“Hey now, lil’ lady, that looks like too much fer lil’ ol’ you t’be carryin. Lemme help ya out.” Butch offers and before she can accept, he steps in anyway, relieving her full arms of the weight of the farming materials she was toting around. Whether she could handle it or not was irrelevant; what kind of man would he be if he turned a blind eye to a woman in need? Besides, they were fragile.

“Where we headed?”

"Um... I'm sorry, you're kind of freaking me out a little bit..."

“You should be freaked out.” The detective states rather intensely, normally brown eyes swallowed by shades of swirling pink and purple. They’re glowing in an almost unnatural way.

“Someone close to you is in danger! I can see it now. You must have a family member—or someone as close as family—with an enemy who wants them dead. I’m right, aren’t I? We need to act right away!”

"Hi! Hahah, gosh, you're hard to find out here, huh? Uhm, I hope this isn't a bad time-- I just wanted to drop by and see how you were doing!" For Mack, please!

He looks down at the young woman who has approached his home and had the courage to knock on his door. He recognizes her. One of those youngins that came out to this area of the woods before on some 'investigation' tomfoolery. They'd left him be after giving him a way to get in contact after finding out he was the one people were griping about. So why the hell did she come back?

"....Y'can come in, I suppose. But I ain't got nothin' t'offer." He rumbles, and steps back to allow her entry. It wouldn't be proper to send her on her way after all that trouble. She was one of his own, after all, and she didn't look like one to cause trouble. But once she'd had her little check in, he'd send her on her way.

"Hi! Uhm, I'm Bonnie, I have the plot south of yours? I thought it might be good to introduce myself since I'll be wandering this way to get into town a lot! Wanted to make a good first impression, you know?" She's standing a little bit away, holding what looks like a pie.

Artair looks up from where they'd been breaking down one of the larger boulders on their farm, face and shoulders sweaty with exertion. They raise their shirt to dab at their face a few times as Bonnie approaches them, pick-axe thudding into wild grass.

When the fabric lowers, there's a smile on their face. "Well Bonnie, it's a pleasure to meet you more in person than the last time." She'd practically been shaking in her boots the first time they'd seen her, when the whole group of farmhands had set up the land parcels. She hadn't said a peep and looked about ready to pass out the whole time, settling for the most out of the way plot she could get.

Artair offers her a little bow, so as not to bother her or her pie with a handshake. "Any time you need, you're free to pass through. It won't bother me at all. I might even say hi if I get the chance~." There they go, offering her another little wink with his easy-going grin.

Everybody Wants to be a Cat

Artair is fine navigating Cadence on his own. He's lived here all his life, after all. He knows the areas that are safe, the people who he should avoid because of their allergies, and who might slip him a little food should his kitty body require it.

But one thing he's not prepared for is some of the newer tenants at the apartments. He's weaving around to start stepping onto the fire escape when a loud noise startles him, fluffing him out considerably. A woman with blue hair is staring at him through the first floor window, her hand's planted on the glass pane, and she is looking--- very directly at him. His tail twitches and his ears flick.

"Hey, Opal! I added some stickers to the bat you gave me, isn't it cute?" Her smile is sheepish as she shows the weapon off, holding it up in open palmed hands as if she were promising the other her sword. It's got glittery and holographic stickers all over it, ones of colorful hearts and stars and bunnies. There's even a newly taped grip, pink and blue stripes in a swirl. "I wanted to ask though, if you've got the time-- I was wondering when you swing it, and it gets stuck in something, what's the best way to get it unstuck?"

Opal takes it from her offered hands, and gives it a good rotation in her palm to see the added decoration. "Awwww sugar, this is pretty as a present! Though ah'd refrain from puttin' any of yer favorites on here. Hard to get the blood off 'less ya spring for the vinyl stickers." She pats the barrel against her other hand." An' it depends on what yer aimin' for, I reckon! I personally like strippin' the meat off the bone when I swing, so i go for one of these." She took the bat and swung it hard away from them both, and then mimed it getting stuck. Her shoe came down on the empty space below as she pulled in kind of a chopping motion at a downwards angle, as if ripping the bat free of something.

"Definitely an immobolizin' kind'f force. But if you ain't keen t' be the one doin' the most damage, I recommend a bit'f rotation. Get that thing pressin' right back down where it buried and most times it'll pop the sucker right back out." She beams at her, holding the bat out with both hands, like a monarch bestowing a weapon now. "I could show ya, if y'like. A bit more in a hands-on kinda way...~?"

“Mm--” Trying new foods was scary, for many reasons. Lesser so is the fear of trying something that'd be awful when compared to the fear of trying something, not liking it, and doing something like gagging. Just like the egg… “Okay! It smells pretty good, at least. What's the texture like?”

Alyx took a bite from the cooled plate, leaning over to snag a piece from where he was seated on a chair in front of the stove. The bite he took was slow, appraising. "Hmmm..."

He swallowed and clicked his tongue. "Okay, I thiiink you'll like it? The cheese inside is pretty good, and the texture is kinda soft. A little gritty? Kinda like-- I dunno, an english muffin, but with less chewiness? Or like grits, but less wet? Somewhere in there, I'd say."
