BRUISING FLESH / VILE  WORDS  ;   a  victim  and  those  claiming  to  be.   Coach  just   kicked  them  off,   demeaning  them  as  a   mass  of  heathens.  A  booming  voice  drowned  LIES  coming  from  every  mouth ,  every  explanation ;   he  didn’t  care  for  detentions ,  just  for  them  out  of  the  pool  room.  WHAT IS GOING OUT HERE ?      doesn’t  sound  rhetorical  and  makes  a  group  of  THREE ON ONE  boys  snap  their  heads  with  wide  eyes  in  the  parkinglot.   Your  mouth  is  soaked  in  ready  venom,   heart  pounding  and  hair  a  disarray,   yet  even  in  temperament,  your  face  remains  DRAINED. (  WHAT  THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? )  - - -  three on one ;   you  should  start  keeping  your  mouth  shut  and  take  words  over  action ;  but  it  never worked out that way.    But  this?  you’d  rather  bleed  than  what  they  were  trying  to  do  in  the  school’s  pool  room.    The  water  was  right  there.   A  FATE  was  right  there  had  it  not  been  stopped.  Still - - -  you  wonder  if  they  were  planning  on  going  through  with  it,  or  it  was  just  a  haze.  THEY’RE LAUGHING NOW ,   teasing  him  even  though  one  kid’s  being  held  back ;  the  one  your  eyes  were  darting  to - - -  wise  to  keep  an  eye  on  rabid dogs,   after  all.  (   he  ,  if  anyone,   looked  ready  to  actually  throw  you  in  ).    But  there’s  new  company   - - -  a  girl  out of place  with  nothing  to  do  with  this.

You  look   from   these  assholes  to  her,   shrug,  avert  your  eyes.  Easy  enough.
