🐝📱 rambling about my bugphone! :3
(I use we and I interchangeably a lot here sorry)
My bugphone she is a Motorola G Stylus 2025 and she's awesome.
Her specs:
- aux port!!!!!
- android OS
- USB-C fast charging
- OLED screen
- microSD card slot for 1TB of data (though some people on reddit claim it works with a 2TB card)
- better battery than my old phone
- And as a bonus! a stylus with a hole to slide in and out of like a DS
I had to do a TON of settings optimization and debloating when I first got it. Downloaded an apk of Firefox (that i had put on discord) so I could delete Chrome. Then I got the Aurora Store and F-Droid and I try to use those for all my apps unless I am forced to use Google Play. Which I am keeping around..
Anywho, we (Vee) tried doing a debloat with the ADB terminal and a USB connected to the phone and nearly bricked it. Um. Had to do a factory reset.
Then I found a better way to do that. There is an app called Canta that shows you every program installed on your device, gives you a little blurb about what it's for, and has labels telling you which programs are safe and unsafe to delete. Then it uses Shizuku to magically trick your phone into thinking USB debugging is happening to remove the apps! Just a ton of spyware btw. Like a ton. Crazy telemetry on these phones. Stuff from meta??? I don't even use meta apps???
And then I got the Nova Launcher for customization and gave everything a buggle theme :3
App tourrrr so music is the most important thing obviously. And the aux cable lets you plug in GOOD headphones for awesome music quality. i also download all my songs locally for increased quality. i plugged my youtube playlist into an App called Seal that downloaded them all as m4a's with thumbnails and lyrics if they were available. Then I put them in the Poweramp app which is a super awesome player that can display those lyrics and thumbnails plus it has playlists and an equalizer. Then for missing lyrics, I used SongSync to embed the lyrics metadata to each song. Still in the process of doing that. The result is phenomenal audio quality all offline! With lyrics and thumbnails!
Miscellaneous apps:
- Bearable for health and symptom tracking (We pay a yearly subscription for this)
- discord for messages and transferring stuff between our old and new phone (we tried Fluxer but it was down for several days a while ago and that turned us off of it)
- we got apps designed to be like the iOS Calendar and Notes app bc it's what we're used to
- Firefox with uBlock Origin and sponsorblock (which doubles as YouTube!) for a browser
- ibispaint for drawing
Leaving the boring optimization settings at the bottom:
- disabled "tap with three fingers to screenshot" (it is always listening for a screenshot tap, which makes all your taps lag)
- in developer options (many of these options are found there) forced the refresh rate to stay at 120hz. uses more battery but it is crisp
- changed the window, transition, and animator duration scale to 0.5x (snappier response)
- disabled most gestures
- turned off wifi and bluetooth scanning to preserve battery (also enabled wifi scan throttling)
- turned off all sounds, ringing, and vibration because they scare me
- turned off every stylus feature except the one where you can take notes on the lock screen
- disabled most apps from running in the background to preserve battery
- disabled Nova Launcher animations to preserve battery
- used the DNS settings for adblocking
There were a lot of things planned for the phone that we didn't end up doing (rooting, flashing custom ROM, finding a different keyboard) but most of them aren't worth the effort.
And uhh yeah that's it I love her 🥰🥰🥰
