I haven't been a big fan of the Riddler, but you peeps are seriously making me take a second look. Is this part of your evil plan?
Short answer: yes
Long(ish) answer: the Riddler is the hugest dork in the long list of Batman Rogues and he’s fueled by bitter sarcasm and smartassery and that’s pretty relatable to me dawg. You get all these tragic, demented backstories for everybody else, but this random dude just decided “hey, maybe prancing around in a green jump suit and tossing out brain teasers to a man in a bat suit as a means to commit crime could be fun, i mean it beats sudoku i guess”
The only “serious” Riddles that works for me is BTAS (in TV canon but especially in comic canon) because yeah he gets to be all cool and semi omnipotent but he’s also just this big nerd
this is not the face of a winner
and then in the btas comics he becomes this chaotic good guy which is great and ultimately I think the best place for him and I need more of that
look at that he made dinner for his friend
Basically Riddler is the best/worst because he’s trash, a whiney baby, and it’s funny
Also the modern interpretations of Joker totally ripped off 60s Riddler’s shtick and that’ll never change and that bothers me
