Burns doesn't visit. It's not really his style, Spirit tells herself. He has busy days full of doing whatever the fuck he wants, and that rarely involves caring about other people — people who miss him, and worry about him, and want him, inexplicably, in their lives. It's quite sad.

But Xeno is, apparently, not too occupied for Xeno. Not too occupied to show up exactly when he needs something from her. Even looking at Xeno and Burns through the distorted fish eye in her front door, she can tell they're only here out of desperation.

"Xeno." Her mouth is slanted, her foot tapping impatiently. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

what was shu execution like?

This doesn’t really show it off very well, but Shuichi’s execution in the au is called “Escape room”

He’s trapped in a room with a clock counting down from 1 hour, and has to figure out the various puzzles to unlock the door and escape.

He was told before his execution that there is in fact a way to escape and if he fails both Kokichi and Kaito will die, and then so will maki for having technically killed them both.

(Ko and Kai survived by sharing the antidote, and staged the press with fake blood, unfortunately that means the poison was only slowed for both of them rather than one being cured)

While if it were just the puzzles Shuichi would have probably solved them with relative ease, unfortunately Monokuma is never fair and executions are meant to be painful

At the start the puzzles really are just normal puzzles but the more he solves the more dangerous they get. Starting with things like spikes shooting out of something he’s trying to grab on to, which is rather easy to avoid if you pay attention (which after the first time he does)

But they become more and more painful/unfair. It starts when shuichi goes to stick his hands into a hole he needs to put a combination into and fire shoots out of it. Shuichi by this point expecting the trap pulls his hands out before any harm comes to him…

It doesn’t stop, putting in this combination is absolutely necessary to get to the next step, so he has to stick his hands in flames long enough to set the numbers in to continue.

The traps continue on like this, forcing shuichi to walk while a metal pole coursing with electricity is sticking through his leg, all the way to the end of a small hallway.

Releasing a thin amount of poison gas that filters through the room for the entire rest of the punishment, which makes Shuichi woozy, weak and sick

He has to walk over nails to reach one area, and while on the way in he manages to distribute his weight as to not hurt himself, as soon as he gets what he needs a metal sheet starts closing over the exit to the area and he has to launch his body under the door to make it out in time, which means his entire front half gets raked over sharp nails. 

These are only some examples of the traps set in the room. But in the end Shuichi manages to unlock the door opening it to find…

A massive spike pit, and no exit in sight. So now Shuichi has two choices, jump out of the house and die to the spikes or stay in the house until it explodes killing him.

So how does he survive?

The Painter and the Demon

CW: Captivity, torture, burns.

The Painter stepped into the room with a glass jug of water in hand and the Demon watched with a furious scowl as the human walked closer to where he was suspended from the ceiling. The Painter stopped just outside the red circle with the sigil that had been spray painted on the floor; the devil's trap that currently rendered him powerless.

"Let me go, human, and I'll show you mercy," the Demon growled. "If you don't, I'll tear out your throat and watch you choke to death on your blood when I get out of here!"

The Painter didn't seem bothered by the threats, and even though it infuriated him, the demon knew why, just as well as his captor did; as long as the devil's trap was intact there was nothing he could do. Right now, the Demon could only hope that the Painter would mess up somehow and break the sigil.

"So much beauty, for something so wicked." The Painter mused as his cold eyes wandered over the Demon's exposed chest. "You'll make a perfect canvas." He added as he stepped into the devil's trap, closer to the Demon.

"Canvas?" The Demon echoed, still angry but dread started to wash over him as he eyed the jug of water. It looked innocent enough, but regular water wouldn't do much and the Demon could guess what it was. Holy water.

The Painter ignored the question and picked up the brush and his eyes lingered on the bristles that were saturated with water. "Did you know that paint brushes made with real hair hold water better than synthetic brushes? Makes it perfect for this kind of art." Calmly, he raised the paint brush, bringing it closer to the Demon's skin.

"What-" the Demon tried to move away, but there was nowhere to go. His skin sizzled as the brush touched it, burned like fire. Worse than fire, and the demon's words turned into an agonized scream.

"Shh, this is what you deserve." The Painter said, unfazed by the screaming as he dipped the brush back into the water, then brushed a wide stroke over the Demon's chest. He screamed again as he writhed in pain. Wherever the brush touched and where the water dripped down his chest his skin turned red, charred almost.

Pain was something the Demon was accustomed to, but the burning of holy water was a particular type of pain that was hard to handle. He growled and hurled curses at the man. Oh, he had to get out of there and then he would make this human suffer for what he did.

"Calm down, you should be grateful to be given a purpose. One that pays for your sins." The Painter's voice was still calm, but the tinge of annoyance that had snuck into it gave it a hard edge.

"What?" The demon hissed, eyes narrowed in anger. "How dare you! What do you think gives you the right to-- " the Painter flicked the brush and the demon flinched and growled as small drops of holy water splashed his face.

"I have every right. Now, be quiet, demon, or I'll have you drink this." The Painter threatened, angrier now.

That shut the Demon up, but he still scowled at his captor. Ingesting the holy water would be far worse than just touching his skin. It was ironic how the human liked to act all righteous when in reality he was no better than him; he had just as much capacity for cruelty as any demon.
