Buddy Collette and the Swinging Shepherds
Buddy Collette came of age in a fertile Los Angeles scene that also included Charles Mingus, Dexter Gordon and Chico Hamilton. Although he had some profile in Chico’s first quintet and with his own flute ensemble The Swingin’ Shepherds, he was a victim of his own success as a studio musician in constant demand in the recording studios and soundstages of LA.
