these clips mean the world to me. I hope they're important in the next film. he saw Neytiri at, arguably, her most vulnerable. when he rage was interrupted by even more grief and loss. in the window of time where she is just... empty. exhausted. facing the consequences of her actions. stunned. in this animalistic state, not because she is feral with rage, but because she is so far disconnected from her humanity, from her personhood, that her behavior is odd and stilted as she processes the damage she has done to her bow. he sees her when she hits her absolute rock bottom.

and his face softens, just slightly. he's still afraid, rightfully so, but there's something else. a sense of that "oh shit..." you feel when you see someone hitting rock bottom. when you realize they're down and you can't even help. realizing he is witnessing the loss of yet another thing precious to her.

I just really hope this goes somewhere.
