'Spellbound' --Spike/reader part 1

Summary: Spike becomes enamored with a mysterious witch he meets at a bar, and, thoroughly obsessed, he begins stalking them, desperate to convince them to have his heart.

Tags/notes: implied stalking, reader is a witch, nothing romantic just yet but tension (I <3 tension)

You were immediately attracted to it. The lights, the sounds, the smell of cigarettes mingling with criminally cheap bar food and the bitter taste of the cold night air. 

A punk bar. who would have thought of something like that? 

it was probably actually the sound of the sex pistols' "Anarchy in the U.K" blasting halfway down the street that really reeled you in. Sure, they might have been insanely popular, but if this joint played sex pistols like it was just  any  old thing,what other goodies might they have in their rotation? you had to find out, maybe you would even wind up seeing some up and coming punk band--  a bunch of sweaty, shouting British boys.

pushing the door in and noticing the thump of  the music, the people swaying on the floor, the  lack of live music- skillfully replaced by a throbbing speaker connected to a radio playing a CD. The disc in the corner of the room sputtered and the song changed as the first few notes of dancing with myself by Gen X began to play throughout the bar. You make your way slowly to the counter, eyeing the crowd of punk, goth and alternatively dressed people on the floor and the sidelines.

A nervous lightweight, you find yourself shifting your weight and taking the smallest sip from the glass in your hand, your cold fingers wrapped round the glass. slipping from the bar stool and feeling the effects of the drink almost immediately, you step over to the dance floor with an excited sway in your step.  fueled by the sound of the jumpy and rushed music flooding the crowded space around you, you quickly shimmied your way around the dance floor, body moving naturally to the beat. 

You dance for a moment, letting yourself get lost in the familiar sounds and melodies and allowing your body to sway and move along with the music. This wasn't all that bad, the music was all good picks and the crowd wasn't as violent as you would have expected. Plus, who would've guessed there would be a decent club on the outskirts of Sunnydale? Dancing along to the rugged beat, you found yourself sliding over to the other side of the room, your body guiding you like it had a mind of it's own. Slowly, you looked around, noticing you were in an unfamiliar part of the surprisingly large crowd.

seeing a figure looking to you from across the floor, you make your way slowly to them,  the curiosity overtaking your body. you allow yourself to sway gently to the beat as you move, hips shifting along to the music as you draw closer to the figure. Not wanting to  get too close, worrying that he might realize you noticing him, you decide to stand in a crowded area a safe distance away to try to get a read on what he might want. 

He looked. . . vaguely dangerous, though you couldn't tell. he had a strangely imposing air to him, and the way he had been relentlessly staring at you, then blinking away like he expected you not to notice wasn't helping him much. With his long leather duster and his sharp gaze, he didn't exactly look like the most friendly guy ever, not that the crowd of people thrashing around you left you much room to see anything.

the stranger takes a deep drag of his cigarette, letting out a sharp exhale, letting his cold eyes meet yours "Bloody hell." he states, seeming to be looking you up and down, something between sizing you up and checking you out. you take a small step back.

leaning down to your level, the man said "Now."

"what's a bird like you doing in a trashy place like this?" he shook the ashes off his cigarette, stamping it out under his foot.

you blink. For some reason, you hadn't expected him to actually notice you, much less confront you. Yet, with one glance behind you, you were certain he could only be talking to you.

"Well, what's everyone else doing?" you opt for sarcasm as a small way to hide how anxious you were "Dancing. This is a club, I assume"

"y/n" he repeated, his eyes trained on your face as he tried out the sound of your name, enjoying such a simple thing "rolls off the tongue real nice, doesn't it?"

you nod, slightly unsure of yourself. "And you are?" you wince, realizing you sounded more scared than you wanted to, hoping to come off as confident

"Spike." he paused "the name's Spike."

when he says this, you look up to face him, having to crane your neck up a bit to do so, taking notice of how short you were compared to him. Finally getting a good look at him, you notice it-- the pale skin, almost translucent; the mysterious atmosphere he has. He's a vampire. Oh my god, he's a vampire. And a surprisingly  nonchalant one too. He didn't seem to be acting all bite-y, wasn't immediately lunging to kill you, like most of the vampires you had met had done. Though, in your years of being a witch, you hadn't gotten the chance to meet too many vampires, not for a proper conversation, at least. Usually it was just the average vamp interfering with your magic or attacking you in the middle of the night, no tension, no words exchanged, stake to the heart, then it was all over.

