im on chapter 144 of kny and here are the tweeks imma make to yuuji’s kny verse:
he’s still going to follow the path of a flame breathing swordsman, but he doesn’t have a traditional sword. instead, yuuji has a hunting knife, similar to the one he had when fighting yuuta in the execusion arc
this will allow him both use and better his close combat skills, since this is what he prioritizes when he’s fighting curses. he uses all his strength to break down the demon, then takes out this knife to behead them. it’s long enough to cut right through. it’s usually attached to his thigh when he’s traveling
also in this verse, i’d see yuuji being related to sukuna ( that be sibling relation or just familial ). yuuji joined the demon slayer corps to hunt down sukuna and free him. i’d definitely think that sukuna being turned into a demon, if they’re brothers then yuuji would have this sense of loyalty to sukuna, to help free him from whatever mess he got himself into. if sukuna has been a demon for a while, then maybe sukuna killed yuuji’s grandpa, and yuuji wants revenge. i’m still between these two plot ideas.
ANYWAY. how yuuji fits into the main story of kny is that he was supposed to be rengoku’s tsuguko. this plot goes two ways: 1. yuuji becomes strong to try and fight against akaza as revenge or 2. yuuji tries to help rengoku back to a sense of normal strength while still training under him
