bugnoir redesign

i originally posted this in my sideblog but i’ve decided to keep everything in my main blog

I’m starting to work on a darker miraculous ladybug comic and I’m planning on making things much more serious (what mlb could be if it weren’t a kid’s show).

In that universe, ladybug and her team would all be around 18-21 and probably attending university cause that way I feel like I could be able to explore more mature themes instead of sticking to teenage things. Ladybug herself would be 18 because I still want to keep the motif of Marinette having to deal with so much stuff at a young age.

Anyway, about the redesign:

I believe that Bugnoir's suit would have a rather offensive design instead of defensive (at least in this darker universe), hence why I made the sturdier areas of the suit cover her limbs instead of her chest and the rest of her vital organs.

Her battle with Gabriel would most likely be her toughest battle to date, and Marinette would be filled with rage after finding out his identity. I think she would be less concerned about his survival, even though he's Adrien's father, and more focused on defeating him.

Because of that, Bugnoir needed to be able to land kicks and punches without bruising herself too much. She also needed to move quickly and dodge Gabriel's attacks, or run fast in case she needed to escape, which is why her suit prioritizes a fighting style with speed and aggressiveness rather than a tank style.

Bugnoir would incorporate some kickboxing moves into her fighting style, as well as slashes because her claws would be razor-sharp.

ok there MAY come a day where i want to revisit this but for NOW im happy with the results. One Bug Noire served normal style, and a side dish of color swap with Gimmi's colors. Idk man the canon design's hair was just wack and that was my driving force.

I just realized I never posted my art for the @miracu10us zine! I did a poster for the specials with the leading ladies from each one. I really enjoyed the rendering for this one!

Trying to figure out how I would redesign her fusion look. Trying to walk the line between being pretty complex but not too busy. Like there needs to be enough going on to show off both miraculous and show that tho is a very powerful combination but it could easily get hard to read. Thoughts?
