Let me introduce you to Bernd.
So I was talking with my friend the other day about the shows we watched as little kids and we agreed that the weirdest character was Bernd das Brot (germ. "Bernd the Bread") and we were joking like "no wonder millennials turned out like this"... then instantly realized most of you guys probably don't even know about him. And this is a issue I have to fix.
So this is Bernd.
He is best described in five words:
A depressed piece of bread.
He is a bread. And he hates his life. And everyone around him.
He is a character from a kids tv show starring him and his friends: a sentient bush and a pyromanic sheep.
But his rise to fame started with his late night show, consisting of him being trapped in a white room and forced by a narrator voice to enact several scenarios packed with popculture references. Here are some classics:
He also has a hit single which translates to "Dance the bread". The message of the song is basically:
"I am a bread. My life sucks. So does yours. Let's dance."
Oh and he's also a statue in Erfurt:
