To preface, not a super serious post, but I saw something that kinda made me a lil bit insecure SO,
lately I'm thinking about a possible multimuse for everyone I write ( with the exception of Peter, Peter retains his own space unless people would still interact with him as they do when he's included amongst canons ). I think part of my struggle with Tumblr atm is just that, ever since sessionbox became a paid ( and considerably worse ) product, I'm struggling with switching between accounts and thus "switching mindsets" for muses? Which leads to inactivity. Whereas if I was on a multimuse, everyone'd be in one place and it'd kind of be a "definitive edition" of everybody I write?
To clarify, the muses I write would not be changing, just their location. I'm not 100% sold on this yet because I really just don't wanna piss anyone off, y'know? I know I've been flighty with Tumblr in general lately ( nothing to do with my muses, my mental health's just been kinda crummy for a few months now and it's been hard to summon the will to write; there's also the issue of me just kinda hating everything I make lately, which is why it was such a big deal to me to show my excerpt from Discord last night: because it was the first thing in a while that I've written and thought had any sort of merit from a technical / literature perspective ) and the last thing I want is for people to be angry with me because I can't make up my mind. I guess I'm asking for potential opinions? Don't be afraid to be honest, just please don't be a dick about it. Anon is for you if you have opinions but are nervous for some reason.
I know that Tumblr isn't a job. I still have to get better about feeling guilty for not being here, but I've definitely made improvements in that regard! I'll continue building a healthy relationship with not feeling bad if I don't come online too, it's just so much better to not do that. I'm not getting paid for this shit, it's a hobby, so I shouldn't be stressing about it whenever I don't feel like doing it. I know that. BPD's just a massive bitch.
Anyways, here's the prospective muse list, compiled from every blog I've made / have. Again, the muses aren't changing, just where I'd host them would be.
Dollman ( Death Stranding )
Higgs Monaghan ( Death Stranding )
Ragatha ( TADC )

TUTORIAL: staying logged in on multiple tumblr accounts using Firefox container tabs
As rpers, we are constantly looking for ways to be logged into several different tumblr accounts at the same time. While methods like sessionbox and creating new Chrome profiles are popular, I wanted to share this third option that I’ve been using for some time now : Firefox + container tabs !!
The benefits of this method include being able to have multiple accounts open in a single window without re-logging back in and not needing to re-download xkit when you want to add a new muse. You can also have more than 10 stored containers and more than 5 open at the same time, all for free. I’ve also personally found this to be more reliable than sessionbox ( so far for me, this method has not broken at all and pretty much have never had to re-log back in ).
Detailed instructions below & please like/reblog if you found useful !!
As noted by psyducksgfx, the container tabs extension does not work in private browsing mode. if you are using tumblr in private browsing mode and would like to log into multiple accounts, i suggest creating separate firefox profiles. these function almost identical to chrome profiles. you can find the relevant page in firefox by typing “about:profiles” into the url bar. i have this page on my bookmarks bar for easy access.
Note: All these instructions are as if I just opened Firefox for the first time. Please also note that if you do not already use Firefox, you will have to add the xkit rewritten extension and set those preferences but you will only have to do that once no matter how many containers ( accounts added ) you make !
First, head to the menu in the upper right > settings
Click on “themes & extensions” in the bottom left.
Search for “containers” in the find more add-ons search bar.
The desired extension should be the very first one that comes up: Firefox Multi-Account Containers. Click the extension and “add to Firefox.”
Click “Add” & then “Okay”.
The extension is now installed ! Head back to settings ( you may have to refresh or re-navigate to the page ). On the general settings page, scroll down a little to the “Tabs” section. Next to the “Enable Container Tabs” option, click settings.
You will now see the default containers ! Now you can remove/change these containers to correspond to each of your muses by using “settings” and “add new container”. You can set the container tab name, color, and symbol.
Default view:
Below is an example of what things might look like when changed to correspond to muses. You can have more containers than this, I just stopped here for this example --- there are also only 9 unique colors that help identify which container tab is open as shown further below, so logistically it can get a little more difficult to identify which tabs are open ( because they have the same color ), but technically nothing changes that is limiting.
Example view:
Once last optional step: I recommend checking the box at the bottom “Select a container for each new tab.” What this means is when you open a new tabs, you will get a dropdown asking you to select which container it should go into, as shown below.
If you do not check this, every new tab will be “containerless” or you would have to right click on the new tab button to open a new tab in a specific container. Regardless of the setting, if you ctrl + click or right click on a link directly in a container tab, that link will automatically open in the same container.
When you have multiple tabs open in different containers, you can tell the difference between different ones by the colored bar at the top as seen below. In this example, I can see the first tab ( blue = muse 1 ), second tab ( orange = muse 6 ), third tab ( purple = muse 8 ), and fourth tab ( green = muse 3 ).
