Day 22 - Favorite Giles Quote

This scene in Dead Mans Party in season 3 is so hilarious! It’s classic Giles, so British. I just love him and his annoyed humor. Definitely has some of the best little side insults. Also his face as he says this set of lines is so fricken perfect.

DAY 2 - FAVE CHARACTER

I know I know, this is inevitable but the best character in Buffy The Vampire Slayer is Buffy Summers herself. She is the entire plot, the main character, she has the best devolpment. She is us.

Day 16 - Saddest Scene

- Mommy? -

Can I just put the whole episode of the body as the saddest scene in Buffy? Because it is. There are too many moments in this episode that qualify for me. Anya’s speech for one. I’ve said it in a previous post but that speech for me is the most universal representation of grief. Death makes you a kid again, worrying about the dead not having fruit punch again or brushing their hair. Another part of this episode is when Buffy goes to tell Dawn. I literally breakdown. They don’t let us hear Buffy say the words, but you can hear Dawns reaction, “No it’s not true. No you’re a liar! She’s fine!” And she falls to the floor. Having to go tell Dawn at school that their mother is dead is heartbreaking. But the moment I chose, is when Buffy walks into the house and finds Joyce. She walks in, sees the flowers, is teasing her mom about getting them. “What ya doin?” You can see the moment reflected in Buffys face when she realizes what’s going on. And Buffy says “Mom? Mom? Mommy?” I bawl. A beautifully acted and heartbreaking scene. And so real.

Day 26 - Two Characters You Wish Got Together

- Willow and Anya -

I’m sure a lot of you won’t agree. But this scene is what sparked my thoughts on this pairing. It would have been hilarious to watch! These two provide so much comedy in scenes together they’re always bickering. I don’t think it’s a relationship that would have lasted but it would have been a wild ride for both of them. And I would have enjoyed every second of it.

Day 24 - Spike and Buffy OR Buffy and Angel

- Spike and Buffy -

These two went through so much. Starting as bitter enemies, going to reluctant allies, and finally ending as one of the few people she can lean on and rely upon to help with the things that only she was able to do in the past. Even though it’s a bit rough and at sometime abusive their friendship really grows into something beautiful. This scene above is probably the first time Spike ever realized what true connection was. And Buffy always had to be the strong one. This is a moment she was able to just be and know she had someone who was there to shoulder every bit of the weight that she’s had to carry every day since she was chosen. Their’s was a complex adult relationship, while her and Angel was a high school romance for her, as deep as it was. And perhaps he was her soulmate too but I think Spike touched a side of her that Angel couldn’t. If Buffy was simply a girl not a slayer I think Angel would have been the one for her. But slayer Buffy, needed someone who understood her darkness and Spike did indeed do that.

Day 23 - Favorite Spike Quote

Of course this whole monologue is amazing. As weird as it sounds since he has no soul, and he’s in love with Drusilla who’s completely nuts, but Spike gets love. He understands how completely consuming it is and how undeniable. It will make you crazy and for him it does. For everyone I think love makes us a bit crazy. And I love this one line the most from this epic speech. “I may be love’s bitch, but at least I’m man enough to admit it” so true and something most won’t admit. Love rules us all, really. And it’s a line that’s always stuck with me.

Day 20 - Favorite Willow Quote

Now Willow has many many great lines. A few came to mind when I was selecting this one. A couple being the “a vague disclaimer is nobodies friend” line and “I’ve seen honest faces before. They usually come attached to liars.” But I resonate with this one a lot. And what leads to this line is pretty funny and of course strange.

Buffy: Should I burn them?

Willow: I brought marshmallows! ... Occasionally, I'm callous and strange.
