walk out on you. You lied on the floor for about an hour thinking about all the great thing you and him had done together. You got up to use the restroom and you felt pain you figured it was just contractions. it wasn’t you made your way out of tour room and into the living room where everyone sat. They were all talking about you and Bucky was there with his head in his hands. everyone looked up when they heard you walking closer to them. You stopped.

“ guys i don’t feel to good.” Everyone looked at you in horror. You were bleeding and everyone knew that wasn’t a good sign.You felt another sharp pain and before you fell you spoke directly to Bucky. 

“I am sorry. I never wanted to hurt you.” before you fell to the ground and everything went black.