You can also always see which container you’re in by looking at the end of the address bar where the container name and symbol are shown in the respective container color ( below, I am on muse 6′s container tab ):
This concludes the tutorial !! You will have to log into the respective Tumblr account in each tab initially, but after that you shouldn’t have to do log outs and relogins anymore.
If you have a lot of tumblr accounts and don’t want to constantly have them all open, I suggest checking out my tutorial here that describes how you can get tumblr notifications for multiple accounts to come into a private discord server !!
I hope you found this useful and please like/reblog if you did !!
Did I never mention I made another blog?? I mean it’s not like I fooled anyone my name is on it but I think I completely forgot to say “oh hey by the way look at this”
Jesus.
Well now that we’re all here I can make my ooc post for the month and say that my new Dirk blog is over at @damnhedidthat and yes, I am shocked that url wasn’t taken.
8. Name any three things about the rpc that bother you.
1) thank u for finally letting me rant about this because it’s been stewing in my mind since u brought it up a while ago. i hate when people are passive-aggressive toward their rp partners for not getting to their thread fast enough. DO NOT DO THIS. DO NOT DO THIS. it’s immature, it puts undue pressure on your partner in what’s supposed to be a fun hobby space, and it’s really shit behavior. PEOPLE WILL RUN THEIR BLOGS HOW THEY WANT TO RUN THEIR BLOGS.
i’m never going to apologize for prioritizing the threads i’m most excited about – sometimes, i’m super into a particular verse, a particular pair, or whatever, and if that’s what’s most fun to write, that’s what’s most fun to write. so i’m gonna write it first. being passive aggressive toward someone is not going to make your threads suddenly more fun to write. it’s just going to make them force out a halfhearted reply because they’re nervous or feel obligated, instead of shelving it for when they’re actually feeling the thread. just. don’t do this. good lord.
2) i’ve already talked about aesthetic elitism but THAT. i absolutely understand wanting to keep to a certain aesthetic / make your blog look nice. hell, i feel you. but it becomes super obvious after a while which ones will only give a shit if your blog is also formatted the EXACT same way, just as unreadable in aesthetic. it’s a big pet peeve of mine. in general, overly inaccessible formatting – double small text, a huge and constant variety in bold, giant words, different fonts, and colors – immediately turns me off of a blog. i read a rules doc the other day and had an actual physical headache trying to do so. part of that also: I GRUMBLE ABOUT THE TINY ICON TREND SO MUCH KAJSHFKJHSF PL E A SE. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE WITH MY HORRIBLE BLIND EYES WHAT TF IS GOING ON. icons are less of a big deal tho bc i don’t have to Read Them.
3) i understand reblog karma while not practicing it myself, but i fear the growing trend of “don’t reblog anything from me, ever.” it makes me super nervous and just isn’t how i do things, or have ever done things, and in a space where i’m trying to have fun i don’t want to be looking desperately through the notes of a photo post with no desc. for the source every single time a good one pops up on the dash. so i tend not to follow if that’s a part of somebody’s rules, and it seems like it’s happening more and more often lately which makes me nervous af sjkdhfsdf.
9. What is your opinion on exclusivity? Do you practice it? Why / why not?
I DIDN’T USE TO. up until very recently, i was vehemently non-exclusive, because ... like. i’ve been on tumblr rp on and off for about seven or eight years. i’m used to my favorite partners leaving without a trace, and it breaks my heart every single time. so i tried to kind of distance myself from getting so invested in rp relationships that i’d be that upset when they inevitably leave, by keeping myself open to duplicates and remaining adaptable.
but sometimes i’ll just. god. i’ll start interacting with a blog for a particular canon character and after a while, sometimes something just clicks and i don’t want to interact with other versions of that character.
but even on this blog, which i’ve only had since january, i’ve already gotten burned by doing that. so i’m tentatively saying yes, i practice exclusivity, but not in an official way and not beyond a few select canon partners who i’ve got a really good and strong rp relationship with. so far you’re the only one i think? at least the only one i haven’t been afraid to slap a ‘this one’ sticker on for being exclusive. akjsdhfkf
32. Is there something you don’t know the meaning of but you haven’t asked anyone because you think it’s supposed to be general knowledge? Was there ever something you had to ask someone to explain?
honestly i’m sure there has been – most of that stuff happened wayyyyyy long ago in my first years of rp though. but as of now, i think i’m good on colloquial knowledge
WAIT NO. WHAT TF IS SESSIONBOX
Have you ever experienced discrimination?
on this blog so far? i have not. at least, not directly. if anyone’s been discriminatory towards me or hellhound for any reason, they’ve done it quietly enough that i haven’t noticed, but i’ve made sure to surround myself with good people so? if anyone tries they will get-a-Blocked.
hi sien! i haven't rp'd in a super long time (like maybe 3/4 years), but with this quarantine, i've been kinda wanting to get back into it! i was wondering if you had any tips or guides you could link me to that could help me ease back into it? thank you sm!
