I started playing D&D again in a group a good friend of mine introduced me to, and is it some kind of unspoken rule that the DM has to be the biggest jerk of the group?

Like, if I had a nickel for every time I got pulled along into a D&D group where the DM is the biggest jerk at the table, I'd have two nickels. Which is not a lot, but it sure is weird that it happened twice.

[I also had a few incredibly pleasant D&D experiences where no one was a jerk and the DMs were formidable people, but. why does this specific situation keep happening?]

Haha nah it’s fine, no worries. People are just having fun and I think it’s cool that they liked the story enough to make weird ships of it. Like, I guess it’s kinda a compliment? 

So long as they’re doing it cause they like the story and not to make fun of the story ^.^

I think a lot of “system discourse” is utter nonsense and everyone would be better off blocking each other but if you cite your sources of DID/OSDD/Plurality from Reddit of all places we should be allowed to throw rocks at you/yall (if it’s another system perpetrating it, yes it happens sadly)
