I created this sculpture of a shop decorated for Halloween to use as a reference for a painting.

Last year, I wanted to create a painting featuring a storefront decorated for Halloween, so I went in search of a reference photo location. However, I was disappointed to find that none of the shops in my nearby town had decorated for it. I was feeling a little let down because, living in the area back in the 90's, I can remember many of the shops being decorated. I decided to build my own reference and decorate it, using upcycled materials and clay. It is part clay sculpture and part junk sculpture. I purchased some remote-operated lights to give it a special effect. I created the majority of it with things I already had around; really only buying lights, clay, glue, and paint.

I began the sculpture in March, and I'm currently working on the painting. I am excited to share it!

This week, on my way to pick up art supplies, I noticed a few of the shops have decorated for Halloween this year, and it made my day!

Zaha Hadid Architects models expansion of Beijing exhibition centre on traditional Chinese architecture

A striped roofscape that takes cues from tiled roofs in traditional Chinese architecture will characterise Zaha Hadid Architects' expansion of the International Exhibition Centre in Beijing.

The extension of the centre, located in the Shunyi District, will contain exhibition halls, a conference venue and a hotel, all arranged around a string of courtyards.

Vallejo Matt Varnish.

This was a bit of an impulse buy, but it's definitely not one I regret. It's made the overall finish of my models look great. I've used it on my M-41, T-34 76 and Su-85. I used microset and microl sol for my decals, which gave them a painted on look, however this completely sealed it and really gave the decals the painted look. It also helps preserve the colors. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone. So far I've only used the Matt Varnish, however others such as gloss are available. I brush painted mine on, but I've also read that it can be sprayed on as well.

After Japan's disarmament in the aftermath of World War Two, Japan was rearmed with the help of the United States in case of Soviet aggression. The JSDF was established in 1954. The M-41 along with other tanks, aircraft and weapons was supplied to the Japanese.
