American Kestrel (Falco sparverius)
Live Subject Bird Drawings 2023-2024
1st: "Belle" the Sparrow Hawk and "Emma" the siberian Uhu, 16.7.2023.
Drawn during the park festival at my local animal/bird park. Both birds belonged to that years "special guest", the falconry @falknereibirdsofprey (Instagram). Both drawings are a bit biger than a 2 euro coin. Coloring them was... a challenge, becouse I used my watercolor pencils, but forgot my brush at home, so I had to use my finger and a tissue to add water xD Not...ideal, for something so smal xD But hey, it worked out in the end! :3
2nd: Flamingo, 16.5.2024. Red Ibis, 20.5.2024.
Went to Luisenpark Mannheim (Germany) with a friend on those two days. While he was eating dinner, I took the time and practiced some live-subject drawing by doodeling the flamingo across the river the Restaurant was situated at.
On the secound visit I drew a red ibis! They are verry cute, my drawing does not do them any justice xD
3rd: Grey Dward Quail, 23.6.2024.
Yesterday was this years park festival at my local animal/bird park. Sadly, they didn't have a falkner this year, so instead I drew one of the rgular birds in the park, which is also one of my favorites: tiny grey Drawf Quails! :3
Gotta say, the tiny guys where suprisingly hard to draw! They basically just look like tiny fluff balls made of feathers, so I had a pretty hard time figuring out their anatomy xD But I'm ultimately quiet happy with how this tiny drawing turned out! ^^
