The Moon God Buggy AU cover art is finally done holy SHIT.

I don't know how I pulled it off, but I managed to get the "Sistine Chapel" look I was going for too. I never fucking wanna have to do it again tho.

Alright, now that I've cleansed my rotting, stress soaked brain and the grieving period has moved into its anger stage, it's time to get back to commissions.

I think coloring some submissive men sucking fingers will do my soul good rn.

Have some highlights (aka some of my favorite details in the piece)

1. Luffy's scar represented as star shaped markings on Nika's cheek.

2. Nika's arm cuff, inspired by the map he gives Buggy in Impel Down.

3. Nika's outfit loosely inspired by Luffy's Gear 5 first appearance outfit.

4. Buggy's body hair. (Djkskdkskdjej)

5. Their shoes - Nika's loosely inspired by pre-columbian mesoamerican cactles (obviously with some fantasy liberties taken) and Luffy's usual chanclas, and Buggy's inspired by his original poulaine style footwear.

6. Buggy's obi and dressings inspired from Buggy's Matsuri design on the vol 8 can badge button pin from 2015 (?)

Didn't get as much done for cool down as I wanted to, but trying to make hair look like it was haphazardly cut is more time consuming than I thought.

I won't lie, I spent more time on cool down than was originally intended...which pretty much defeats the purpose of cool down, but I got into the groove, so....

Sue me.

I spent like almost 6 hours drawing tonight, 4 of which were on comms. Almost an extra hour on cool down is fine. As a treat.

Moon God Buggy AU quick sketch

I'm working on Comms rn so I won't be able to actually finish this for a little while, but I had to get out the idea while it was fresh.

Once I have these couple of commissions done, I'll add the clothes and other details to this, line it up, and try to color it.

Inspo for this was "Half Life" by Livingston

The con where I went around dressed as Impel Down Buggy calling every piece of Gear 5 Luffy art/merch my husband because my actual husband was standing right there next to me in all of his Gear 5 Luffy glory, being my actual husband.

Good times.

Favorite Bluffy artist wants a lore drop? A lore drop they shall have

In this AU, Buggy's Godly power is imbued unto his golden hair (See Stampede for example), because it represents the rays of light that illuminate the moon. Because of this, his power has always been tied to the presence of the Sun and this drives the greedy God to desire and pursue more power. To assist him in this venture, the Moon forms the Stars - his loyal subjects and army - to help acquire it for him.

Now, the Moon God does eventually meet Nika himself, and despite his initial disdain for the Sun God being the true root of his own power, and his jealousy of the other God, he eventually falls deeply in love with the playful and chaotic spirit of the Sun. Through this union, they create a new world full of followers...much to the dismay of the Moon's former soldiers, who believe themselves to be the true and superior successors of the Moon God.

The kicker? Despite Moon God Buggy having the Chop Chop powers just like Nika's body still has the property of rubber, cutting his hair would strip him of any and all the powers he actually did have. This includes, but is not limited to his immortality.

Long story short, one of the begrudged former followers traps the God by grabbing his precious locks. This leads to the Moon God having to sacrifice his own power to escape and protect the new world and its people he so lovingly created with his shining Sun God by chopping off his hair.

Eventually, Nika finds the Moon, now made mortal by his own creation, and is heartbroken. He knows that eventually, the Moon will die without the golden rays that illuminate his crown with divine light. So, Nika plucks a cloud from his own head and carefully weaves it onto what's left of the Moon's ruined mane, turning it to the same brilliant blue as the sky on a clear, sunny day.

This act renders them both equal in power, but still technically mortal - and for Nika's gift of love, the Moon vows that their lives will too remain woven together for eternity, just as Nika has woven back his hair.

There's like, a whole bunch of nuance and even more stuff in the Stars and who they are, but like...I will ramble forever if I don't subdue myself.
