I feel like not enough people appreciate the narrative role that the AC tester pilot does in AC 6. he's young, hopeful, ambitious, driven. in any other story he would probably be the protagonist. but this isn't any other story, so instead he serves as a message. "war doesn't care about hopeful kids on the battlefield." and this serves to set the tone for the rest of the story. its such a small thing, but it's brilliant.
