When your first haircut in over a year gets postponed at the last minute because your stylist got hit by a drunk driver (at 10 am.) She's okay, thankfully, but obviously not in a state to cut hair. And you didn't find this out until you were already dropped off at the salon, to find the door locked on an extremely humid day.
All of this takes place right before your first big social event in over a month (because you were sick for most of May.) And so you got up super early and planned the whole last two days around this haircut for no reason. And you now have to wait and see when she's available tomorrow (a day you were hoping NOT to go out, because the aforementioned social event runs until 2 AM at the earliest. And your partner works tomorrow, so he isn't around to drive you.) And now you won't have the confidence boost of a new haircut to help counteract your social anxiety before the event. Which lack of sleep worsens, and you have a lack of sleep, because you got up early specifically for the haircut.
AND, on top of all this, your partner decides that NOW is the best time to tell you that your anxiety is out of control and that you take it out on everyone around you. Despite actually REALLY trying hard to manage it.
Oh, and every other lane between your house and the salon is blocked off with loud, smelly, traffic-worsening construction. Which triggers you a little bit, because you had to put up with similar noise and road closures and rumbles that shook your first-floor apartment walls, outside of your previous place for 18 straight months a couple years back.
And you still have to try to pull it together and look okay and be confident in a group tonight.
I don't know how I'm going to. I feel so small and worthless and ugly and stupid. Why doesn't my partner just provide an alphabetized list of all my other flaws too, that I can easily reference in case I forget one?
