Another two bald patches spotted in 'Bukit Botak'
GEORGE TOWN, Nov 10, 2014:
Another two visible bald patches in Bukit Relau have caused a state assemblyman to question whether they have been cleared to make way for development.
Shariful Azhar Othman (BN- Bertam) accused the Penang DAP government of being ignorant of such matters.
He said it was not possible for DAP to deny as investigations had shown that there had been two new bald patches atop the hill, now dubbed “Bukit Botak” besides the existing ones.
He substantiated his claim by showing a photograph of the place where he claimed there used to be only one bald patch.
“The developer has been charged in court, but it does not seem to have served as a deterrent to the developer and residents there have been living in fear.
“The state government appears to be nonchalant on the issue as only five per cent of remedial works have been carried out in a span of six months despite me having proposed ways to remedy the land there that has been cleared, ” he told a press conference at the State Legislative Assembly here today.
Shariful Azhar said if the area was to be left without remedial works, he feared there could be mud slides occurring in the area as had had taken place in Cameron Highlands.
He said the trend that had been plaguing Cameron Highlands was now happening in Penang and the recent flash floods served as a warning sign which could claim lives.
“In the past, there was only one bald patch, but now there are three.
“Even if it rains only for a while in Penang, there are many areas that are flooded which were never flooded before.”
RSN Rayer ( DAP-Seri Delima) agreed with Shariful Azhar on the issue of floods and admitted that many places had been affected by floods since 2008.
He said many areas were not spared from flash floods compared with only Dato Kramat in the past
Meanwhile, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow acknowledged the matter raised by Shariful Azhar and said that there had been agricultural activities there.
He said checks had been carried out by the municipal council and they would be carrying out constant monitoring of the area.

Kali ni mood malas aku masih lagi bermahajaraja lela jadi aku malas nak cerita pengalaman kami mendaki Gunung…