This one was different, it seemed.

you shuffle a little, leaning back on your feet unsure of what to do with your realization, yet deciding it would be best that he knew you knew. 

"So. . . you always kick off your days at punk themed bars?" you shoot the stranger a small smirk, trying to hide it by covering your mouth with one hand.

"Days?" he moves further into the dance floor, something that makes him look almost like a bird circling its prey. Oh, you were interesting, picking up on his nature so quickly-- he just had to know you, had to know why you had him so captivated in this moment.

"Well. . .You're perceptive, I'll give you that." he blinks down at you, aiming a quizzical glance your way. "yes, I guess it would be morning for me right now" Spike shrugs "What of it? It's not like I'm planning to hurt anyone. Well, not now at least"

you shake your head. He was way too casual, too calm in  a way that felt out of place when met with the pale skin, coppery smell lingering on him, and obviously vampiric nature. You had encountered many vampires, staked a good handful of them, though none that would hang around in human places, enjoying oddly human things.

The vampire sighs "besides, this place has got some bloody good tunes" he gestures to the music with a wave of his hand 

You found yourself smiling and nodding, feeling light. It was almost surreal-- He had good taste and he talked like he was a regular human, and was treating you like you were one, too. It felt like something unreal, vampire and witch, enjoying one another's company.

The night came and went far faster than you could have expected-- you saw Spike one other time, when he met you on your way out the door. Pushing a hand between you and the outside, he had offered to walk you home, said his was on the way. you declined. You weren't about to die tonight.

 You left the flashing lights and pulsing music only a little more tipsy than you had been, and with only one strange vampire encounter for the night.

As you made your way home, the long night took it's toll on you and pushed exhaustion to your whole body, you couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, strange. the feeling didn't go away as you reached your house, turning the key in the lock. 

The thought had crossed your mind that the vampire from the club could have been following you, he was a vampire after all, a creature of the night whose intentions were unknown to you. He had acted nice enough,  but with the way he had been staring and lurking around the club, who knows what he might have in store for you? maybe a protection spell would be necessary once you got settled inside.

The chill of the night air around you mixed and mingled with the chill running down your spine, and as you turned your head around to check for anyone, you catch sight of a stray cigarette dropping next to a tree, but no sign of the smoker.

You decided to leave it be as you closed the door behind you-- vampire or not, he couldn't get in without permission and the protection spell you cast would do the rest for you. You wouldn't see him again. . .Would you?

warnings: this is a bit silly but i couldn’t get the idea out of my head lol, bit of swearing, bg3 spoilers maybe for astarion, suggestive themes at the end, it’s also pretty short n sweet

author’s note: I’M BACK BABY! was plagued with this idea so had to write it. please let me know what you think and if you want more spike fics (or some astarion hehe). not sure how i feel about this bc it’s been unfinished for so long but hopefully you like it!!!

“Oh bloody hell, again?”

You turned to peer at your boyfriend who had just climbed into your window, watching him lean against the sill with a pout on his face.

You paused briefly to shoot him a smile, before turning back to pause the game and engage in full conversation with him.

“Listen babe, you bought me the Xbox,” you hummed teasingly, “You basically encouraged this. And you got back just in time for the next Astarion romance scene!”

He scoffed, “Oh gee golly, lucky me.”

You laughed, shaking your head with a roll of your eyes, “C’mon sourpuss, come sit down.”

Reluctantly, he made his way over the couch and sat himself down beside you, momentarily softening as you leaned into him before huffing again when you resumed play.

“Can barely remember the time when I used to climb in through your bedroom window and be met with kisses ‘n’ love,” he tutted, “Now I’m competing for your attention with a bloody cluster of pixels on a screen.”

“Hey, no competition,” you shook your head, pressing a kiss to his temple before sticking out your tongue teasingly, “Not much, anyway.”

He scoffed, “What d’you even see in the bloke? He’s all silver hair and melodrama.”

It was your turn to scoff now, looking across at him with eyes that practically screamed ‘are you kidding?’ as he rolled his.

“My hair is blonde,” he folded his arms over with a grunt, “And I am so not melodramatic.”

You reached out to rub his forearm, “And yet here you are in a strop because I fancy a cluster of pixels on a screen.”

In that moment, your screen showed a small exclamation mark atop Astarion’s head at camp.

You giggled as you folded your legs so they were crossed and sat up straight to start the dialogue with your favourite character.

“Bloody shameless,” Spike narrowed his eyes, “Gettin’ all hot for him when I’m right here!”

