“Yes, okay– Professor, how do you know Regulus Black?”

Professor Lupin blinked and stood up straight. Sirius had to tilt his head slightly to make eye contact with him– unusual, since Sirius himself wasn’t particularly short. “Regulus Black was my student a few years ago. A relation of yours, I’m assuming.”

Sirius gnawed on his lip. “This is going to sound weird,” he said carefully, “but… Was he nice? Did he seem like a good person? From whatever you knew of him?”

Cocking his head, Professor Lupin smiled. “He was quiet. Diligent. Wrote excellent essays and did exceptionally well academically. I’m afraid I don’t know much more, seeing as he was my student for less than a year. He did seem nice, though, yes.”

Sirius nodded quickly. “That’s… That’s good. I don’t supose you know of any way I might be able to contact him?”

Professor Lupin’s eyebrows flew up. “I’m afraid those details are confidential,” he said slowly. “I’m sorry– are you not related? Or am I completely wrong here?”
