This year is the final Bikers Reunion.
This event is so amazing guys. Our tiny town transforms into this massive bike paradise. People come from all over. I’ve talked to people from Austria, England, a good chunk of the States, it’s so cool. We have tens of thousands of bikers, and bike enthusiasts, descend and just have a good time. We have live entertainment (cover bands) the Cannon Lady, Stunt Driving, animal shows, vendors and tattoos artists and food. Omg the food. The main street gets shut down and all the shops have sales going on. There’s face painting, food, more live music and dance showcases, food, rock wall climbing... more food.
It’s been going on for 15 years now, and the money raised goes towards cancer care in our area. Being in the North, we don’t have a lot of access to treatment centres or even the machines to diagnose. The main treatment centre is 3 hours away, where patients usually stay a week at a time for radiation and chemotherapy. With the money raised, they’ve been able to have treatments begin here at our hospital, which is great so our friends and family don’t have to be away from us during this time. I wish my dad would’ve been able to have access to it during his second battle with cancer.
The reasons behind this being the last year are pretty tight lipped. I hope that someone does take over the event though because while it’s a huge boost to our economy, it also brings such JOY to people. Everyone is so happy, and it gives people hope. I just needed to talk about it a little bit.
