It would start with Toby crossing path’s with them while both are on the way home from work.
It wasn’t unusual for them to smile at strangers; but it was, however, very rare for anyone to even notice Toby. He liked to blend in with the crowd.
So, when they flashed a polite smile at the brunette, his world stopped. From then on he would dedicate all of his free time into learning their schedule, their friends, their family, their interests, their home location, anything he’d be able to get his hands on.
He took it to the streets to possibly see you again. He’d go as far as waiting all day, not having the ability to be bothered by the cold weather.
He’ll stand there each day, maybe even taking a risk and following them for a few minutes to observe how they walk and act.
He would gather small tokens of theirs, ranging from their favorite candy wrapper that fell stray out of their pocket or a prized hairbrush that they have searched everywhere for.
After a while he’d gather up the courage to pretend to ask for directions in the morning, using the address for their work as bait. And, of course, they offer to walk him there since they were already on their way.
He’ll stare at them the entire time, to which the kind future s/o will pretend not to notice.
Toby would do this every day until it became a routine. A suspicious routine. His future s/o will catch on to this quickly, and realize this guy is probably stalking them. A secret admirer of sorts, perhaps?
But when their workplace changes their schedule, Toby will be sent into a hasty panic.
That’s when he’ll start asking Masky and Hoody subtle advice about rope tying, abandoned locations, y’know, things you would normally talk about in a casual setting.
He performed his aggressive approach well, thinking that you’ve been avoiding him on purpose. But he would be careful all the same. A few bruises never hurt anyone right? Not that he would know, of course.
He got his hands on some fancy-looking syringes that he thought would do the trick from a ‘friend’. He didn’t waste any time, and regretfully let the first time he touched his future s/o turn into them being limp in his arms.
He spent the night watching and waiting. Sparks would fly in Toby’s stomach with each soft twitch in their forced slumber.
But when they woke up and didn’t freak out that they were just capture by a murderer, his excitement turned into suspicion. But, alas, give the boy a little praise and he’ll gladly let them out of the poorly tied ropes.
But once the poorly tied ropes are on the floor, don’t expect to leave his side anytime soon.
He’ll constantly have a hold of them, whether it’s a casual arm draped around their waist, or twitchy, intertwined fingers, they will rarely be seen a healthy distance away from their s/o.
Toby will keep the doors locked while he’s away at work, but he will trust them enough while he’s at home not to try anything. (Even if his s/o has tried convincing him countless times they will never leave him).
He second doubts himself constantly, just patiently waiting for the night that his s/o will try to escape his grasp. Sometimes he’ll bait them by leaving a window open, or ‘accidentally’ leaving the front door ajar. His s/o will only close the source of the new draft and return to their reassured, yet confused lover.
He’d maybe go as far as giving them a tracking bracelet, but that’s only if they’ve been acting up recently. How would his s/o act up? Refusing cuddles, raising their voice, acting secretive, anything that would set off any red flags to Toby.
Most of his free time will be spent with his s/o, either cuddling, kissing, watching movies, or perhaps talking about something new at work.
They’ll soothe him through the rough course of nightmares and constantly check over his body for new cuts or bruises that needed to be tended to.
Toby never felt so cared for, so calm, so…warm.
And vice versa, for that matter. Toby will dedicate himself to make sure his s/o is happy a safe (as long as the situation calls for it).
However, he will not feel guilty if he has to deprive his s/o of some wants and needs. They deserved it, of course. Not that he won’t give them back after some begging though.
He also won’t hesitate to kill any family members, friends or co-workers that would be searching for you.
Nothing will get in between them as long as his hands are attached to his body.
