Moving Past H8
in the quiet morning after the storm standing with eyes open to the new dawn seeing each other in the soft light faces worn from a long war of shouting we poets have the words to heal our hands are enough to lift what has fallen
here we are asked remember kindness open the places we closed in fear let it be the small acts that build again in the calm and steady way of love where blame and anger once weighed heavy we clear the air with gentle patience
you are no stranger to me only human and i, like you, am flawed and yearning to be whole to find peace inside though the path was different the goal is the same a land where we walk without shadows of judgment where forgiveness grows like a quiet river
today we choose to listen past voices of division to listen as trees do slow and steady accepting every wind without breaking apart may we stand rooted offering shade to each other may we mend our wounds without needing absolute agreement only the shared understanding of our need to belong
we turn from the echoes of bitterness and rage toward a place where dignity has room to breathe in the silence in the spaces we choose to leave open may we find the courage to forgive each fault not as saints but as seekers of a shared light each step a humble act of building ...forward
**Kevin's Note: I'd like to start a prompt (I know, I've never done a prompt before) where we poets put aside our differences and share a poem, or a story, of hope, forgiveness, and love for every single human being. Let's shower this space with positive energy and hopefully save someone today** Post all your pieces and use the hashtag #buildingforward
Love you all...mean it.
