Helena "Ixhel" Beatriz - Burning Valleys
Okay, I got obsessed over this small project lately and decided to post about my OC here too, just because.
The project is @burningvalleys , go check it if you can! More info on Ixhel below.
Her lore is still under construction. I'm making her my hellsona, so to speak, and I want to work her lore a bit more thoroughly than I've worked on her Hazbin counterpart. But you can read some trivia I have on her below!
Helena was sentenced to afterlife in Burning Valleys. Having her form torn into a dark scorpion-like form with obsidian horns and a sharp edged tail, she spent a good bunch of years in the labyrinth working all of her outbursts of suppressed anger and sorrow with her own Panopticon as company, to the point where she stopped thinking of it as a babysitter and started seeing the small creature as a friend.
Afterlife
Upon recovery from her violent behavior, she now became a depressed and skittish person. Avoidant and hurt, she doesn't believe Lionard at first when he guides her to the village, and her only request is to keep the Panopticon that helped her.
Trivia
Helena presents herself as "Ixhel" to others. It's a name her mother thought of giving her, but ultimately opted for Helena, since "Ixhel" is nothing common in the country they're from. Lionard still calls her Helena, and she doesn't mind it.
Ixhel was brought in by a hellborn named Chase, a goat-resembling genderfluid AMAB drag queen who performs every now and then and has his own clothes business in the village. He takes Lionard's example on helping and being kind and acts very seriously on it, and is quite respected for that.
Ixhel is BPD and has heavy PTSD ever since she was a little kid, but only realized during her years in the labyrinth. She was also diagnosed as ADHD and Autistic in life.
She doesn't believe in humanity anymore, and thinks Lionard shouldn't waste time on her or in the remaining living, but never says the latter out loud, because she still admires his hope despite denying it to herself, and doesn't want him to become as devoid of light as she is.
Chase knows Ixhel's soft sarcasm and mildly skittish behavior about Lionard comes from a crush she has on him and always teases her about it. She always denies. Even if she were to admit it one day, she'd never act on it because she thinks lowly of herself in comparison to him and believes she's not worth the effort, especially with him.
Ixhel's dream was to become a singer. Chase hears her singing around the house when she thinks she's alone, and insists she should perform with him one day, but she's too afraid of rejection to do it, despite singing beautifully.
She's used to psychoanalyzing people around her since it's what her job was going to be, like it's a sixth sense. She takes note of certain behaviors and keeps it to herself in a kind of study diary.
She's very fond of sweets and baking, and Chase loves eating leftovers from her cooking.
Ixhel believes she shouldn't have been shown any compassion for what she did, even though understanding she was a victim. In dreary days, she stays alone in her room with only her Panopticon as company, wondering why Chase and Lionard believe she deserves to be outside the labyrinth at all. She'll sometimes make bitter jokes about how she should be in Inferius instead, and Chase always cuts her off and immediately distracts her from the self loathing by asking for help in his studio.
Ixhel is socially awkward and doesn't know how to deal with genuine kindness, since she was never shown such kindness before. She's instinctively gentle, but doesn't realize it either, since she simply always acted like that.
She was raised in a religious family that always made her feel guilty for things that weren't her fault, and it made her grow with complex feelings.
She and Chase care for a little black centipede cat-like little pet. Chase named the cat "Hibiscus".
