Sunday Snippet

(From chapter 2 of 'it just ain't proper'. Posting for accountability reasons - this chapter ran away from me but I'm determined to get it finished before the end of the month!)

“So, how did you meet Theo?”

Wille glances up as if shocked by the question, licking the grease from his fingers, and Simon wants to kick himself. He’s got this wrong again, hasn’t he? You’re probably not supposed to ask about the boyfriend of the guy you’re fucking.

He wishes there was someone he could talk to about what the etiquette is here. Or some kind of instruction manual. ‘How to navigate someone else’s open relationship when you’re the person on the outside of it For Dummies’.

But Wille is smiling at him pleasantly enough after the initial surprise, answering the question with a shrug. “I know this might sound terrible, but…I don’t really remember? His friend group got tangled up with mine at some point I think, early on in my first year, and I kept seeing him around at parties and that. We got chatting, I guess, then one night we hooked up when we were both drunk. Sort of rubbed along together ever since.” He grins. “So to speak.”

It's not the most romantic story Simon has ever heard. Almost disappointing, really, though he’s not sure why. It’s not like he knows Wille very well, maybe he’s just not a romantic guy. It feels like an oddly dismissive way to talk about what is, presumably, a long-term, loving relationship though. They’d seemed so fond of each other.

Still, none of his business.

Wille’s still talking, apparently oblivious to Simon’s churning thoughts, telling him how he’s mostly drifted away from his own original friend group and towards Theo’s circle now.

“I’d never had that before,” he says quietly, throwing the crust of his final slice onto the table and turning to face Simon, head propped up on one elbow. “Like being part of a crowd where everyone was…queer, I guess. If I can say that.”

“Why shouldn’t you?”

There’s a beat before he replies, smile faded now and a trace of sadness in his eyes. “Not sure I’ve earned the right.”

They should put an exercise where they test the misfits on how they will be like if they all start living together

At first its chaos then it'll probably be calm and now they lowkey dont want to leave the house and just wanna start living together.

One of the punishments they have if they dont do their chores is being part of kuromu's evidol life (crossdressing) and they have to send their photos to their families afterward (well except jazz or smth where they all collectively dont like the family of one of Theirs).

The girls lowkey rule the house solely because the boys are still boys and dont really want to bother the girls when theyre enjoying the lives and also iruma is still King(unknowingly or unknowingly).

Also they have a hallway and areas dedicated to their photos like a museum, with the music festival performance being one of the main highlights as well as their first photo in getting the Royal One.(ngl they hunted down all class photos while also ensuring Soi is inside and decorating their place with them)

Though they technically should not be getting extra help since this is a test, its not as serious as the harvest festival so they have a chef at the very least to help with Iruma's monstrous apetite. But thats it(although they all start pitching in on cooking and slowly the chef start appearing less and less during the test, though he comes back after the test is over because iruma just....alot of food is needed lmao)

They have an anti-amy kirio poster where he is On SightTM. Iruma disagrees but they rlly dont like this creepy dude. And somehow they started to (accidentally) have more knowledge or data on the Six Fingers then anyone else (not that they know. They were just keeping track of Kirio and whoever is may be with because they might go after iruma). And when Iruma gets kidnapped at one point and they all disappear to find him, the adults have no choice but to raid their house to look for possible info. We get a tour of their Misfits Museum, their trophy room, a portrait they all had gotten done together, a portrait with them in their EviDol EraTM and of course, stumbling upon their special room dedicated to keeping track of Kirio (and the Six Fingers in relation). They were actually being led by Ameri, one of the few that visits them as regularly as possible because of Iruma and her Girl Friends.