Nudging him slightly, you let out a small laugh, “I am not getting hot for him! I’m just enjoying my game and happen to have a type.”

“Oi!”

Throughout the game conversation, and the romantic cutscene that followed, Spike spent the whole time continuing to grumble and making fun of things Astarion would say.

“Who’s this evil fella he’s whining about,” he gestured towards the screen after Astarion mentioned his desire to defeat his master Cazador, “and why don’t you fancy him instead if he’s so big and bad?”

“I’m assuming you’re saying that because you still consider yourself a big bad, babe,” you chuckled, “So can I remind you that pre-soul evil you… I was so not interested in.”

He gasped, “Hey! I could still be a big bad if I wanted to. And you so were interested in me. I saw you always giving me googly eyes and all that.”

“Googly eyes?”

“Lookin’ at me all like you wanted to either marry me or rip my clothes off,” he smirked, running his tongue over his teeth, “Not that I’d have minded either way, love.”

You’d paused your game now, eyes fixated on your boyfriend, who was matching your gaze intently.

“Well I’m not blind,” you discarded your controller and crawled into his lap, the game music quietly ongoing in the background as his arms curled around you and he pressed a kiss to your forehead.

“Well you fancy this silly video game bloke so your taste ain’t all that good, love.”

You peered up at him, “He’s a blonde — fine, silver haired—British vampire, with a satisfying redemption arc, a good heart deep down and a pretty face to top all that off.”

Spike seemed thoughtful for a moment, his eyes narrowed as he pulled you tighter to his chest, “He’s not even a proper vampire!”

“For someone who hates him so much, you’ve paid a lot of attention to his storyline, baby,” you teased.

He grunted, “Gotta size up the competition, duh.”

You giggled as you leaned up to nip at his jawline with soft kisses, showering him with the affection his silly jealousy seemed to have left him craving, “Like I said, he’s not real and not competition.”

Spike hummed in appreciation, hand curling tighter around your waist as he tilted his head down to capture your lips with his.

You matched the feverish passion immediately, hands curling around his neck as you shifted to straddle him now.

He pulled back for just a second, pouring like a petulant child, “See, I’m the one you should be gettin’ all flustered for. It’s only me who gets to actually make you feel like this.”

Your cheeks stained crimson at his words, lashes fluttering up at him as his warm breath fanned over your face and his hands moved down to cup your thighs close to him.

“You are, you idiot,” you whispered, kissing the corner of his lips, “It is.”

“Mhm, you can forget about Asterix or whatever his bloody name is,” the skirt you were wearing was completely ridden up now, his hand underneath it and palming the soft flesh of your thigh, “Wastin’ your time playing that game when you’ve got me here to take care of you.”

You laughed, “Need I remind you that I was playing it ‘cause you weren’t here. And it’s Astarion.”

“Ah so you’re replacing me with the pixel bloke, huh,” the teasing in his tone was still tinged with with a little tint of jealousy, “Go do good for five minutes and you need to get your rocks off watching animated you getting it on with an animated vampire.”

You shook your head, “Stop making this weird you jealous idiot,” another chuckle escaped your parted lips as you leaned over to turn the Xbox off.

“Jealous? Pfft.”

“It’s a game,” you hummed against his jawline, now pressing kisses along it again and down the length of his throat, “But this isn’t.”

Your hands brushed down the expanse of Spike’s back, gripping his t-shirt and removing it in one swift motion as he raised his arms and smirked at you.

Returning his hands to your thighs, it was his turn to laugh, “Oh I know that, sweet thing.”

Your lips met again, eyes fluttering shut as he kissed you like he really did need to show you he was better and more important than the silly crush you had on your favourite character.

He scooped you up, carrying you over to your bed quickly and gently placing you down on the bed beneath him, climbing over you immediately.

Your hands flew up to his bare chest, hooking round his neck to pull him back in for a kiss.

He smirked into the kiss, withdrawing his head for just one second as he began to unbutton your blouse, “That’s my girl.”

You loved how possessive Spike could be. How obsessed he was with showing you how he felt about you and just how much he’d do to make it known you were his.

“I love you, Spike,” you smiled, breathlessly mumbling the words as his hands kept you close to him.

“I love you too, sweetheart,” he replied between kisses, pausing for a moment to shake his head as he remembered the previous conversation that had led you here.

“And I still don’t know what you see in him!”

“Would you just shut up and kiss me?”

