Ooh! This is going to be fun! ...For me anyway 😈
"Why is it so c-cold in here?" The quiet question drew Peppy's attention. He glanced over to see James had pulled down the sleeves of his bomber jacket. Trembling hands zipped up the coat. Yet still it seemed it wasn't enough as he wrapped his arms around himself.
"It isn't th't cold, Jim," Peppy said with a frown. Did he have a fever?
"You s-sure?" James asked, still trembling even as he made his way over to the sink. Though his hands shook, he still managed to get himself a glass of water. His second in less than twenty minutes.
"Ah'm sure," Peppy answered. Closing the distance, he pressed a hand to James' forehead. No fever.
James gave an unconvinced hum as he downed the water far too quickly.
There was something naggingly familiar about all of this, though Peppy couldn't quite place it.
"What do ya feel besides cold?" Peppy asked. A gentle hand took the glass from James when he went to refill it. Water intoxication would not help him.
"Achy... but what's n-new there?" James muttered. "An' thirsty. Give that back." He made a grab for the glass.
"Ya've had plenty of water Jim. Give yer system a moment t' catch up," Peppy said, holding the glass out of his reach.
James growled low in his throat. He made a lunge for the glass and only succeeded in falling against Peppy. An arm wrapped around him to keep him upright. "Easy Jim. Are ya dizzy?"
"No. Jus' tired." His chin landed on Peppy's shoulder as he gave a huff. He made another half-hearted attempt to retrieve the glass before giving up entirely. "My eyes hurt," he mumbled.
His eyes hurt, he was cold, he was still thirsty despite already having two glasses of water... shit.
Peppy should have caught on sooner. Though after five years or so, some details were fuzzy in his mind. Still, he remembered what all this meant now.
"Where are yer meds, Jim?" Peppy asked as he set the glass on the counter.
"Meds? Whut... whut medz?" His words were starting to slur.
"Yer migraine meds," Peppy answered. It was probably already too late to prevent the migraine entirely. Still, the medicine should help lessen the coming headache at least.
"Ex-esp-," James growled when the word refused to form. "Old. Bad."
"An' ya haven't gotten new ones," Peppy sighed. His eyes rolled towards the celling as he mentally damned James' habit of avoiding the doctor. Even if it meant not getting his prescriptions renewed. "Let's get ya t' bed, Jim."
Maybe after suffering a major headache for the next however many hours, James would finally make the needed appointment to get his prescription renewed.
Peppy could only hope.