❞ HI DARLING !! I haven’t come across any recent guides on how to start roleplaying on Tumblr ( THIS ONE is two years old, though, might still be useful ), however I have made a guide myself about how to start independent/indie roleplaying which you can find HERE and I also found a guide on how to join a group, which you can find HERE. Most roleplayers on Tumblr are either independent or group members, so I think those two should be able to help you on your way already, dear. Especially since you probably still know the basics ?? I will also list a couple useful general tips below the cut, things which you will probably find useful to know. I hope this will help you out, lovely, if you have any particular questions in the future, don’t hesitate to hit me up !! Xoxo
first and foremost, you should probably be made aware of the fact that Tumblr has a tendency to enforce updates on us which make roleplaying harder and harder. luckily, there are ways around it and ways to fix it. an important new development is the forcing of beta dashboards on blogs. this update makes chrome extensions such as xkit and sessionbox unworkeable ( and both of these extensions are very dear to roleplayers, i would definitely recommend installing them -- i will explain what they do and why you might want to install them further down ). luckily, you can still return to the old dashboard. how do you do this ? you go to settings > dashboard > ‘use the old dashboard’ which you should switch on. that’s it !
now, allow me to elaborate on xkit and sessionbox + add some other useful extras to the list, which will hopefully help you out:
XKIT : xkit is an extension made for google chrome which is probably the roleplayer’s best friend. without xkit, we would be nowhere thanks to tumblr’s updates. so you will definitely want to install xkit to your google chrome ( just google xkit chrome extention and you will find it immediately ). once xkit is installed, you will see the little xkit icon in the top right corner of your tumblr dashboard, in between the notifs and account icons. when you click it, a pop-up will appear on your screen. now, what does xkit do ? xkit allows to add extension to your tumblr which can reverse some of tumblr’s annoying updates. if you want to roleplay, an extention you might want to get it ‘ editable reblogs ‘. why ? because the time of just reblogging a thread and adding replies on and on so you have to scroll down a lot, is long gone. nowadays, you usually leave two replies in your reblog -- the previous reply of your partner, and your own new reply. without xkit, you are no longer able to edit reblogs, just add your own new text to it -- clearly, this is not what you want as a roleplayer, because you would like to just cut the replies short. this is why you need the ‘ editable reblogs ‘ extension in xkit. how do you get it ? you click the xkit icon, then you go to ‘ get extensions ‘ on the bottom of the pop-up and you look for ‘ editable reblogs ‘. once you’ve found it, you just click install and you are good to go ! i think this is the main feature you will need if you want to roleplay.
SESSIONBOX : sessionbox is another chrome extension which could be nice to have -- it’s not a must like xkit is, but it’s handy. sessionbox allows you to have numerous tumblr sessions active in the same chrome window. in other words, with sessionbox, you can be logged on in a bunch of different tumblr accounts and have them all open in different tabs at the exact same time. this could be useful when you have different roles in a group, but have created a new blog for each of them -- because thanks to sessionbox, you wouldn’t have to log off and on into different accounts all the time. you can just have them open and next to each other. i wouldn’t advice making new blogs for all your roles within one roleplay -- creating sideblogs for additional roles is overall a more useful thing to do, i think. but that’s just my personal opinion !
TAGS : i assume the tag game has a changed a bit since you were roleplaying here last -- so here are some tags which you can look through when searching for a new group, new partners etc...
GROUPS : some popular tags nowadays for tumblr groups are new rp, appless rp, town rp, oc rp, semi-appless rp... it actually depends on what type of roleplay you are looking for. here is a division in genres and types of roleplays:
LOCATION : college rp, high school rp, town rp, city rp, apartment rp, hotel rp, island rp, university rp... are tags that are used quite frequently.
FANDOM : harry potter rp, marauders era rp, disney rp, supernatural rp, twilight rp ( yes, they are being revived ), musicals rp, or just general fandom rp ... are some tags i’ve noticed are around a lot. of course, you can try and look for more specific roleplays -- there is probably a roleplay for almost every fandom.
TYPE : subplot rp, pairs rp, oc ( original character ) rp, bio rp, skeleton rp ... are some common types of roleplays.
GENRE : appless rp, semi-appless rp ... are probably the most frequently used ones. you can find a bit about the difference in THIS ask.
INDIE: if you want to do independent roleplay, the following tags might be interesting to go through : indie rp, independent rp, 1x1 rp, indie starter, open starter ...
LINKS : make sure to check out the following posts for more general information which might be useful [ x, x, x, x ] and check out my TUMBLR HELP / GUIDE tags for hopefully more useful stuff !
First, you should take this opportunity to clean-up your follow lists because Tumblr has dumped all the deactivated blogs so you can clear them down to 95 blogs that you should be following for this game.
Secondly, if you need help with making SessionBox work after turning off the new dashboard, come to me, Admin A and I will walk you through it. It has to do with clearing your cookies, but you’ll have to keep clearing them if you don’t clear them at the right point in the process of switching to the old dashboard.
