Watching Grian get jumpscared at the sight of Goth Ghost Pearl through the Lighthouse window was very funny. It's even funnier when you realize he wasn't scared because he was surprised by a new and creepy Pearl look. On the contrary, this is a look he has absolutely seen on Pearl before: this is her Standing In Judgment costume.

Observe this screenshot, painstakingly harvested from Grian and Mumbo's second Build Swap video, long before either Grian or Pearl joined Hermitcraft and well before Grian learned the fine art of holding a camera angle.

In this video, Pearl oversaw a competition in which Grian did a very strange-looking build, then a terrible job building a cannon and lost handily to Mumbo while the judges provided light mockery in the background. Deep in his heart of hearts, Grian saw this outfit, saw Pearl standing in the Weird Lighthouse and knew his time of judgement was at hand.

(It probably is, but Mumbo's not here this week to win by default when Grian blows himself up, so it'll have to wait.)

OK this may be in a weird order

I think Pearl is at least partially Watcher. When I was watching EVO as it was coming out, I was convinced the clay-winged angel statue that ended up putting obsidian over Grian's chests was made by Pearl. The only thing that made me question that is when Pearl joined Evo.

HOWEVER, Grian only became a Watcher when he left Evo, so that means there was a chance Pearl was a Watcher who became normal upon joining.

When Grian left Evo, we saw that there were 2 watchers other than him, and I started thinking "OK, who has shown up on Grian's channel a lot but wasn't in Evo", and I thought of the Build Swap judges, DomRao and either JTheStar or RowenArtifex.

In Build Swap, there's a joke that the judges cannot count. So I started headcanoning that Watchers cannot count.

Then I remembered: Pearl was also a judge of Build Swap before, and in Limited Life when Martyn asked her to count to 10, she didn't do it correctly.

Pearl has some lingering Watcher traits, including the inability to count.
