I’ve never really spoken out about this so…
As an autistic person, I want to wish all my fellow autistic creators and bloggers a happy autism awareness month! and for everyone to remember:
•autism is a spectrum
•autistic people come in a VARIETY of different shapes, colors, and ways of thinking
•autism speaks is a HATE group
•light it up blue is based off a very hurtful and SEXIST STIGMA
•autistic people can have underlying mental illnesses and they AREN’T making it up
•stimming isn’t always arm flapping
•not all autistic people stim, and you don't have to be autistic to stim
•not all autistic people are born mute and are “awkward”
•but some don’t speak and stick to themselves, which is okay, and shouldn’t be viewed as AWKWARD or SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE
•LGBTQ+ autistic people EXIST
•all autistic people are LOVED and VALID
