I’ve been in a terrible mood these past few days so this entry is honestly just me doing a lot of complaining.

I’ve been reading the Hades X Persephone series by Scarlett St. Clair, both Persephone’s and Hades’. And I’ve been continuing to watch Critical Role campaign two, I’m currently on episode 27.

Just a quick entry talking about bills, taxes, and my current book. So exciting lol.

But anyway, I haven’t had a laptop in like five years and I desperately want a new one so I can play Sims again. And also write, or just waste time on Neopets.

And I can’t decide what to read next. Do I read something new (Crescent City) or do I read something I’ve already read before but I really want to read again (either Anita Blake or Sookie Stackhouse). I think my current book is the last in the Blood Grace series so I’ll have to pick something soon.

Old Journal versus New Journal

I didn’t finish the bookshelf section in the old journal but I decided to retire it anyway since I only had maybe five pages left, and I’d like to do a new set up of just writing the books down in my normal entries.

My new journal is a dotted grid RETTACY in a smaller size than I used to get from them. The pages are almost glossy smooth and I’m not sure how I feel about that yet, but I definitely prefer the guidelines for my entries and the smaller size.

My January calendar is a little wonky looking but it came out better than I thought it would. The first pages of a new journal always looks like a dud to me anyway lol.

I’m a solid week behind because I had to wait for the new journal to be shipped to me. And also because I didn’t order the new one until the third but whatever, we’ll blame long shipping times.

January 9th, 2023

My brother is supposed to get leave from the military next month but he was recently offered a career opportunity that doesn’t come around very often. He’s debating not taking it though, because he really wants to come home.

I miss him, and I think he’s suffering mentally from the extended stay away from family. Us three siblings grew up with our entire family all in the same 30 mile radius. All but one aunt/uncle lived in the very same county. We get together every Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter/Fourth of July, we have bbqs on Memorial Day by the pool, game nights in the winter, bonfire nights in the fall, and we used to vacation to a beach every summer (not anymore, we’re all too poor now). It’s a huge change for him to suddenly live across the entire country. He’s about 2,000 miles away, and I think he vastly underestimated how hard this was going to be when he enlisted.