“They’re getting worse spike” i mumble in the darkness into his chest. His muscular arms were wrapped around my body tightly. “I know babe- we will figure it out I promise” he told me brushing a hand through my hair. “I’m just so scared of outing myself at school- or in public” “I’m scared too- I don’t want to lose you” spike whispered back to me. I felt a lot safer in his arms than I had done all day.

With these unknown powers within me growing stronger everyday, I never knew when I was safe. Only when I was entangled with him. If anything good came from this situation, it brought me and spike closer. His words became extra soppy now, and I loved it. “Well I’m not going anywhere willingly” I told him, I heard him chuckle and his hand came down my back rubbing my spine.

“We just need to take one day at a time, we will figure it out- tomorrow’s a new day” he told me before brushing his lips against my forehead. "Okay" I breathed out closing my eyes and tried to go to sleep. It was a lot easier with Spike, if I had been on my own it would have proved more difficult.

I woke up a little late for school so the morning was kind of a rush. Spike just laid in bed watching me run about my room for a while before getting ready himself. He offered to take me to school, after seeing that the day was very cloudy, so I didn't have to drive seems I was stressed out. Spike was also a lot more confident at driving than me so it saved me time too. "I'll pick you up too okay" he smiled as I collected my things up.

"Are you sure?" "yes- ive got nothing on for the day anyway and you're my priority" he moved his hand over to my leg and rubbed my knee with his thumb comforting me. "Thank you- I'll see you at the end of the day then" I leant over and gave him a quick kiss before getting out of my car and running off to Tutor.

Spike waited for me to go out of sight before parking his car and getting out. He snuck his way into the school and tried to locate the library to complete his plan of action. That was what he had going on today. Once finding it he pushed the doors open and sure enough, Buffy was sat with her friends and Giles around one of the tables. They all looked at who had just walked in in utter shock.

"What the hell are you doing here" Buffy darted her head backwards in pure confusion. Spike swallowed hoping that things now were going to go his way. He walked slowly towards the table and sat up on the one behind Buffy. "I really need your help- I didn't know who else to turn to" he muttered almost a little embarrassed he had to come here to Buffy of all people.

"Why would I help a vampire- especially you" Buffy questioned making her eyebrow raise as she turned her full attention to Spike. "And after you broke into the school" Giles added, his face was obviously very weary of Spike. "I wouldn't be here if I had any other option would I?" he admitted gaining a little bit of confidence realising he needed a result today. "My girlfriend she goes here- you might even know her Y/N Y/L/N" he began explaining.

The students looked around at each other to see if anyone recognised the name, but no one did. Xander shrugged along with willow. "Well she must be a nerd" Cordelia voiced, looking at her nails and not caring about the conversation at all. "S-she's not a n-erd- look it doest matter if you don't know her- she goes here and she's been struggling recently".

"With what?" Buffy asked curiously, slowly becoming more interested. "I don't know how to explain it- she's developed these weird powers and she can't control them, ive never seen anything like it in all my years" he expressed with high concern, everyone could see how worried he was. "So she's a witch?" Willow piped up getting a little excited but the fact she wasn't understanding just pissed Spike off more.

"No- she's human, I wouldn't be here if she was a witch she's different- I don't understand her abilities so I don't know how she will either" he stated getting frustrated with the conversation. "If you're going to bring that attitude you can use the door- you know where it is" Giles tutted at the vampire. "Please Buffy we need your help- she's going to end up putting herself if something isn't done" Spike looked towards her with slight tears in her eyes. He didn't even care how desperate he looked, he was desperate. That was fact.

"Okay we will take a look- try and work out what is wrong with her- but because she's a human who needs our help not because she's your girlfriend" Buffy told him sticking her finger out at him. Spike sighed with relief that he'd done what he'd come here to do. "Thank you Buffy- I owe you one" he cracked a wide smile across his face making her smile too. He didn't smile very often.

"I didn't even know you had a girlfriend" Cordelia looked up at the man who shrugged his shoulders. "The more people who know about her the more danger she's in- I have a lot of enemies" he admitted standing up now. "and she- knows what you are?" Xander wondered tilting his head at Spike. "Of course- she knows everything" he nodded withholding the excitement he felt even talking about his girlfriend.

"You can bring her here later tonight, we will need the books if we are to figure out what is going on with her" Giles told Spike, not even moving his head from his current book to talk to the vampire. "I will- thank you- I'll get out of your hair" he clapped his hands together and exited the room so he could go and find a snack before school ended. "I have never seen spike so worried before- he must really like this girl" Buffy told the group.

