•The Orion Nebula (M42)• Distance: 1,350ly Constellation: Orion Equipment: Seestar S50
A massive emission/reflection nebula visible to the naked eye, the Orion Nebula is a vast star forming region made primarily of hydrogen gas and obscuring dust particles. Approximately 4,000 times the mass of the Sun, it is the nearest star forming region to the Earth and is illuminated by the young bright cluster of stars known as the Trapezium.

Tulip Nebula (Sh2-101) with Cygnus X-1 Black Hole (HD 226868)
95 minutes on the Tulip Nebula in Cygnus, stacked and stretched in Siril, processed in Photoshop.
This photo also includes Cygnus X-1, a significant x-ray source which turned out to be the first black hole discovered. It obviously cannot be seen directly, however the black hole orbits HD 226868 (brightest star to the upper right of the nebula). The object was famously the subject of the bet between Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne, with Hawking betting that it was not a black hole while hoping to lose the wager.