"Well- we can only hope she's nothing like Spike" Giles took a deep sigh before closing his book and looking at his watch as his wrist turned. "Tutor is almost over, you guys should head to your lessons" "Ugh I hate sports first thing in the morning" Willow moaned through her head backwards. "Come on- the quicker we get it over with the quicker lunch comes" Buffy wiggled her eyebrows getting up from her chair.

Xander split off from them as he had to head to math, but the three girls walked to their gym class together. Turning into the locker rooms, no one else was present as it was too early and everyone else was finishing up in tutor.

I had gym class too but as I was sitting in tutor I could feel my table beginning to rock from side to side without me touching it. I washed in horror as it began speeding up. I there my hands onto it to stop it from rocking but I had no luck. Panic spread throughout my body as heads were starting to turn now. "Y/N! will you stop rocking that damn table" the teacher snapped at me. I grabbed my bag in a panic and got up from my table running out of the classroom.

I could feel a bigger reaction coming from all the stress from that situation. my eyes darted around, in a Minet everyone would be coming out of their form classes. My eyes landed on the locker rooms which I assumed were going to be empty. I ran towards them and just as the door closed behind me a large wave of energy forced itself out of me.

All the locker doors swung open and slammed shut again. I looked around the room painting, feeling relived it was over. until three faces appeared round the other side of the lockers. My heart pounded against my chest, id done it now- exposed myself. I grabbed the door handle planning to leave school and go home.

"Wait!" one of the girls yelled out, throwing herself towards me "You must be y/n" she called out with a sympathetic smile on her face. "Please- don't tell anyone" I swallowed, tears began swimming in my eyes. It was too late now. This answer was going to dictate the rest of my life. "We aren't going to" the ginger girl shook her head vigorously. "You must be spikes girlfriend huh?" the blonde one smiled, nodding at a seat trying to make me feel more comfortable.

"D- do you know Spike?" I asked her stuttering for the fear of the power they held over me in this moment. I began to walk closer to them and they all sat down on the bench. "We all know Spike" the other girl nodded her head. "Im Buffy" the blonde girl stuck her hand out towards me. "I'm willow" the ginger one waved making me feel a lot better about the situation. I turned to the other one who just blinked at me.

"Surely you know who I am" she laughed shaking her head, I stayed quite not having a clue what her name was. "That's Cordelia" Buffy rolled her eyes making me smile a little. "Seriously? you don't know my name?" she questioned, genuinely baffled that I didn't know her. "Oh well- I know it now" I nodded once but she still looked highly offended. "Spike came to us this morning and asked for our help- we're going to help you control whatever powers you have developed".

"How?" I wondered, twiddling my fingers together awkwardly. In that second my hair started floating all around my face unnaturally. I at first thought I was doing it but I then saw Willows hand twitching my her hip. "I'm a witch" she smiled enthusiastically at me. "Oh- i'm not a witch Spike said so" "No you're not- but i'm a slayer and together as a group we have quite a lot of knowledge on the supernatural- im sure we can figure it out" Buffy smiled at me sweetly.

I nodded and matched her smile feeling a whole lot better about the situation. "Why don't you stick with us today- then after school we can call Spike and get everything sorted out" Buffy offered with a hug of her shoulders. "Why are you being so nice? why are you helping?" I questioned, overthinking their kindness. "Well it is my job" Buffy chuckled.

"And Spike asked us as a friend to help you so... not that I would ever admit that to him" "your relationship sounds- complicated" I laughed behind my hand. "You can say that again" Buffy joined in nodding her head. And so that's what I did, I hung out with Buffy, Willow and Cordelia the whole day. At lunch time I met Xander and Giles, and I realised that they had a pretty solid group. They shared stories about all the things they had done and I left the conversation having high admiration for them and especially Buffy.

I didn't have another episode the whole day because I spent most of it not even thinking about my powers but about my new friends. They made me laugh all day, smile all day. And completely take my mind off the fact my world was crashing down around me. After school I went out to Spikes car, where he was waiting for me in the same spot he dropped me off. "Wheres your stuff?" he questioned looking slightly confused.

"In the library" I told him waiting for him to catch on. Spike took a second but then looked to me worriedly. "It's okay" I laughed at his facial expression. "You're not in trouble". Spike got out of the car and came round my side. "I'm sorry" "don't be sorry" I giggled as he pulled me into a hug.
